it may seem like he's putting his gun away but he's actually sprinting when he does that and his gun is still in his hands

Esquabar's right... when I run, the gun is slung off to the side. Its a fine line, when to run or not due to the time it takes to get a full grip on the gun again. Sometimes, it takes too long and your dead. I try to have the gun ready when I don't know the situation.

At around 3:30 its a good example of how I thought I knew the situation, so I run for cover to where I think its clear, but had to run back around the corner to get my gun out, if I stood still to get my gun out, he would have killed me.

You press and hold 'I'. You can only do it once per round.

I treated myself, in game you get one 'bandaid' per round. It's used to reduce bleeding until a medic arrives to heal your fully.

But you can't 'bandaid' yourself without completing medic training.
