Winnipeg isn't that bad you just need to know the right people.
Me and boyfriend are both native and have never been in any gangs. We live in Winnipeg now but we use to live on a rez. And we never expirienced any kind of racism besides cab drivers thinking we're going to rip him off. Or store workers not helping cause they think we have no money to spend. But to hell with them!
We just need to be stronge and stand our ground. Hopfully our child will grow up being as strong and proud as us.
what i am trying to tell my brothers and sisters is that there are a lot more postive places to live than wpg for native people. just the fact that you feel the need to tell me that you weren't in a gang is enough. the idea of standing your ground is good but you also need time to grow. maybe that should come first before you take a stand. btw you are very strong!

well listen i think the main point is that winnipeg is a very hard place to grow for native people right now ..there are a lot of good people in winnipeg(of all races) but there is a undercurrent of unhappiness towards native people, that leads our people to feel like 2nd class citizens in our own country! i left and i can see winnipeg a lot clearer now and i have to say how good it feels to live somewhere where you don't feel unwelcome! it was a big deal to me, to have that feeling
