as i've explained in length before, the enjoyment I got out of destroying these toys and making this video is worth much more than the pitiful amount of cash they would fetch me on eBay (and as someone who has sold a lot of old toys on eBay I can attest that open toys don't get you much at all). these are not works of art, they are mass manufactured pieces of molded plastic and besides, most of them were busted already.
what's that cobra vehicle at 1:11 called? i have that at my parents house and in my recent research (that lead me here) i was trying to find out the name. ( i searched gi joe fireworks)
awesome fucken explosions. awesome fucken intro. how did u come up wit such an elaborate design wit the red white and blue? that shit just stood out to me. i was like i could never come up wit somethin like that.
"They wrote in the old days that it is sweet and fitting to die for one's country. But in modern war, there is nothing sweet nor fitting in your dying. You will die like a dog for no good reason."
Alright, that was a great waste of some great Gi.joe stuff. I liked the explosions, but come on! You could have selled those on ebay or blow up some star wars crap!
nothing was destroyed that wasn't already broken. Besides if i really wanted to sell some of my old toys i'd sell that star wars crap because they're in better shape to fetch me money (also star wars dudes in lincoln log cabins... not as convincing).
since i'm having this debate with a few people right now i went to ebay and did a little research. had i sold my box of toys on ebay i figure i would have made $20-$30, an okay amount of money but not much really. consider now the average budget of a short film or music video (we're talking hundreds of thousands of dollars). now consider that i made mine with leftover fireworks and a box of used toys worth roughly $25 (Total actual budget $0).
the explosives were 4th of July mortars, one big one and three little ones burried in the ground under the Joes. You'll notice on a few that there is a little burst then it cuts to a bigger explosion, the mortars were pointed down so that the first burst that would normally propell it into the air would send it skyward. unfortunately it created a small explosion that sometimes fucked up the scene before the big explosion blew everything apart.
this video is a GI JOE KILLER! person who created this should remove there youtube and never blow up a toy again!
