i was born and raised in south philly .....this is a south philly tradition that the south philly vikings are trying to steal credit for they should be embarrassed....there r many other brigades and some way better....keep the mummers in south philly where they belong and stop trying to steal the thunder....only real brigade clubs are on second street.....if you want a real fight bring all the brigades on americas got talent........ show them what they are really missing .....not only part of it

@phillygirl709 I don't think they are trying to "steal" credit. They just happened to get chosen for the show, because they auditioned. Other clubs can do the same. Each have their own styles, so it isn't stealing.

When I am out of town and tell people what we do New Years day they don't understand, now a lot more people will know what a Mummer is.

I am sure that after looking at just Pete in the costume and the robot, the judges and audience at first thought, "oh great, another moron trying to get 15 minutes of fame." That costume and a prop like that are normal for us to see, but they've only ever seen that from a contestant just trying to be on tv. Then, BOOM!!! The prop opens up and the Vikings start dancing and shock the hell out of all of them...and America. Let's go Vikings!!!

You can see more of this in person every New Years Day at the Philadelphia Mummers Day Parade. It's quite a show and the Vikings are only one club of 11 in the Fancy Brigades Division. There's three other divisions of the parade..The Comics, The Fancy Division and The String Bands. Many have compared the parade to a Broadway Show. Only difference is we're not professionals. We all have normal jobs throughout the year. This is our way of celebrating New Years and putting on a great show for all!
