  • all these negative comment!!! ugh u ppl make me sick..he can play give him his props

  • good tone and everything, but theres a lot of pulling the mouthpiece forcefully to the embouchure and being extremely tense on the loud and high stuff. An excercise i have found useful in the past was play the first 5 notes of a scale slurred, then legato tounge, then stacato and then up a half step- usually starting on G in the staff to D all the way up to A toTripple peddle E.

  • Fidelio, what's the second?, Ein Heldenleben, 7th Beethoven, 9th Dvorak :)

  • @P0dDels

This is really late, but I believe the second excerpt is from the second movement of Mendelssohn's Symphony No. 3 in A Minor, Op. 56 "Scottish."

  • Hes pretty good but he doesn't have a very good breathing technique.

  • god the acoustics in that room are.. TO DIE FOR! I want to go play there.

  • An awesome sound! And i like your playing very much!! Very huge range!

  • Very nice. Keep it up.

  • BEAUTIFUL!

  • wooow very very nice!:)

  • you rock, way better than me

  • you totally rocked strauss out!

  • Great Job on the Dvorak! Great tone!

  • Your Dvorak was pretty great, and the high note was even better than Phil Myers' (Principal of NY Phil, look up their performance on YouTube).

  • i bet that phil myers just made that mistake once and he will never make it again

  • His 1st movement solo sucked, too. Nothing will step up to Stefan Dohr (it's on here :o).

  • I hardly think so !!!! Admitedly Stefan is a legend but come on mate !!

  • Just listen to the solo. The performance is up here under many aliases. It's practically perfect.

  • There's big difference between playing excerpts in a band hall for YouTube, and playing in a live concert with one of the best orchestras in the world.

  • And BTW, this guy Jon Johnson, doesn't sound that good. There are kids in schools all over the country that sound better than this. He looks quite tense.

While it is possible he will win a job some day, I would be surprised if he does.

And I'm sure he'll never be principal horn of the New York Philharmonic.

  • wow very nice
