@suffersystemdegrees I know how to use my tube screamer. I set it to the edge of breaking up, then kick in the TS. Doing it on the gain channel gives little noticable effect. Especially when the gain is all the way up.
It would be nice to hear these amps with a few "normal" chords played through them even at this higher gain stage, not just the low B string pull offs and 2 note power chords. Is it just me???
Of course it makes a difference. There are many ways to use a tubescreamer. You can use it as an overdrive as some blues players might do, for example, or you can use it as a clean boost for solos, like many guitarists of different playing styles do.
@okamasphere It's used alot of the time as a way to tighten the gain and add a little oomph and whatnot to an already saturated amp. Many, many guitarists use them in this way. They keep the gain low or nil, and up the level to really tighten things up. Works wonders on certain amps and for really tight tone.
@XThisBeautifulLifeX no one decreed nothing. nor I was saying it should be used differently or specifically. they just made this amazing amp sound like shit. just saying...
@legendzskate To say that the playing wasn't the craziest or all that technical is fair, yes. They probably could have played something a little more versatile. But to say that the playing was shit is a pretty stupid and arrogant comment. Everyone has different interpretations of things, and how things should be used. That's why people make other demos for you to watch. Just saying.

I am 110% with you. I fucking hate how some guy gets on a custom guitar, chugs a few chords, and suddenly he's a god and a guitar virtuoso. It's bullshit! It's people like that that give real metal guitarists a bad name! Both of these guys suck! And for half the video that misha guy doesn't know what the fuck to do. QUIT BEING LAZY AND GO LEARN YOUR FUCKING THEORY!!!
@Aoimusha412 I can assure you that both of these players know the theory behind their instruments and that they are VERY TALENTED. You don't get singed to a label for being a dickhead who can't play his instrument...
@DopeDethrone you're either failing to understand what i mean, or you have a seriously inflated ''youtube-ego'' and are simply under the impression that anyone with an opinion different to yours, is wrong. these demo players aren't being diverse. i'll word what i mean another way - my problem is that they're doing either fully cranked gain, or clean sounds. as an audio enginner, i can safely say that no one needs anywhere near as much gain as these guys are demoing with. it just sounds crap.
@carlxrussell I agree with you there. I used a lot of gain when I was younger. I played a JCM800 with the gain at 10, and I listen to the albums I recorded back then and hate my guitar tone. I now use an Orange AD30 with the gain at 6, and I believe I'm a better player because of it. Low gain is unforgiving, and doesn't cover mistakes. It has forced me to play better.....and I like it!
@DopeDethrone its not that i cant hear differences between amps, i said they're treating them identically, not that they sound identical, if you're going to try and correct me, atleast get the basic grasp of what i was saying in the first place. i just dislike how they're doing exactly the same stuff through each one, rather than showing certain styles/tones which those amps are best at. dont get me wrong, these are good demos, they just could have been a lot more diverse with thier testing.
these tests aren't bringing the amps individual characteristics into the equation. they're treating them all identically, just cranking up the gain and riffing, rather than trying to show what each amp is best at. ty is getting too much abuse aswell, everyone should just stop riding misha's dick for a moment and just realise that he plays a totally different style. misha's playing is far from impressive in these videos, he's fairly sloppy and muddy sounding at the best of times in these videos.
@michaeldrywater i hate you fuckers who think that a 7 string much be used for jazz licks, fuller chords and slow, creamy scales. that may be what it USED to be for but not anymore. to be honest, that type of music isnt even popular anymore. so what us metalheads said was "well i love lower tunings but i love keeping my high notes as well" and so we adopted the 7 string into our music. i dont care about playing technical because i am not a shredder. i play slow and heavy. and thats how i like it
@brunopv85 Yeah lol I was actually expecting some dude with a perm and a bandana to bust out some shreds with his floyd-roseified kramer. That's usually the standard demo for high-gain amps.
@overtheunder1993 "Sludge" music is what comes out of shitty sounding solid state peavey combos. This is an ORANGE. They are High quality and should not be eq'd to sound like fucking "SLUDGE". Go buy a cheap shitty peavey 1x10 combo amp for that crap.
@timjatomnee The build quality of Orange amps is MUCH better than most Marshalls (dsl, tsl, jvm etc.) and just about every amp in it's class. I am not talking about the combo amps made in china I am talking about their heads made in england. They are not the best for say ... speed metal, unless the Bass player knows how do dial in correctly but still a Framus cobra, dragon or even JCM800 would be better for that. BUT Orange wins for music like Down, COC, Clutch, QOTSA etc. JCM800 can work also.
@DaddyDevilKingGhost I have seen pictures of the inside of modern Orange amps, The components like capacitors are hanging loose. I don't like the feel of the amps but that's personal like I mentioned before. I wont even start about modern Marshalls, I don;t like them, I used to own a DSL50 but it was thin sounding. The JVM sounds like crap in my ears, it sounds very thin, it lacks mids and focus, and when it sounds thick it gets boomy. What is the class? The guts of my Brunetti's look much better
@timjatomnee Never heard or played a Brunetti. The only problem with the Rockerverb 100 I have is on the clean channel. When the volume on the guitar is up you can hear a little noise from turning the amp from the volume all the way down and bringing it up. Almost as if there is a short in the clean volume. But it's under a 2 year warranty from Orange so we'll see what happens. I do agree the new marshalls sound like garbage to me as well. What I mean by "class" is price range, 50w 100w tube amp
@timjatomnee 500 or 5k in the same class? you are not that dumb. When something is in "the same class" we are talking about a similar product at a similar price. Did you not read what I wrote? Idiots pay 5000 for a guitar head. Why? Because you can get something WAY BETTER for 2k. Trust me. I've spent many years on the road with the biggest names in the industry. Many long nights of conversations about gear. Musicians with unlimited amounts of money and resources. Orange is 1 of the Very Best!
@DaddyDevilKingGhost It's possible to read it in 2 different ways. I don't agree Orange is 1 of the best, the build quality is so so, there is no possible discussion about the tone cuz it's personal. A matchless is very expensive for example but also sounds awesome, 2 rock etc...
I also own a 1959slp like amp I have built myself so I know something of the insides
@HorizonGeetar93 Yea on the rt100 that I love the tone of I played with a od808 and it smoked, might the best amp for the price along with the 6534/6505/3120, hell I think it sounds better then that shitty ass vh4.
These are amazing videos, and I'm really happy that I came across them... But the problem is that anyone who plays in a band knows that you can't play with that level of gain all the time (unless it's some ____-metal band.) The gain settings for these demos are good for guitar store noodling. Yeah, It's very important to crank it so you can hear what it sounds like maxed out. But they should have played a few riffs with the gain brought back down to a more moderate level, too.
@eric22rr Totally agree with you, but the videos are Monsters of High Gain :P Although i see where your coming from, you cant judge a purchase based on these demo's, but for seeing whats got the best high gain sound they are awesome!
@Jordantm0 I never said I was basing a purchase on these videos. I understand their call, though -- and I don't blame them for focusing on super high gain. I'm saying I would like to see just a tiny bit more. Like you said, it IS the monsters of high gain, so it shouldn't be a surprise. However, it's important to remember that there's more than one definition of "high gain". Plenty of high-gain amp users use very low gain settings (I'm talking about the gain knob, specifically.)
@overtheunder1993 yeah, i don't really see this is such an ultra high gain amp as these guys demonstrate. no offense to these guitarists, but just an observation.
@GuardianOfFate12 Yeah, and Misha clearly wins 13 out of 13 times...Misha basically comes in like "Ty take your Drop D playing ass out of here, and let me show you how to play"....then Misha plays what i'm assuming is Ab with his seven string and puts Ty to shame......flawless victory!
@johnstangg could they play any easier lil' riffs???? i think not
+1 the first guy plays :15 seconds the second guy bangs a open C for 2 minutes...when I watch a few of these I realize I can't judge amps by what amp or cabinet or guitar "x" guitarist played on
"x" CD because I don't know how the raw trks orig sounded before racks of post gear tweaked it for the mastered product.Utube is just the opposite and ultimately worse, I used to never watch this stuff and instead played what I got.
@johnstangg Well the video is just to give you an idea of the differences in each amp. But then again, it's better to do so in person. But if I can find it on fearedse's channel, it helps my decision making out a lot. lol
@twoheadedboy No shit... Can't imagine anyone fitting a large piece of sheetmetal into an amplifier. However, there are digital recreations of plate reverb being installed in Marshall amps. Sounds much better than that old spring shit. Spring reverb just sounds horrible.
Oh and the word "n00b" has been worn out. Time for you geeks to come up with something else to try and degrade someone.
If you prefer the sound of plate to spring, that's fine, but if you honestly think that including a digital plate reverb circuit in an amp is a reasonable alternative to real spring reverb, you are a n00b. There is a reason that Marshall primarily includes a digital reverb circuit in their lower-end amps. The amp has an effects loop. If you don't like spring reverb, put the reverb pedal of your choice in the loop.
@filteredwataaa thats wat demonstrates a high gain amp best, i mean anyone can solo on almost any amp but just playing some generic c5 power chords is what demonstrates an amps true potential, you can easily hear the tone of a amp when just playin chords and chugs but you can't really get a feel for the amp if you do impressive stuff, their not trying to show off, they're trying to give you a feel and tone clip of the amp.
Are they are running the amps naked ? or w/an overdrive or a dist pdl ? I don't know. The amps sound a little more alike than I expected them to. Nobody claims to run them w/o any fx or did I miss that comment? If so, sorry, I see a green plug on the cord end going into the guitars , but not green going into the amp inputs, at least they don't look the same to me here ... made me a little suspicious. I think Slipknot use this amp live, seen in a You Tube interview.
@topcatification slipknot does use them. no clue what pedals with them. owning an orange though, they sound best without pedals. especially without distortion pedals.
Are they are running the amps naked ? or w/an overdrive pedal , or perhaps a Metal Muff ? The amps sound more alike than I expected them to. They don't claim to run them w/o any fx or did I miss that comment? Also there is a green plug on the cord end going into the guitars , but not green going into the amp inputs, at least they don't look green to me here ...
btw Slipknot uses this amp live and a Metal Muff on the board too. A good guitarist can make any amp shine by adjusting his style

mischa is good enough to play in slipknot
coltenbhell 6 months ago
@coltenbhell and yet no member of slipknot is worthy to even be in misha's presence
isoscelespopsicle 6 months ago
Hi, this is Ty, I'm gonna be playing great for, like, 30 seconds.
Hi, this is Misha and I'm gonna be doing nothing for like an hour or so. Nobody's gonna understand my new "style".
Enjoy!
jankokralj 6 months ago
What happened with Bulb? He is playing worse each time more lately.
NeZvers16 6 months ago
seriously this misha guy is fucking awful. he knows nothing about music, he cant even improv a solid riff.
1withguitar 6 months ago
i really dislike the way misha plays its basically chug chug chug with some sour notes
impsychosocial1 6 months ago
@DopeDethrone you're either failing to understand what i mean, or you have a seriously inflated ''youtube-ego'' and are simply under the impression that anyone with an opinion different to yours, is wrong. these demo players aren't being diverse. i'll word what i mean another way - my problem is that they're doing either fully cranked gain, or clean sounds. as an audio enginner, i can safely say that no one needs anywhere near as much gain as these guys are demoing with. it just sounds crap.
carlxrussell 7 months ago
@carlxrussell I agree with you there. I used a lot of gain when I was younger. I played a JCM800 with the gain at 10, and I listen to the albums I recorded back then and hate my guitar tone. I now use an Orange AD30 with the gain at 6, and I believe I'm a better player because of it. Low gain is unforgiving, and doesn't cover mistakes. It has forced me to play better.....and I like it!
murfdog19 6 months ago
@DopeDethrone its not that i cant hear differences between amps, i said they're treating them identically, not that they sound identical, if you're going to try and correct me, atleast get the basic grasp of what i was saying in the first place. i just dislike how they're doing exactly the same stuff through each one, rather than showing certain styles/tones which those amps are best at. dont get me wrong, these are good demos, they just could have been a lot more diverse with thier testing.
carlxrussell 7 months ago
these tests aren't bringing the amps individual characteristics into the equation. they're treating them all identically, just cranking up the gain and riffing, rather than trying to show what each amp is best at. ty is getting too much abuse aswell, everyone should just stop riding misha's dick for a moment and just realise that he plays a totally different style. misha's playing is far from impressive in these videos, he's fairly sloppy and muddy sounding at the best of times in these videos.

Fantastic amp for Sludge and Doom.

misha diesn't know how to play a seven string like its supposed to be played and i don't like that
michaeldrywater 7 months ago
@michaeldrywater Do you? I don't see any vids of yours proving you can do better. In fact, I don't see any vids from you at all.
JesseArrr 7 months ago
@michaeldrywater
Go learn some Djent; in fact, he can do some jazz as well as Meshuggah style stuff, so give him a break.
Madbutcher305 7 months ago
@michaeldrywater What the fuck is 'supposed to be played'? Anyone can do whatever the fuck they want.. ESPECIALLY Misha.
HCXanithon 7 months ago
@michaeldrywater i hate you fuckers who think that a 7 string much be used for jazz licks, fuller chords and slow, creamy scales. that may be what it USED to be for but not anymore. to be honest, that type of music isnt even popular anymore. so what us metalheads said was "well i love lower tunings but i love keeping my high notes as well" and so we adopted the 7 string into our music. i dont care about playing technical because i am not a shredder. i play slow and heavy. and thats how i like it
deathcore1239 7 months ago
yuck. i don't get why people like these amps

acquiesce1993 7 months ago
And where's the guy to play some hard rock and 80's metal in these puppies?
brunopv85 7 months ago
@brunopv85 Yeah lol I was actually expecting some dude with a perm and a bandana to bust out some shreds with his floyd-roseified kramer. That's usually the standard demo for high-gain amps.

lets get right to it, youll recognize this cab right away. this is an orange head. -_-
wxp24 8 months ago
@wxp24 The head also has a "cab" containing the chassis and the amp itself
frankibiris76r 8 months ago
@frankibiris76r ive never heard anyone use that term before lol

I can only describe misha's playing with one word: djent. That motherfucker is ridiculously djenty. In a good way.

kvncldrn 8 months ago
@overtheunder1993 "Sludge" music is what comes out of shitty sounding solid state peavey combos. This is an ORANGE. They are High quality and should not be eq'd to sound like fucking "SLUDGE". Go buy a cheap shitty peavey 1x10 combo amp for that crap.
DaddyDevilKingGhost 8 months ago
@DaddyDevilKingGhost This isn't sludge, and the build quality of orange amps kinda sucks...not so reliable.
I find them muddy sounding but that's taste, some people do sound good with them.
timjatomnee 8 months ago
@timjatomnee The build quality of Orange amps is MUCH better than most Marshalls (dsl, tsl, jvm etc.) and just about every amp in it's class. I am not talking about the combo amps made in china I am talking about their heads made in england. They are not the best for say ... speed metal, unless the Bass player knows how do dial in correctly but still a Framus cobra, dragon or even JCM800 would be better for that. BUT Orange wins for music like Down, COC, Clutch, QOTSA etc. JCM800 can work also.
DaddyDevilKingGhost 8 months ago
@DaddyDevilKingGhost I have seen pictures of the inside of modern Orange amps, The components like capacitors are hanging loose. I don't like the feel of the amps but that's personal like I mentioned before. I wont even start about modern Marshalls, I don;t like them, I used to own a DSL50 but it was thin sounding. The JVM sounds like crap in my ears, it sounds very thin, it lacks mids and focus, and when it sounds thick it gets boomy. What is the class? The guts of my Brunetti's look much better
timjatomnee 6 months ago
@timjatomnee Never heard or played a Brunetti. The only problem with the Rockerverb 100 I have is on the clean channel. When the volume on the guitar is up you can hear a little noise from turning the amp from the volume all the way down and bringing it up. Almost as if there is a short in the clean volume. But it's under a 2 year warranty from Orange so we'll see what happens. I do agree the new marshalls sound like garbage to me as well. What I mean by "class" is price range, 50w 100w tube amp
DaddyDevilKingGhost 6 months ago
@DaddyDevilKingGhost There are 5000 dollar amps in the 50w class, also 500 dollar amps. Enjoy your orange!
I highly recommend brunetti ;)
timjatomnee 6 months ago
@timjatomnee 500 or 5k in the same class? you are not that dumb. When something is in "the same class" we are talking about a similar product at a similar price. Did you not read what I wrote? Idiots pay 5000 for a guitar head. Why? Because you can get something WAY BETTER for 2k. Trust me. I've spent many years on the road with the biggest names in the industry. Many long nights of conversations about gear. Musicians with unlimited amounts of money and resources. Orange is 1 of the Very Best!
DaddyDevilKingGhost 6 months ago
@DaddyDevilKingGhost It's possible to read it in 2 different ways. I don't agree Orange is 1 of the best, the build quality is so so, there is no possible discussion about the tone cuz it's personal. A matchless is very expensive for example but also sounds awesome, 2 rock etc...
I also own a 1959slp like amp I have built myself so I know something of the insides

But they should have played a few riffs with the gain brought back down to a more moderate level, too.
eric22rr 10 months ago
@eric22rr Totally agree with you, but the videos are Monsters of High Gain :P Although i see where your coming from, you cant judge a purchase based on these demo's, but for seeing whats got the best high gain sound they are awesome!
Jordantm0 10 months ago
@Jordantm0 I never said I was basing a purchase on these videos. I understand their call, though -- and I don't blame them for focusing on super high gain. I'm saying I would like to see just a tiny bit more. Like you said, it IS the monsters of high gain, so it shouldn't be a surprise. However, it's important to remember that there's more than one definition of "high gain". Plenty of high-gain amp users use very low gain settings (I'm talking about the gain knob, specifically.)
eric22rr 10 months ago
None of these guys play the proper style for this amp. This is one of the ultimate sludge amps, man.

@overtheunder1993 yeah, i don't really see this is such an ultra high gain amp as these guys demonstrate. no offense to these guitarists, but just an observation.
keeelane 6 months ago
@overtheunder1993 what do you mean by sludge
Ryanincambonia 6 months ago
@Ryanincambonia DOOM! Slow reeking putrescent metal from the depths of the human soul. Look up Eyehategod, Crowbar, and Electric Wizard.

@overtheunder1993
I could agree with that. Really, they need King Buzzo to come in and play on it :D
DeadWhiteButterflies 6 months ago
Ibanez tube screamers are over-rated. Go with the Maxon OD9. Looks the same, and gives you twice the power, warmth, tonal range, and is less noizy
N1V3K0141 10 months ago
Why even have a clean channel section if its a Monsters of High Gain video? haha
thelaw003 10 months ago
this amp has wayyy more gain than i thought. and it sounds great as well. the gain is smooth and not all harsh and cheesy sounding. nice amp.

@GuardianOfFate12 if so obviously misha won.
SASchertz 8 months ago

BionicSam 1 year ago
@johnstangg Well the video is just to give you an idea of the differences in each amp. But then again, it's better to do so in person. But if I can find it on fearedse's channel, it helps my decision making out a lot. lol
JVM410ftw 11 months ago
The only thing bad about this amp, is the spring reverb. I'd much rather have plate reverb.
WarmothGuitarist 1 year ago
@WarmothGuitarist
Do you know what plate reverb is? You can't fit it inside an amp, n00b.
twoheadedboy 11 months ago
@twoheadedboy No shit... Can't imagine anyone fitting a large piece of sheetmetal into an amplifier. However, there are digital recreations of plate reverb being installed in Marshall amps. Sounds much better than that old spring shit. Spring reverb just sounds horrible.
Oh and the word "n00b" has been worn out. Time for you geeks to come up with something else to try and degrade someone.
WarmothGuitarist 11 months ago
@WarmothGuitarist I agree with spring reverb sounding horrible... But that's what my reverb pedal is for..
JVM410ftw 11 months ago
@WarmothGuitarist
If you don't like spring reverb, put the reverb pedal of your choice in the loop.
twoheadedboy 11 months ago
@twoheadedboy You're still talking? You said your statement, I said mine. There's no reason to carry on a conversation about reverb, fuckhole.
WarmothGuitarist 11 months ago
GAWD DO SOMETHING IMPRESSIVE INSTEAD OF GENERIC CHUGGING.
filteredwataaa 1 year ago

I think Slipknot use this amp live, seen in a You Tube interview.
topcatification 1 year ago
@topcatification slipknot does use them. no clue what pedals with them. owning an orange though, they sound best without pedals. especially without distortion pedals.
