I saw Saul open for NIN in Las Vegas. One of the best opening acts I've ever seen. He walked into a hostel ass room and left with us eating out the palm of his hand.
this depends on how good the 'soundman' is. a lot of the time you have to cup the mic to make it sound decent. not every performance has a grammy awards caliber soundman running things. dig.
NO NO NO NO NO NO. DO NOT DO THAT. PERIOD. Speaking as a pro soundman, this is the worst possible thing you can do. Without going into too much detail, this changes the frequency response of the mic completely, makes it more succeptable to feedback, and makes it far less intelligible. I always have an easier time mixing rock shows because most of the singers know better than to do that.
This set was amazing! Got so hot and sweaty dancing up front. Walking out everyone was looking at me like i was crazy. I warned them about the dance epidemic that was upon them as all of my sweat dried off on their dry clothes...
Oh I know. I was trying to keep my composure in front of all the damned hipster kids but I totally lose my shit every time I hear "List of Demands". I swear I'm like a woman who's found Jesus at a backwater revival during that song. Got my "PRAISE JESUS!" hands going in the air the whole time. lol. Such fantastic energy in that song.
There was an autograph session?! FUCK! I should've researched that. It would have been awesome to meet him. He's a pretty charismatic and charming guy from what I've seen in his interviews. Maybe next Lollapalooza he'll play again, eh?
Awesome! We saw the whole crowd surge forward and we wondered if the barricade had given way. Later I saw Saul pop back up onstage. This show was non-stop amazing from start to finish!
The only complaint I had was the Girl Talk idiots wouldn't let the people who came to see Saul Williams out of the crowd. I had to push and shove people in order to get out to the NIN show.
I heard them yelling "IS THIS GIRL TALK? WHERE IS GIRL TALK?" and kind of wondered what the fuck they were talking about or why they were at Saul. They were a such nuisance. I'm just glad they either shut up or moved out of range from where we were standing by the time Saul came out.
Saul and Nine Inch Nails easily made my day. It's a shame Saul wasn't on the same stage as Nine Inch Nails. He would've been perfect to be the last guy to play before them.
You know we were _really_ surprised that Trent and Saul didn't invade each other's set. We thought for sure they'd do at least one song together. I suppose since Trent was still having voice problems he wouldn't have wanted to sing with Saul and I'm guessing with as technical the light show is for NIN that it would be difficult to work in something extra. But still it would have been cool.
Oh and did you get the chance to meet Saul at the autograph tent after his show? We did and he's such a nice guy! Kind of intimidating because of how cool he is but he was polite and really gracious to his fans. Even the ones that meandered over after the autographing session was closed. I'll never be able to say enough good things about Saul.
Awkward moment when your guitar strap breaks.

I realize that still though, when you hold the mic about 2 inches from your mouth and a sing a little louder it makes it sound cleaner.
