KEVIN NEAL is one of the BEST guys you could meet. A true friend of mine. And his drumming in my book is unmatched. These videos are old and of poor quality and just listen to him. I hope to see him back on tour soon! ROCK ON...
THAT IS DRUMMING!!! Just listen to the difference between the drums here and the others. It drives and is powerful. Kevin Neal ROCKS! Not to mention the rest of the band! Bring it back PLEASE
I opened for travers that year . At a little place in Terryville ct. I hung out with PT and Mars before/afrter the show they could not have been cooler.
I played guitar in the opening band for Travers when they came to Superior, WI at the Pacific Club. Then the guitar player named Jerry Ryggs played like I never seen before! That dude was awesome! I felt like quitting! LOL
@fxe1200 I hate it when you see someone that plays guitar so well it makes you feel like quitting, and I've seen a lot of people that can do that to me!
My band played a show with Pat just a few months before this in Charleston, WV, and had a great time. Wish we had this good of a crowd, but make no mistake... Pat & the boys came out and delivered like there were 10,000 people there. He had this very same line-up: Jerry, Mars, & Neal, and I don't need to tell you it was CRUSHING... as Pat always is! Thanks again guys for one of my fondest memories playing music.
YES! It was at the Capitol Theatre and you are exactly right on the date! It was just such a thrill for my band to be warming up for THE Pat Travers. We were absolutely on cloud 9, and I think we ended up playing pretty good that night too.
Yeah, don't remember your band's name, but if I'm not completely outta whack, you guys did a cover of UFO's "Makin' Moves" that was quite good. Never heard anybody cover that before, so it stuck with me.
Our band's name was TANGENT, and we did used to cover that UFO song. I would guess at least 95% of the people who came to our shows didn't know that song. Didn't matter to us... we liked it so we played it! Even without Schenker in the band, that tune was a rocker! lol. Actually, that whole album "Wild, Willing, & Innocent" was good. Man, you've got a tremendous memory! We probably did play "Makin' Moves" that night, but even I don't remember for sure.
If this thread is still goig... Didn't you guys use to play at Fern Park Station in Central FL also? I played bass for Black Sunday and Asylum Choir back in those days and played the Station as well. Got to play in Travers studio in Orlando and meet the band along with Paul Chapman! We were all under Omni Talent Group mngmnt. Travers, us, Molly Hatchett and Foghat!
No, we never played at the Station, but the lead guitar player we had has been there and is familiar with the venue. Our singer and a rhythm guitarist we had currently live in FL. That's cool you got to hang out with Chapman & Travers. Being a drummer, I always had a lot of respect for Mars on bass too. Since you're a bass player, I'm sure you also did. He was excellent.
they fucking killed it!!

Of course now it's more like "SNORTIN' MOUNTAIN DEW CODE RED AND DRINKIN' N.O. XPLODE CAFFEINE!
It's just one of those tunes that hits you the first time and sticks to the roof of your mouth like a heaping spoonful of Nutella.

Right on! Ain't Jerry just fabulous? It's a damn shame he never achieved more recognition! Rock on!

Sounds like the road manager needed a guitar headstock to the teeth.

Jerry Riggs has a few solo albums. Did a song for the Heavy Metal animated movie as well. Know them both, Pat and Jerry.
