  • happy bday Frank! and i guess a happy bday to me too haha.

  • One of Zappa´s very best songs!

  • i love the ending xD

  • I saw this years ago on SNL! And the drummer always stood out to me! Maybe because back then I thought the kit he was playing on was mad pretty or the drummer was such a beast, not knowing back then that it was actually Vinnie!! WOW! He was a big influence to me and I didn't even know it!!

  • That is without a doubt VINNIE COLAIUTA on the drums. A very young, very shaggy Vinnie but Vinnie nonetheless.

  • Would love to have seen Frank as an American Idol judge. He would've brought a bizaarity to that show that would make it worth watching.

  • I haven't watched that since it aired live. That was great to see again. Yes, that's Ralph on the drum kit. Ralph is insane. Vinnie joined minutes later. I saw him with Vinnie and Steve Vai in 1980 at the Uptown in Chicago. Great show.

  • @octofish Its Vinnie on the drum kit.

  • that girl look scarewd

  • Frank Zappa: '' you want higher education..? smoke your diploma...'' R.I.P. FRANK

  • Not only did Frank Zappa NOT suck but...

Along with Duke Ellington and Miles Davis he was the MOST prolific composer of the 20th century. YEAH, that's how good and how much of a musical genius he was! People who don't realize this FACT just don't "get it". These people can't process any music that has more than 3 or 4 chords. HOW SAD! Zappa placed the "musical bar" for excellence VERY high, and he ONLY used the very BEST musicians that had the musical and technical chops to play what he wrote.

  • how could anyone listen to this shit, Frank Zappa sucks

  • @r3dfl4ck4l1 Frank Zappa does not suck, you suck sweaty balls bitch.

  • @TheFigueroa007 wow great comeback, you must be in 6th grade

  • @r3dfl4ck4l1 No, I'm in college and I just think Zappa is a great composer.

  • @r3dfl4ck4l1 Well who are we gonna remember? You and your music (even if you were a composer, you'd probably suck) or Frank Zappa's music?

  • @TheFigueroa007 your opinion is worth fuckall you greasy hippie

  • @r3dfl4ck4l1 FUCK YOU SHITEATER, I'M NOT A HIPPIE.

  • @TheFigueroa007 whatever, hippie.

  • @r3dfl4ck4l1 I'm not a hippie, I'm a metal guitar shredder.

  • @r3dfl4ck4l1 ooooooooooooh,just shut up!

  • @r3dfl4ck4l1 no matter what you opinion of Frank is, cranking out 70 albums in a lifetime of 53 years does qualify him as prolific

  • perfect!

  • Ah ha!!

  • The things I would have let Zappa done to me.... -Swoons-

  • Vincent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Notice how low to the ground Vinnie's drum stool is!! I guess that's he liked it in those days!

  • Oh! thank you for the comments, Mr. frostbyleSB^^

  • @frostbyteSB

That's not Vinnie. That's Ralph Humphrey playing drums. He played on several Zappa albums. He went onto be one of the principle instructors at PIT. Very good player. Check out Overnight Sensation.

  • @edthekingoffunk No it's not, Ralph quit the 2 drummer band (the other being Chester Thompson) in mid 1974. VInnie joined in 1978

  • I love Zappa's voice!

  • @ElJazz93 was he weird al's inspiration or what?

  • thi`s is cools thx

  • i can't believe vinnie played with zappa when he was like 18

  • @beatcrazy14 vinnie was a better drummer but I preferred bozzio for zappas commercial appeal'.

  • @fadethetrade That's because you come from San Francisco

    :)

  • GENIUS

  • Nobody can touch his shit.

  • frank is sooooooooo strange i think he should have been made an honoury englishman !

  • Heeyyyyyy, where's the YOWSA YOWSA YOWSA?!?!

  • This is a damn brilliant song.

  • TWO bass players! Patrick O'Hearn + Arthur Barrow!

  • Rang Tang ding dang he is the Japanese Sandman, take 8

  • Zappas a friggin genius

  • Zappa later became a Guest judge on Denny Terrio's "Dance Fever" Guess there is hope for everyone!

  • Ahahaha ! Very nice !

    Thank you frankiemionetto^^

  • i may be totally wrong but im a big fan of FZ,g'night boys and girls.

  • we could have used him to help kill rap

  • oh my god TUNE

  • If that's Vinnie on the drums, my name is......Donald Duck or something.

Doesn't look like him for shit.

    Are you sure it's him?

The guy looks way thicker then Vinnie, aswell as a beard, and well a totally different look then the "Vinnie" i'm used to seeing.

  • Hi, Mr.Reaper! Thanks for a comment^^

I think he is Vinnie Colaiuta, 'cause of the way of playing the drums....and looks, too.

If I or you is wrong, let us take it easy and enjoy Frank Zappa ?

    Dancin' Foooouuuul ♪♪♪

  • It seems like you are right, cause in another video frank presents him as Vinnie, haha!!

Wtf, looks completely different to "these days", like a totally different man, he must have lost lots of weight aswell.

    Great song anyways, yes.

  • OK, Let's go^^

  • @dai2008002iad Yeah all the SNL stuff is Vinnie with the yellow kit (and I haven't finished watching, so perhaps there's more with him). He remains arguably the very best drummer alive. Seeing him live in more recent years with Jing Chi and with Chick was incredible.

    Thanks for the excellent videos.

  • @Reaper1984 That is def. Vinnie

  • @Reaper1984

It's Vinnie. Now onto the social problem called Disco!

  • @Reaper1984 It's Vinnie, for sure. He was in Zappa's band from 1978 to 1980

  • @Reaper1984 Of course that's Vinnie! FOR SURE!!!

Look at him at that time w/ Zappa: /watch?v=fPobB_1kZao

    Cheers!

  • lmao that girl looked scared sh*tless...or greatest acting of all time.

  • I'mmaybetotallywrongbutI'ma Dancing Foooool

  • why is patrick ohearn there? i thought he was gone by that point

  • his voice was soooo cool.

  • I agree. Interestingly, his natural voice was a bit higher, but was lowered thanks to an injury to his neck when he was pushed off the stage in 1971. If you listen to any of his material from before the incident, you'll hear the difference.

  • RobertRocks, the blonde was not dumb she just didn't know how to handle a guy like FZ. Who could? but still it is priceless how FZ always blew the scripts of his performances.

  • Hey thanx so much for posting this. The jerks at NBC who keep taking these things down -- WHAT good does it do you to do so? You dont sell the damned clip, all you do is deprive of us of enjoying it.

THIS time I'm saving it so they cant deprive me again. Thanx bud!

  • I'm kind of jealous of that girl at the end, I must say...

  • ahh...one of the highlights of my lonely teenage existence....Zappa on broadcast TV..

I stayed up all night, waiting to see my hero

  • That dumb blonde's face at the end is priceless... your place or mine!

  • I remember watching this live 31 years ago when I was a kid..thanks for posting.
