Bruce Gary once said he was playing in a nightclub in LA somewhere when he noticed Buddy Rich sitting at a nearby table. He said he was able to "maintain" and play the gig. Rich came over and introduced himself and ended up visiting Gary multiple times, giving him some lessons. Gary recounted that there would be times when they'd only have a snare drum between them. Bet THAT was a fascinating private lesson to have heard.
want to know something really special that ASIO (aka the mickey mouse club) and the australian government dont want anyone to know................go to "she has to be loved jenny morris nzoz1989' and press "see all" to find my 3 hidden comments.
This band had a very bad destiny. Always dubbed the '"My Sharona' one hit wonder" even by some so-called "notable" magazines. Not really likely to give you a decent career boost when you get this sort of "rave reviews", is it.
i never thought i'd regret losing track of a single great album, but i never went back to this one after my teenage years, other than occasionally hearing my sharona or good girls don't in some strange context - but now i'm listening to some of the deep cuts for the first time in 3 decades and WOW do i feel old all of a sudden - great songs, really stuck with me, i still know every word
Awesome song on an awesome album. I saw them about 10 years ago. They were still good. Rip Doug. I wish the radio stations would play again some of the other singles other than just "Sharona". This band was so much more than that.
I've always liked the Knack's drummer, the late Bruce Gary. Listen closely to Bruce's work on this Buddy Holly cover, and you'll know what I mean. Very accurate, crisp, and "snappy". He was a better percussionist than what he was ever given credit for. RIP Bruce.
Excellent Album and Group during the last 5 years when Pop Music was still good up to 1985. i switched to totally Country in 1986 and have never gone back to Pop Music since because of my complete distaste of the direction it eventually went. Rap Hip Hop like crap Music in Pop starting in 1986 killed it all completely for me.
I remember stealing a ziplog bag full of silver dollars that my grandfather had given my mother so I could buy this record - if i had to do it again, you bet your ass i would. Just a great super solid rock n' roll album, nothing less. RIP Doug - good job. . .
such a loss for the music industry...such an under rated band....RIP Doug....I'm sure Buddy Holly is rockin to this awesome cover...cheers for the teenage memories that went along with the music
@mavis41558 Slightly off the main topic, but still in the ballpark: the "Get the Knack"album had the old Capitol records logo on it like the one used in the Beatles days in the early 60s.
Best version of this song ever! I lastly heard it 29 years ago on a holiday camp and it inspired me to learn playing the drums. :-D Buddy loves this version for sure! :´-)

You know, DJs of the late 70s and early 80s should have played Knack stuff beyond the two hits! This is amazing!

Bruce Gary was a terrific drummer.
Can't somebody post "The Feeling I Get," from the second album? A great Phil Spector/Beach Boys tribute song.

Of all the 100's of covers of Buddy Holly songs, this is the only one that is actually better than Buddy & the Crickets version.

Yep, just another great song on a ridiculously strong album. Most bands don't have greatest hits collections as good as this one album.

This album has to be in my top ten (five maybe). The drumming alone on this song in particular, are jaw dropping.
