Well why don't we all just put only the best musicians in Stryper? You know replace the whole band because none of them are the best I mean this Kenny guys is a better drummer than Robert but Satriani and Vai are better guitarist than Michael and OZ While were at it Billy Sheean would be a better bassist than Tim and Singer Hmnnn well I'll let you all decide that.. My point is why not let Stryper be Stryper with the original line up? This is childish and so high school.
I loved Stryper back in there hay day when I was a brian washed christian and every now and then ill rock a Stryper tune or 2. And fyi Robert wasnt the only one doing it up, there were other members in the band drinking drugging and banging chics as well. Sorry to burst everyones bubble but its all true. I know because i seen it first hand, so in essences Stryper are a bunch of hyporites. And Kenny is a better drummer than Robert!
What you read below is not my words, but a source. From the people I know, they say Michael or the band will not comment as to why Robert didn't play on the record. But they did say Michael expects/demands nothing less than 100% and he pushes the guys very hard. That he can be very hard to work with behind the scenes. HE wants things right and sometimes him and Robert don't see eye to eye sometimes. Michael just wants to put out a good product and a great show for the fans.
#2. Kenny charted the tracks while on tour with John Fogerty and then came in and recorded 12 songs in 2 days. I actually like the drumming on this album way more than Reborn. It's more powerful, better sounding, and more fluid with the music.
I really hope Robert gets his mojo back and he rocks the tour!"
#1. Did some investigating and found this: "When they were working on the parts in Boston everything was fine. The band then went home with Robert living in Las Vegas. Over the next few months Robert didn't work on his parts or practice at all. He lost his demo cd and basically just sat around. When it came time to record, he wasn't ready physically or mentally and since the band had a similar problem with Reborn (with Robert), they decided to use Kenny whom Mike had know for years.
I do know Robert didn't play on one of the newer albums, not sure which one it was. COuld be Murder by pride. Something is up with RObert, he doesn't play like he used to. HE has lost that fire, showmanship, power, and he doesn't even play his own songs accurately anylonger. Seems like he is sandbagging it. I think the drugs mest him up. Glad he's clean now, but you can tell his body is even skinnier and much thinner. His brother looks good & been taken care of himself right, but Robert, hmmm.
@ZR1KOH I have seen the last few concerts..I was thinking something was wrong w/Robert..then @ another, he seemed tired, but I thought he was just hamming it up for the crowd. I do remember when they were all much younger, Robert was "The Visual Timekeeper," and would rock back &forth to the beat with so much energy!...I miss those days...Of course, Michael could hit the higher notes back then as well, &hold them out longer. But, hey, I look forward to them playing in heaven like the old days!
Are you serious!?!?!?! Better rip up your RX to ludes dude... Quit startin rumors! and quit startin rumors like that your not gay as well.... Aronoff couldnt hold a tune in his burlap sac. . . . towelbiter!
Wait youre saying that rob sweet did not play on murder by pride. This guy did, your full of it. I went to Chicago and saw that tour I bought the Shirt the poster had it signed and bought the cd. Guess who playing drums at the concert and on the cd.
i just checked my cd cover for murder by pride and it does not say Kenny it says Robert Sweet so i think you need to check your sources and i will be talking to michael in a few days later
i forgot you live in Vegas...forgive my question in my response and please keep kickin major butt on drums. i use your drum work to try and help keep my speed and stamina up to its highest porential though i play a very different type of drums. but it helps me keep my rythem also
if it wasnt Tin Gaines on THWTD and IGWT....who did the base work? it doesnt list any other bass player for those songs anywhere in the sleeve that i saw. and why didnt Robert do the drumming on MBP?
Brad Cobb played on IGWT and Matt Hurich on THWTD do a google search you can see official pics from THWTD of the band and Matt. The suit for THWTD was made for Matt and didn't exactly fit Tim right. Randy Jackson (American Idol) played Shining Star on AGTL.
Timothy Gaines Was not on THWTD, IGWT, and on the track Shining star from ATL. Michael already had Reborn in the bag, but the rest of the members of stryper help lay extra tracks down including Timothy Gaines
Well that makes sense to me. If he uses another studio in addition to the one in his home, that could very well be in Maine. Southern Maine isn't that far from Massatooshets. :D
Hello everybody, Yes he lives in B.B. Mass. but the studio work besides his home was done in Maine, Remember family is so important don't forget to love one another! Robert 777
Hey Robert....I understand, and from what I know,. he lives in Cypress.....Who cares. But as a drummer and a lover of Stryper, not just because they are cool NOW...., let's not dwell on who is playing drums for Stryper. Let's think of Michael, and the kids mourning the passing of his wife.....
Thanks Guys just to let you know, Family takes first priority and mike being in Maine is just to far to do studio work for me living in L.V. so Ken's doing my studio and I'm still the Stryper drummer thanks for your concern. God Bless, Robert
Hey Robert. good to hear from you. i grew up listening to your music. I was raised christian, but your message put it all together for me. Hope you are doing well and hope to see stryper in toronto one of these days. God Bless.
The above poster, STRYPER777ROBERT isn't really Robert Sweet. If it were, he would know that his own brother lives in Massachusetts and not Maine!! LOL!!
I have wondered for a long time if Robert wasn't very jealous of Michael's voice. It was just a vibe I got, especially in that interview where they have a look alike stand in for Robert and everybody looks real surprised when he walks in. I mean, everybody!
Haha these comments are funny...even more the funny is this video! Its just like "c'mon man"...until Stryper lets us know otherwise we stick to what we know...Robert Sweet is forever(until otherwise officially noted) the drummer for Stryper. I have no problem believing they used this guy to do studio recording though...especially if they are demanding more than Robert can dish out these days(time has its effects on musicians right).
Bands occasionally use studio musicians to do album parts. There are 3 Stryper albums that do not have Tim Gaines on them, yet still were considered Stryper albums. Tim was still part of the band. This is nothing different.
Do you have the info for this? From what I understand the only Stryper albums Tim Gaines did not play on were Reborn, the Roxx Regime demos, and the upcoming Murder By Pride. Your "yet still were considered Stryper albums" doesn't make sense because in order for it not to be a Stryper project, all the original members would have to be no longer in the band. Sonicflood is not Sonicflood, but Rick Heil kept the name because he joined them before all the original members exited in 2000.
OK, I know the facts on this from very detailed info. from the book "Loud N' Clear" the story of Stryper, pre-Reborn days. Tim Gaines did NOT play on To Hell With The Devil, or In God We Trust either. You HAVE to get and read this book. It really explains a lot about the band and how this came about. Lots of great info. for all of us old-school Stryper fans. I can't beleive I was only like 13 or 14 when I started listening to them.
That's wild man that Gaines didn't play on Stryper's 2 best selling albums, who played bass instead? I'll have to see if I can find that book anywhere.
he's not the new drummer, Robert Sweet is still the official drummer for Stryper. Kenny did some studio/recording work for Strypers new album, that's all
kenny is EVERYONES drummer
