  • This is really inconvenient for pregnant lady, old folks and those fractured. Bad luck.

  • what if someone farts?

  • There should be an Audit check for its financial i wonder is there a financial starvation so much so that they can't maintain the track?

  • Yes Sir/Ma'am, only available while meeting Angmohs, so shameful:(

  • CLOVERFIELD!!!

    :DD

  • curse the ah tiong

  • smrt

  • L4D!

  • Aw man. Didn't get to experience a train fault. Only a SBS bus fault...

  • simple case of "THE GREAT LEAP FORWARD". More speed, YES MDM. More Trains-> YES MDM. Cut Cost.YES MDM. More Profits->YES MDM.

No Choice, Must Obey, Got CAR Loan,Got Condo Loan, Got Credit Card to Pay.Save up for Kids Education. Better save my job and train up on Tai Chi.

  • The passengers actually looked more excited than anxious O.o

  • Thank you for this free tour of the MRT tunnel. At least you can see the light at the end of the tunnel, and you live to take another ride.

Money wasted in unfinished trip: About $2.00

Time used to shoot this video: 3½ minutes

Time wasted inside the train: Priceless

  • i don't agree with the uploader saying that we keep complaining about the gov. etc.

if u are travelling on public transport and especially on MRT, there are just far too often breakdown and even catastrophic type and if u can recall how much have they spent to improve on service quality alone let not talk about safety in this case ?

  • Some take picture or video especially man because when they got home, their wife will be asking " why are you late? Go city for prostitution or what?" that's how we got divorce high rates

  • @ultramaxify lolololol!!

  • @c4un544n5 It's true XD

  • "Dude, we just paid to walk down the tunnel!" <<< MUAHAHAHAHA! Classic!

  • Free tour of the NSL tunnel...

  • 3:27 it made spending effort to watch the otherwise boring clip worth it.

  • We Singaporeans have got to relax a little. Complaining and criticizing the government or SMRT for the delays and technical faults could be good. But until when are we going to complain. Fact is we still need them and their services. Mistakes happen and life needs to go on.

  • we paid a Malaysian woman S$1.8 million(US$1.3 million) for such a job....

Break down 3 times in 4 days...worst of the worst

  • The CEO of SMRT(Spore) salary is S$1.8++ This CEO from Malaysia still rise the fare ....claim the SMRT need to earn money..

my family income only 2% of this woman CEO.

  • If MRT breaks down again tmr, 3rd world service will become Lost world.

  • One must remember, Minister, Political group , Goverment change. The middle management dont. We should look at them. These ppl earn big bucks too and are usually under the firing line. Look are all the jia liu type. They belong to this group.

  • No. PAP - Pay and pay... jkjk

  • I think people rather enjoyed it... Judging by the fact that they were busy filming rather than worrying about getting rescued.

  • Thats even worse that the vandalized MRT train story in May 2010

  • Maybe could be the ghost tunnel...I read that in the news...

  • The tunnel looks like we're playing the game Left 4 Dead 2

  • The tunnel somehow looks scary. LOL

  • from damaged seen(newspaper), something was protruding to damage the contact shoe. It was ok earlier, that means screw loose due to vibration. thats ok, just screw the maintenance officer in charge. If broken, then screw the procurement in charge. Anyway, The goverment must make it a point to fire the person that benefit the most financially from the public service business, A business where citizen do not have much choice to choose.

  • I notice there was no safety officer on the track or end of track to guide pssengers.

  • I always look out the train and wonder the feeling of being outside , in the tunnel & I always wanted to have the experience . If I were to be on train that day , It'll be my lucky day !

  • For some reason, I think smrt has too many lines. NS , EW, NE n circle line....

  • You're not black, so don't try to copycat talk like that, yo.

  • I'm glad the people there managed to get out, without any harm befalling.

  • Real life L4D...

  • dont like this video, what kind of idot would say that ?

  • SMRT - Shitty Motherfu*kingly Retarded Trash

  • long walk.

  • oh damm. they going to increase SMRT ticket price to compensate for the damage cost, foriegn experts and fine that the goverment going to slap them with.

  • Make sure the next management does not own a car. They should all be made to take trains to work. Then they will know the world of shit we are in. With our foreign experts, technologies, scholars holding all decision making decisions and multimillion salaried talents, How can this happen? Like always, slap on the wrist with a fine that is less than one days takings. Warning and CEO goes off to another GLC. By the way, who are the shareholders that used public funds for capitalization?

  • Why are we making noise?Simply because this is not an accident. It is a failure in maintenance. It means, ppl are sleeping on the job,not changing parts when they are due time, not buying actual parts but cheapo parts, not employing and properly trained personnel, Saving cost? Worst- max profits!. We are lucky that it is just a breakdown. If the train had derailed,a fire breaking out? Does anybody have any idea how many people would have died! Ignorant fools, Somebody should hang for this.

  • they breaking down the train so ya'll take cab instead.. smart uh

  • Fgsds

  • they are preparing us for a zombie apocalypse

  • i totally want to walk in the tunnel too

  • wah lao. plese dont make fun of us razerexx

  • RaZerExX is an racist, who hate singaporans right?

  • Such childish Singaporeans, train breakdown then ask CEO to step down? Who the hell are you? If you know how to use words, then why not you replace her position? Managing a train system is not easy as it seems. Please grow up, you are too simple-minded.

  • THE SMRT UNCLE SO COOL.SPH STEP DOWN LAH.LET THIS UNCLE BE CEO.

  • its like.. a once in a lifetime experience .

smrt sucks anyway . bus always late, cab fee rises, train break down .

next time we can all ride bicycle to sch/work liao : ( HOSEHBO

  • Yep...it's SMRT 's fault. Very disappointed now..3rd time.... Hope they can reflect on this issue

  • SG really is done for. If you hear the voices you will hear... China and pinoy mix... GG

  • 6. Bus system no need so much infrastrcture. No need the BIG National stadium sized bishan depot. No need signalling system, automatic brake and all that shit on the rail. No need big 100m long station.Just road , parking space and bus stop will do.

    7. Bus is less prone to terrorist. terrorist blow up one bus, they kill 60 ppl only. If they blow MRT, they kill 1,000 people.

    8. Bus is more reliable than MRT. I take bus as much as MRT. whole life, I saw only 1 bus failure. 3 mths 3 mrt failure

  • 4. Train must stop at every stop. If you live in Woodlands and travel to Raffles, got 12over stop in between, then must waste 2 mins every stop to pick up passenger = waste 1/2 hour. Bus can redeploy some bus to pickup at Woodlands, some to AMK ...and they can all join the same highway and go directly to city center.

    5. Expressway speed limit is 90kmh. So bus highway should also safely can go 90kmh. Already when i sit in bus at lentor, the bus only travel at 50kmh, already keep up with mrt.

  • @ASSHOLELA and what sort of progression are u talking about? are we not better than our neighbours? Do we not earn top spots in various places? Are these not progression? Get out of ur comfort zone and make urself useful instead of expecting government to feed u all the time baby. Singapore is just small, like it or not population will be a problem. there is a limit to the amount of frequency of trains. Are u expecting SMRT to conjure up magic? Dont be stupid.

  • @TsJuSck

So? even if we are number one we still have to progress. LKY said this himself. Or else the rest will catch up. Complacency is our downfall.

Im making myself useful by giving suggestions. I wrote the same in ST forums as well. You on the other hand, are nothing useful.

Singapore is not small, its one of the top 50 largest cities in the world. Other cities of similar sizes can handle or do away with this problem. Like Adelaide. Why cant we?

  • And its exactly because that trains cant run at such a frequency that we should do phase it out and replace with a bus system. Trains are fundamentally flawed in this respect, frequency. Our old guard noted this themselves and anticipated that the population will never grow to such a extent as to cause problems. But it has. in 1980, there was no such concept as BRT. MRT was the most viable solution.

  • back then noone thought of dedicated busways. Its always bus on the road shared with cars. So I dont blame them. But today, countries like columbia, Australia, Brazil and France are experimenting with BRT and found it an extradordinary success.

However, Singaporeans, and todays govt are too status quo mindset such that change is very hard to make. They think that since we already adopt MRT might as well continue to improve it without changing. So such problems.

  • Why bus better?

    1. Bus highway can have multiple lanes. Not stupid ONE LANE MRT TRACK; If one train stall the whole line stall because kenna blocked. If bus stall other bus can overtake.

    2. Also because many lanes can handle more buses at once. That means can carry more people.

    3. Bus no need so big frequency like 2-3mins. Train must put that stupid signalling system to avoid crash. But you see the bus on the road can literally tailgate one another.

  • They should replace the stupid inefficient faulty MRT TRAIN system with BUS. LTA say bus suffer from traffic congestion. Not bus that go on public road, But Bus which go on DEDICATED HIGHWAY, like train never suffer from congestion. If they can build NSE, they surely got space to build BUS HIGHWAY.

But no. LTA build even more MRT line which mean even more chance of disruption. Then they build NSE for more cars then the cars number go up again in 5 yrs then it also congested.LTA = stupid.

  • @ASSHOLELA dont be stupid la. Just 1 freaking isolated incident that happened 3 times in a short period in 20 years and u complain train is stupid and inefficient.

  • @JJayChannel: So what you are saying if you goof up at your job continuously, its ok? Mistake after mistake after mistake. Already SMRT had said, it is not wear and tear.

  • Smrt - Singapore Most Rabak Transport..

  • cool

  • Instead of only seeing subway tunnel scenes in Hollywood movies, here was a chance to walk through the tunnel haha.

  • Ok

  • Train Otaku can't sleep because he's not the first to do tunnel tour.

  • Shit how many hours are u trapped down there

  • @beson5514 24-78 mins :))

  • Uploader , How Does It Smell Like In There ? :B

Didn't Expect The Tunnel To Be Circled-Shape Though ..

  • @Haikel98 a mixture of sweat and puke? haha. it got to a point where it was really stuffy.

  • Thumbs Up If You Typed " MRT Breakdown "

Cool ! Finally Someone Took A Video Of It .

  • BIGGEST NEWS IN SINGAPORE.

  • The commuters suffer, the shareholder laughing to the bank with SMRT dividend, top management still inside the cool and bright office talk cook sing song, need to ask when is the last time the politician take mrt?

  • Lol if the back up generator exploded, there would be a giant fireball that will travel down the tracks and kill everyone

  • and ur on channel news asia now XD

  • Just saw tis on channel u!

  • I heard 1 girl saying her friend farted when they walking on the tracks

  • Comment removed

  • this is so cool like inside a video game! yeah!

  • Cool dude. Your officially famous.

  • We should be glad that it's just a breakdown, and not some serious case like China bullet train crash which cause many innocent lives.

  • LOL!!! SO many people taking pics during the walk in the tunnel!! make it seems fun!! i wanna walk tooo... =x

  • It should be kinda fun !! I wanna go down and walk too :(

  • Comment removed

  • luckily no one set fire! otherwise we will have a ghost train in singapore.

  • oo 1st time saw SMRT break down

  • That's why, pay 70000 COE, save you from all this trouble

  • SMRT keep breaking down. Just wondering if I could have a chance to walk on the track.

  • If your train is nowhere to go and you stop halfway, then you balme the transport minister *TUCK YEW!*

  • 3:28 what were you thinking back then uh? ha

  • fuvk i consider buy bicycle ride from changi to jurong ..smrt cannot be trust

  • ya lol

  • This was on Channel 8 news LOL

  • Fuck you YO!!!

  • fun

  • "we paid to walk down the tunnel" HAHAHA

  • I think its about time SMRT personnel should wake up from their daydreaming!! it is very disturbing to see how the MRT personnel react unprofessionally during the chaos. After this incident, they should undergo a progressive and intensive training on how to handle problem that arise in an unexpected circumstances. SMRT should improve on their system now and then. Five hours of downtime; it is unacceptable.

  • lol this video funny at the front part :D

  • We paid to walk down the tunnel :D

  • @xPaien hehe..i agree...once in a lifetime...

  • once in a lifetime experience

  • What country is this?

  • LoL? I am in the mrt too. Maybe i just grabbed you when i was afraid. ;X

  • Aww I want to walk down such a tunnel too!

  • Walking through the tunnel looks hella COOL.

  • at least that uncle is polite~

  • Why is the video filmed in this strange aspect ratio/orientation?

  • @pointplace the person used iphone.

  • Dead Space!

  • SMRT damn FAIL

  • I don't even know until i watch the new , i was thinking WTF?!?!?!

  • I think SMRT cannot be blamed completely for the incident as there will definitely be wear and tear on the tracks and human errors is unavoidable. This is similar to your electrical appliances undergoing wear and tear and will break down sooner or later. I think this is only an incident for SMRT to reflect and I believe that SMRT will learn from this incident and better manage such situations if it occurs again in the future.

  • @JJayChannel True, but I doubt any reflection on their part is going to happen. Their CEO is going to show up, apologize, then wake up tmr as if nothing ever happened...just as she always does.

  • @JJayChannel when you increase fares for stupid unnecessary reasons and call yourself a "First World Transport". Customers/passengers have every right to blame SMRT. if you have shits like mrt stuck underground and fully packed trains then dont increase the fares.

  • @JJayChannel uhh... you DO realise... if your electronics break down, the onus is on the owner to replace/fix the appliance.

So... your point... just proves... NEGLIGENCE on SMRT's part... so... in a roundabout manner... yes, you agree that it is SMRT's fault...

  • @KouzukeRan The thing is, they DO examine the tracks every day. I used to live near an MRT track so that's how I know. From midnight to about 2am there's a yellow maintenance train which runs along the tracks to check for faults

  • @Channe1F2k Right... they check everyday... Right now, those words and such actions... mean nothing.

Even if they did check, these episodes show that the 'checks' failed to detect the flaws on the track. Either that or that they ignored the flaws till it got to such a level.

Either way, it boils down to negligence, which is the perfect word to describe such a situation.

  • @JJayChannel My electrical appliances which undergo wear and tear do not affect thousands of commuters for more than 5 hours. Being the main provider of such public services in our country, they have to ensure that such incidents do not happen AT ALL.

  • @JJayChannel Saying such incidents are unavoidable is just a lousy excuse. The long time they took for the commuters to evacuate shows their poor management and unpreparedness to handle such situations. Furthermore, the message that was sent to the taxis really made numerous people enraged. Their poor excuse of "using the wrong template" and the sacarstic content of the message shows SMRT is not at all apologetic.

  • @MsFreakinfunny In 20 years of service, a problem arise for its first time and u complain so much. And there is nothing wrong with the message send by smrt to comfort drivers. Already, singaporeans like urself r complainnig of lack of taxis. With the train breaking down, u want taxis to come. Using income opportunity is true and logical to attract drivers to the affected locations. Which taxi driver out of town want to go all the way there specially to fetch u? They are not obliged to do so.

  • @TsJuSck Wow. Your last comment is amazing. By that logic, if SQ crashed and a few hundred people died, it will be ok to send this message to the undertaker "Money making opportunity. A lot of new corpses coming your way from SQ crash. Be prepare to celebrate a profitable year!"

  • @tancheeken r u dead?

  • @TsJuSck

complacent people like you who somehow manages to get into PAP are the reason why the country never progresses in efficiency. So what if there are 3 disruptions in 20 years? One disruption is one too many, besides, there is not only 3 disruptions in 20 years, but over 20 disruptions in the past 3 years. And they are getting more and more common.

  • @ASSHOLELA Cool Story Bro. Go write a novel about it.

  • @TsJuSck

and the problem has always persisted. Almost every month I encounter a disruption of at least 15mins on the track. And thats only me. What about the total frequency?

And what about the longstanding problem on congesion? even if MRT does not spoil, its congested. It cannot handle the number of passengers who take MRT every day.And not only once in a while congested. Its every day. Should we not do something about it?

  • @ASSHOLELA OH dont be so stupid. What has this got to do with PAP? u expect PAP to send their man down to check the lines? PAP has to do every small things like repairing ur lines? Authority and responsibility are given to SMRT and it is not a government company, only government intervention. Give them some time to solve the problem. If u know nothing about things, dont think its so easy to fix problems over night. Dont be so quick to nibble at others.

  • @TsJuSck

PAP = govt is responsible for the master plan of the entire nation. They should anticipate such problems with an MRT network. Especially congestion. They should also realise like transport analysts have,I quote from STimes that MRT is no longer viable in a city with this population, and that reliability will suffer given increased passenger load and frequency. its not their problem with maintainance. Its their problem with going ahead of the current build more MRT plans.

  • @ASSHOLELA

Don't worry, when Workers Party and Tan Jee Seng come into power, everything in Singapore will be perfect. There will be no transport problem, no housing problem, everybody will have a job and Singaporeans will live happily ever after.

  • @ASSHOLELA maybe ur just so damm suay to encounter them every month. if u think ur that smart, go make some money and take a car

  • @TsJuSck

Oho. we have a troll here who challenges others to make themselves useful to Singapore when they have actually also not contributed anything themselves , not a suggestion, other than their vulgar criticisms of others.

Get a life or get out of Singapore. Singapore can do better with foreigners than people like you.

  • @JJayChannel

comeon. They perform maintainance. Would you wait 10 yrs for your freezer to completely break down Then all your food rot and you get stomachache before you replace? Same, SMRT must replace that 3rd rail before it completely wear and tear until die! But they didnt. So their fault.

  • Hey, did anyone notice the tunnel ventilation fans are switched on?

  • Don't mind walking that track..

  • Let steve jobs be CEO :)

  • Interesting

  • how long were you trapped in the train?

  • @maldova approx. 40 mins?

  • Good Job! No need to complain, in times like these, staying cool and cooperative solves the problem.

  • Good job old man. I'm sure most of the commuters wouldn't mind walking down the tunnel out of curiosity.

  • maybe singapore should make underground tunnel like this without the train. then at least we all can either ride bicycle or walk hahahahhaha

  • 'we just paid to walk underground, yo '

  • bloody hell.. WORLD CLASS AH

    So stuffy....

At least install backup fans in the trains larh!!!

  • @ZestaRoxs no power, back up fan also no use. they should have open the back up door in the first place but they delay till forever then open. slow response

  • @ZestaRoxs Hong Kong's MTR trains has this little window which you can open in times of emergency.

  • LOL, MRT staff probably came from 4ch. HAHA!

  • I hate SMRT and the bloody CEO but I have to say this is interesting.

  • that stupid boss of SMRT should step down

  • the ceo should resign
