  • Dude you are a great drawer please make a FaceBook Page

  • Thanks for tips but for some reason I suck regardless I mean my dad draws so good and I draw like crap I don't know maybe my dads talent will rub off on me someday but for now I suck

  • 777 YOUR recommendation of drawing an image multiple times cannot be stressed enough!! practice makes perfect!! it is the best advice for any artist!! 777 I liked the drawings you did from your brain without using a reference, It is that skill I would like to see more people develop....unfortunately everyone gives up and takes manga/comic book lessons... which is cool looking art, but when you have it become the new industry standard, it just ruins an artists individuality/unique characteristic

  • @TeamLeaderPG 777 what are your thoughts on this?

  • beautiful art

  • I always wondered this about artists drawing sexy women: How did it feel to draw the boobs?

  • Your teenage situation is 80% similar to my life right now. Thanks for the tips i will keep them in mind, all the time.

  • i can tell that you like drawing boobs.... LOL

  • This was uploaded on my B-DAY!!!

  • I feel worse about my self because I have been drawing since I was 6 and that's grade one and your old "from the mind" things are better than mine please someone reply and tell my why I suck at something I do constantly

  • have not drawn in years man! thanks alot bro!

  • The left i mean

  • The leg looks funny and you can see a nipple on the right >:(

  • Very inspiring, hyped up to draw right now. Thanks for sharing

  • do you believe art is for everyone?

Sometimes I wonder if i'm never gonna be able to move on. Even your old "from the mind" sketches are better than mine. I'm pretty good at copies, but that's all i can do. I wonder if my mind will never be able to work like that. I really just get scared and wonder if I'm wasting my time. I'm afraid to do an art class because I'm afraid of drawing really bad and failing in the class.

  • @animemefreak74 comparing yourself to professionals its the WORST thing you can do as a beginner. your best is your best, keep trying, drawing takes A LOT of time, a little more or less to everyone since we learn at a different rate. Keep trying, challenge yourself, reference stuff, just practice. Practice makes perfect.

  • the fact that you found some of your old drawings okay even thought they were terrible provides me with laugther and motivation not to low my standarts like that. for that I thank you.

  • The drawing at 4:14... is completely inspiring to me. It's amazing! :D!

  • I wish you could daw up my tatto

  • @qman11112 I could design it for a small fee. I'm also a tat artist.

  • @architectus777 sometimes i get a little obsessed with drawing what do i do ?

  • @architectus777 sometimes i get obsessed with drawing what do i do ?

  • @shazam803 Just draw, dude! :D xxx

  • @qman11112 start by learning to spell Tattoo :)

  • is it possible to do characters and environments with inking, coloring, drawing, painting etc..? not entirely a master at tricks of all trades but become somewhat of an expert in multiple areas

  • @punkzorr Yeah, many artists in the industry do that. I do everything for my comic, even write it. End of All

  • Y is it all girls u draw

  • Hey what books do use, do you get references from anywhere

  • well i give up too man i started again and gave up again and now im really depressed!I thought i had a talent man... every told me i had talent at drawing..pff i never draw good enough for me!I mean people tell me that my drawings rock and i hate em...i hate that...i really wanna be talented at sth...I've tryed everything so far... i mean... everything... and i now ended drawing again... badly though.....i dont have patience so i have a little problem ...

  • i really love your work :) past few years ive had depression and found it hard to find motivation to do pretty much everythink including my art put after watch some of your videos including this one if has motivated me alot to push myself to carry on my art for what i like to thank you :) x

  • @JustLilKelly1 YW. Thank you for the comment.

  • our ugley thing is as good as my BEST THING EVER sadley lol

  • is it okay to just draw? You know like just drawing whatever? Because I know that I'm only 14 and can not go to a art school just yet. I'm pretty sucky but I think art is art whether it looks dumb or not.

  • Can anybody help me? Does it matter what i learn to draw first, humans or animals, because i want to learn how to draw animals first, then humans.

  • haha i bet this guy jacks off to half those sketches

  • @fanbam715 That's a childish comment. Besides, why would anyone do that when there are loads of quality free porn sites?

  • @fanbam715 you got owend by him :P

  • whats the perfect square method?????????

  • @Slalza Go to my site, then drawing. Check it out.

  • @fanbam715 Sounds really silly to make such a claim. I guess you're jealous that you can't draw that well. XD

  • Can you do an entire series teaching all the important information that you said you learned from the books and videos? Just the important information about shapes and stuff that would help one to understand how to draw people, objects, animals, ect. as well as coloring. That'd be so helpful.

  • Bahh, I got all pumped up by reading the comments. Then I saw your work is still 10 times better than my best. You did give me good information though. I never draw from reference because I don't like it, but the video made me understand why I need to. Thanks.

  • lol what to do when a bad picture pops up?....... blame it on a family member =) love it, very inspiring videos.

  • Thank you so much. You have no idea how helpful this was. I have become super frustrated with my art lately and I feel so pressured to be the best of the best when I know Im not that good yet and I was literally just about to give up on 8 years of taking art classes. This has really helped me and Im going to go watch all your other videos plus some others and do a lot more practicing to try and become the artist I have always wanted to be.

  • This is really amazing!! You have helped me so much, thank you! ^^

  • I'm stuck at drawing hands D:

  • @Deidre230 Yeah, drawing hands is hard. It helps to use your own hands for reference though.

  • hey i love hr gigers work..

  • Are there any books that you recommend for struggling artists looking to better themselves?

    ...like me?

  • You make me feel so much better about my art. I have a lot to learn (or, more accurately, I need to practice more), but I'm not horrible. Love your videos!

  • Im 19 and I just got into art school and im not that good there are tons of people better than me am I too late in the game to become a full fledged concept artist?

  • Watch this everyday for inspiration and its working Thanks for the upload, it;s motivating me to aim high Calarts FTW!!

  • im an okay artist but i have trouble getting motivated, and just figuring what i want to draw

  • i jus wanna take the time out of my busy day to say....thank you

  • @k120392 If just half the viewers did that, this video would have been so much more popular. :)

  • @architectus777 How long have you been drawing? How long did it take you to draw that well? Did you take any drawing classes? What advice would you give to new artists?

  • thank you for posting this, I've been drawing for as long as I can remember, but never really put the time in it to get better, thank you for motivating me to keep practicing.

  • Hey do u know any books tht help ur drawings be more 3-D and more realistic

  • oh thanks man i would like to keep drawing as a back up, but im very busy with my musical knowledge.too bad theres only 24 hours in a day my day needs to have at least 40. but this video made me more motivated to keep up my drawing, thanks again for the inspiration and motivation.

  • good job

  • I would like to be a concept artist as a career and I know that you said that concept artists must be able to draw from their mind and so I need to ask...do you have any advice for aspiring concept artists?

  • @Lanedude08 Draw something from life, then wait 10-20 minutes, and draw the same thing again, but this time without looking at the real object, and without referencing your own work.

  • Im Subscribeing this helped me in so many ways

  • thumbs up if u subscribed

  • i like the skeleton

  • Very Encouraging!

  • @TikiStudio Thanks, I'm glad I could help.

  • shit can I get some copies of your images LOL

  • hey .. can u help me ??? i want to become artist .. i draw sketches of celebrities and famous peoples in about 2 hours ...and oil portraits of celebrities that everyone recognises easily...also i have made sketches of my brother and friends from live and i haven't learned drawing 4m anywhere yet ... i am doing B.tech but i got no more interest in studying ... if u say i can show u my drawings ... plzzz help me out by telling whether i can end up in a good artist or not .. plzz reply thanks!

  • @littlenit1 It depends what kind of artist you want to be. Being able to draw what you see isn't all that important a talent in the art world, being able to draw from your mind is, such as comics. Concept artists, for example, must not only be able to draw from their mind, but they must be able to do it quickly and creatively.

  • @architectus777 i have heard many great painters do use a refrence whether photo or live models etc. why so ??? they have even done lot of study on human anatomy ... so why can't they create realistic type portrait completely from their mind ?? i think they should be able to ...

  • @littlenit1 Yeah, but to make it as a painter is nearly impossible. The use references because ultra realism is very hard to acheive from your mind.

  • you rock!!

  • I agree with you...."Follow your dream", great inspiration video... Thanks for sharing.

  • this is awesome man your awesome haha

srsly this vid was great because you describe what i feel exactly and im sure others do aswell! frmo reference i can do pretty dam good! but from my mind pretty bad :P haha im trying to improve that and slowly am but its hard to keep at it since it takes a lot of time and practice to get better! but srsly you give confidence to people in this vid its pretty cool

    so thanks for that man

  • I've actually been looking for a video or story like this. I was starting to think good drawing comes from birth. Thank you

  • One of the best videos pertaining to art tips.

  • yeah there was a few times i wanted to give up becouse i thot my art wasent good enuff or that i just suck at it, but i think ill just keep on trying my best pluse i have my own idea for a comic book series, ive been trying to improve my art sints i got out of high school in 2003, i think i could finde things that will inspire me to draw like maybe my favorite video games animes comics or movies that might help, and your art is pretty good keep up the good work.

  • your a great artist, but your tutorials are nude, umm can you not make nudes no offence

  • Any advice for a 28 year old art student?

I fear that when I graduate in a few years that I may be too old to break into the business.

I am a fine arts student now but when I complete my fine arts training, I intend to pursue a degree in multimedia computer graphics/ animation.

I did what you did. What I mean is that after High School, I gave up on art and worked a ton of crappie jobs. Years later, I signed up for art school to pursue my dream!

    Awesome video! Your drawing rocks!

  • Nice video, thanks for the pep talk :)

  • wooow ur kin of a perv

  • wow ur kinda perv

  • What if I don't know what kind of art to draw?

  • You drew alot of pornographic pictures

  • What books can you refer to anyone wanting to learn how to draw?

  • Thank you for this. I was feeling really discouraged but now im good. :)

  • your are a perv

  • napoleaon dynamite drawings as teens SWEAR ! (:

dude thanks you alot i take art1 as a freshman and i blow after watching this..i will be amazing good as you ,

  • all i can say is thank you, i am now motivated enough to get back into my art, i think i needed a kick start and you my friend have given it to me

  • thank you so much i was about to give ur and you motavd me not to thanks

  • God awful, take a lap.

  • wow you know what ive been using your advice without ever knowing, id draw something off google images as a referance, then id make something up in the same pose and it works i guess...its weird you really cant tell you are getting better it just happens over time, i found this video not cuz i was bummed out that i couldnt draw good, i just need motivation to pick up a pencil and create something, but lots of nights i just cant get in the zone and end up watching vids on youtube =P

  • Thanks man, I'm planning on being a tattoo artist. Just left High School :D

  • Damn....... my brothers are both 22 and 24, and I always ask them, how did you guys get so good at drawing and sketching, they always say they don't know to them it's not that suprising. Then I ask my mother, how are they able to do that?, she says " They're born with it" I ask my brothers how do I start doing this because it's something I always do when I'm bored. They say to practice, I've been drawing since I was about 8 and I'm now they're age so someday I'll improve.

  • Love it man. I'm a musician who loves art and drawing as well. I say I'm decent but you inspired me to do both. I'm going to buy a sketch book and start over again. Thanks man.

  • I am so honored to know that this video has motivated many of you to keep practicing and studying.

  • @architectus777 so if i look at a image and break it down into simple shapes to draw the image will that teach me the things i need to know to draw characters for comic books?

  • @jjstudios100 It will, yeah, but for comic books, you are going to want to practice the human figure a lot. I'd check out my free videos on how to draw the human figure from your mind.

  • @architectus777 thanks:)

  • Great work (: u have inspired me to keep going and to study more things and not work down haha thanks man life saver (:

  • WOW! THANK YOU! i have always been so insecure about my artwork. i know i have the potential to draw great things but i have been only good at drawing from a reference like you and it had really shot me down because i was never able to draw the visions i had in my mind only from pictures and such i feel so much better knowing someone also had the same problem and was able to tune into their mind and learn to be able to create! im very much into Jhonen Vasquez work but more like JTHM than Zim

  • I struggle with stick figures, can you help me start from there? :L

  • Thank you! May God Bless you! you have been a great help. i quit drawing several times yet i keep coming back to it. Keep it up :)

  • If it came from your mind and you put it on paper, it by default isn't horrible. You've won. That's my attitude towards art. What is it? Why are we doing it? It's the process. First is your own enjoyment and second is making others enjoyment.

  • There's no hope for me becoming an artist. I'm really bad lol =]

  • This really help't me boost up my confidence. Now i remain hopeful i'd be able to draw proportions and maiby inprove on my art. Cause they'v been pretty simple so far lol

  • Man u said exactly what I needed to hear and thanks cause I needed that so I can get better

  • man thanks for waking me up,,....

  • i just started back at drwing a month ago and i can't draw a human figure. so should i just keep trying to draw a human figure and reading books or something else?

  • drawing is a hobby of mine can i still be a good artist?

  • @acg91495

of course you can, be patience, do your research, & be consistent if you do all that then you'll be fine.

That's good advice, I should apply that to my situation. :P

  • Wow you really helped me! Thank you very much!

  • LOVE THE PINK PEN ;D

  • LOL! i love looking back at my old work. Its like stepping back into my mind from the past. I try to remember what i was doing the day i drew it. I feel its really good to look back at your work. It shows the level of how well you can transfer your creativity to the paper.

  • As someone using refs, studying anatomy, and etc...it's very helpful to see your videos, & to have you share your early work with us[it wasn't so bad!;)]...lots of videos I find on youtube & deviantArt are very tiresome and dull to watch:/[and I'm lazy to start with, like a lot of people watching your vids,I guess!?:D]You have an easy and pleasant manner, and your videos are very watchable and helpful..thanks for sharing,I shall have to check out more of your work!*hugs*:)

  • LOL " look at that, that is ugly as hell" great vid

  • Your videos helped me so much. I just started the first art class in my high school career, and my teacher was really surprised on how well I did. I have the same story with wanting to make a comic book/ manga, except I am a little bit earlier. The muscle work, line work, key shading spots on the human figure, and more of the how to draw (insert character here) videos would help so much! Keep doing what you are doing! You are so awesome!

  • do you have a video where you tell how to do clean line work like you said you didn't do in your earlier days?

  • wow thanks, that was awesome info

  • hey man, amazing work .... congratulations!

you could make some videos of simple anatomy, with forms of reference.

  • I agree 100000%

FFS, My highschool years I didn't draw at all, because I thought it was too boring. Now I have to friggin make up for the time that I've lost not drawing. Now I draw like 6+ hours a day to make up -.-

For everyone who want to give up. DON'T!! Draw for 3 months, then look back at the work you've done, you'll see HUGE improvements!!

  • Thank you so much for everything you've done. :)

  • I hope your water bottle is OK.

  • @thecamlayton LOL, it survived. It's a survivor.

  • holy shit yetserday i was ready to give up on everythng to do with my art even my graffiti but since watchig this video and seeing you drawings and the goal that u have acomplished boosts my confidence that some day i will be able to draw like that ty for making this video :)

  • I did the same thing. Around 1996-97 I stopped drawing for a very long time. I would pick up the pencil every 7-8 months only because someone asked me to draw something. When I draw by looking at something it always comes out great but from my mind it's horrible. It's funny how you said try to draw from life then from the mind. I tried it a few weeks back and it came out almost just as perfect. So that is really good advice.

  • Man!! I stop drawing since 1996. But now I started back since 2009 (at the age of 31). But it's not easy since I work full time and finding the time is not easy. But I try anyway to draw as much as possible. Thanks for this video. Peace

  • The suggestion you made, about drawing something from life, then drawing it again a short while later from your mind sounds interesting... I'll have to give that a shot. Thanks!

  • My art class sucked. every time we had it, he just told us to draw what ever we wanted :( I want to be some sort of concept artist. But my drawings looks worse than the once u did in 1995.

  • @IbbChr Just keep doing the exercises and read books etc. Also, go to my site and download the free software Master Edit. I'm always updating it with newer images. I want to completely replace the models with better ones, which I will do soon.

  • @architectus777 I mean Pose Master, not Master Edit, sorry.

  • @IbbChr

Don't give up dude,, you're still young, it wasn't until I was like.. 18-19 when I wanted to become a concept artist.

Don't be intimidated by great artists, be inspired by them.
