  • Im on the kata right after taikyoku sondan , i think its heidan shodan not for sure,.. but i like your channel it helps me out...the only problem i have is remember some of the moves in japennese ( i think i spelled that wrong) but yahh if u could do a vid on blocks, kicks, punches and say the japenese names that would be a great help!

  • Beautiful example of taikyoku Shodan. Well done. I letting my students reference this video! :)

  • watching this is gonna help me do this when i take the yellow belt test

  • I love karate.... in karate class i taught this kata to the younger students...i like this kata

  • seee..!!! wuuu..!!! karate..!!!

  • Very well done! You deserve your rank alot more than alot of the other american practitioners here on youtube, definetely worth subbing!

  • Very good form and strength shown in this video.

  • Good explanation.

We use the Taikyoku concept also to train basic technics like Uraken and Shuto Uchi in this enbusen form. Its good because of the different turns. And together with Shotokan combinations and foot technics it becomes a various training system.

I gues that was the idea behind of Gichin Funakoshi.

  • thank you!!

  • that's a white belt kata

  • The Taikyoku series of kata was introduced into shotokan by Funakoshi O-Sensei as a way to simplify the principles of the already simplified Heian / Pinan Kata and are a preparation for the Pinan/Heian kata. Taikyoku can be translated as either "First Cause" or "Grand Ultimate". The word Taikyoku refers to the Chinese philosophical concept of Tai Chi (Taiji). In Japanese, Tai Chi Quan is called Taikyoku Ken. I train this kata series in Tai Chi style using Taoist breath

  • jw..aren't u suppose to look b4 u turn?

  • Ive got my red belt gradeing tonight and wasnt sure on some of the turns! This video has really helped me!

Keep up the good work mate! Cheers :)

  • @kyman2545 in ur ryu is red belt = brown belt?

  • This is a great kata and help students learn the moves when they are not in the dojo. The instructor does a great job here. Thanks from the Seido and Shotokan dojos.

  • if those punches hit someone would it really hurt?

  • is there any way of getting a copy of you video for my 6yr old? she works really hard at the routine, however practice at home would help her. A visual is her best aid.

  • @interesting186

thats easy, download the Real Player, play the flash on youtube and on the right top you can download the video. Play it with the VCL Player. If it not work, sent me your eMail ....

  • @interesting186

try the the firefox-addon "downloadHelper" very simple to use. Two clicks and the vid is on your PC

  • @interesting186 if you have a ps3 and a internet connection (with router) and a vcr you can make a copy on vhs tape also.

  • looks good just needs to look to where he is turning before doing the turn

  • very simple kata xD better than nidan xD hian is little simple to xD

  • i dont know about you but we always had a kiai at the end, and stance needs to be a bit lower. over all, quite good.

  • Omg hes so good . i need to learn this kata

  • ridiculo.. shotokan não e assim seu merda

  • ridiculo karate Shotokan não tem esse kata medonho..."heian shodan" seu merda

  • lokks good but that wont help you on the street

  • @emanuelknorr

I hope you're joking man. Even someone who doesn't train martial arts should be able to tell that the forms aren't meant to be taken as literal self defenses. They're there to teach you a specific concept. In this case, this is a very basic beginner form to teach you how to time your punches and footwork, and how to move the body as a whole. The stances are low to build muscle in the legs. Obviously you wouldn't use them on the street, nor would you put your hands at your sides.

  • can i ask who made this taikyoku yondan untill rukudan?

  • @oleczuz

the son of Gichin Funakoshi created 10 Taikyoku katas, Henry Plee from France yondan, godan and rokudan shown here

  • Ich finde es sieht super aus, aber ich hatte noch nicht mal meine Weißgurtprüfung ^^
