Of course its my opinion... just like everybody has theirs and u have urs... u say its complicated. it doesnt seem complicated to me but thats the whole thing of opinion, they vary. forums are one thing, with the reviews u can watch and even like gsmarena full review they express that it is nothing like symbian. the iphone interface is fun and "simple" and u cant even open properties for a picture. to me thats stupid. i dont have ur Comp. BSc but i've had Symbian* and now this and they differ.
i think things like the styling of icons in the N900 menu are irrelevant. im sure in a few weeks when everybody gets theirs (like i got mine tuesday) there will be theme like downloads to change them. and ppl are sweating the small stuff like Apps. when the iphone came out it didnt have any at all. the N900 hasnt even reached most ppl and ppl are making cool apps already (emulators etc) i think Maemo is a good platform with immense potential. without all the restrictions of the iphone.
to be fair i cant speak much for Android because i've never had one long enough to take any good stance the WebOS is aright however that device didnt impress me enough and as u can see its hardly mentioned with the likes of moto droid HD2 and N900. As for Apple hahaha please, i had the first(2G) and the last (3GS). the interface is the same icons on a desktop. nothing to it. its simple and cool sure but its no longer impressive. the apps grew but the interface hasn't really hasn't changed much
Use your 3GS to listen to Spotify and send me an SMS at the same time saying that it's useless to have a multitasking environment?
Yes, it will consume more power, but if you do pretty much anything with your phone, you'll be charging it once or twice every day anyways. If you're a heavy user and use 3G, GPS, Wi-Fi, BT and media features a lot, you'll run out of juice within hours with any smartphone. I use IRC (ssh+irssi) on my phone(5800xm) when i'm out so it takes its toll on the battery.
you can lose the stylus too since it hasn't been a requirement for previous nokias nor will it be for this one :) The multitasking and several desktops features are impressive. There's a video of N900 running 30 apps with minimal lag. I myself really don't wanna be starting and closing progs all the time so keeping them active is a perfect option. The size really isn't a problem, it's not that much bigger than a 5800xm nokia or iFail 3GS, a bit thicker tho.
i'd hit it if she doesnt talk an i dont have to look at her nails
only losers complainin about its size r iphone fangirls and people who think tha n900 is a phone
bout as thick as my E70 closed so its fine wit me.. threaded SMS <3 tho camera needs work this is a clear winner to me I'd choose this over iphony, X10, X2, Milestone or HD2.. cheap launch price as well
Just a few pointers - Lucy said this is a phone. Nokia want to market the N900 as an internet tablet with phone features. Catchy! Also, I heard Maemo is pronounced "memo" but I'm not 100% sure about that. Looks a great product though.
when you want to zoom in you swirl clockwise and to zoom out you swirl anti-clockwise! stupid woman.... go do your homework, im only 12 years old and i think i know gadgets better than you!
Maybe she doesn't understand that it is a resistive touch screen, and expects it to work like a capacitive? The point of the resistive touch screen is that it is more accurate, but you need a little bit of pressure to make it work. From what I've heard it is one of the most sensitive resistive screens out there.
man fucking niggers, why from suddenly have they started to act like brits? didn't brits invade their rich country and steal everything they had and create todays africa? LOl
Engadget seem to regard this handset for developers more than consumers. I think nokia have even said that. Odd how they went with stylus design but that multitasking looks fantastic.
unrelated but I ordered a HTC magic for my sis and I cant wait to play with it
Its for both really, developers will love it for the fact its open sourced so they can dabble with code and get the bets out of the hardware. Consumers will like it for the usability and the applications that'll be available from the developers.
Like the SNES emulator for example. :)
Think its good they've included the stylus. It's nice to have the option even though Maemo 5 is pretty singer friendly. The resistive screen is a well made one.
It's a fantastic hand set, I've had mine on preorder from Nokia for a few months. Due out end of this month.. If you're unsure after the car crash of a phone that was the N97, check the other videos on YouTube and you'll see this is an outstanding phone/internet tablet with great specifications and a brilliant OS.
Hell, it even has a MOZILLA firefox web browser! Doesn't get much better than that for webnuts.
i bought the 5800 express music and i was conned out of my money by the peeps at carphone warehouse who said it was better than the iphone. i was going to buy the iphone but they said the nokia was so much better
Yeah they pushed you into that sale, I was persuaded to buy the N97 and regretted it. However after months of research, I can safely say the N900 blows them all out of the water.
the n900 has: -full flash support -a better resolution (x2.5) -fm transmitter -multitasking with 1gb -better camera -replaceable battery - 4 homescreens -skype is fully integrated --HSDPA 10 Mbps -linux = open source so why would anyone sensible choose the iphone over this??
wow.. so sexy.. sleek , black and beautiful. you are stunning my beloved N900!!

Yeah, Nokia doesn't seem to have a graphic designer in the house...such a shame, although all icons can be replaced by better looking ones.
