i havn't seen either of his boxing matches but there's a huge difference between boxing and mma boxing. in mma you're constantly worried about being kicked or taken down which makes it easier to land a punch where in boxing thats all that you can throw. roy jones is more experienced in boxing and i just think he'd have an advantage.

Roy Jones is a boxing master, Silva would not beat him a boxing match. That's analogous to Roy Jones jr trying to out-grapple a jiu jitsu master. Silva is a decent boxer but he's not on the skill level of Roy Jones(at his old age now) let alone his prime. Now in a MMA match Roy would get destroyed.
Silva's boxing record is 1-1. Roy is one of the greatest boxers of all time.

Silva could very well take jones' life in an mma bout, as leg kicks to the head could quickly end it before jones could close the distance. I maintain, however, that jones would maul him in a pure boxing match. Beating mma fighters who strike with boxing is no feat at all for even an amateur boxer. Time and again, mma fighters with a bit of amateur boxing instruction dominate in the technical standup. against a Professional boxer? no chance. it would be interesting to see, nonetheless.

im a fan of both, but if Diaz wants to get fed to the best in boxing, dont hate let em, the same goes for boxing guys dont talk it...do it.. atleast mma guys got balls and will do it....BUT dont pay em a boxers pay,just to make sure its for the sport and not for abig pay day,.mma guys can easily be pro boxer, but pavlicks, taylors are above that.

i agree somewhat with ur comment as i would like 2see sum mma guys try boxing but 2 b a pro boxer takes years training and boxers have 2 go thru the amateur program b4 they go pro at least in the us they do and remember ufc is 3-5min rounds unlike 12-3min rounds..mma fighters always lose steam during fights dont think they could handle the increase in stamina that is needed in pro boxing

1. mma is takes waaaay more of a toll on your conditioning than boxing does. i'm not saying boxing is easy cause it's not at all. but changing levels going from on the ground to the feet constantly and ground fighting alone so much harder than standing and trading...
2. nick diaz, vitor belfort, anderson silva, chris lytle, marcus davis and lots of other mma fighter have pro boxing records...

Nick has a professional boxing record of 1-0. He has stated that the reason he fights MMA instead of Boxing is because he gets paid more for MMA. He constantly spars with pro boxers. He would definetally put up a fight against these dudes.

Last time i check allotted boxing time is roughly 29 minutes longer than MMA. Boxing also requires more mental acuity than MMA. Any legit MMA fighter, in any interview you will find on youtube, when asked will tell you that if its Marques of Queensberry rules then MMA fighters stand no chance.

@BobReefer - Physical shape and mental shape, boxing has the edge. Their fighters are stronger in the minds, there for have longer and more productive careers, and they have stronger bodies that allow them to be consistent even during a match which can last 29 minutes longer than an MMA fight. Kelley Pavlic vs BJ Penn? Lennox Lewis or even an old Hollyfield vs Lesnar? Mayweather vs GSP? Marquess of Queensberry and the MMA guys have no shot. Not even close.

You have to be able to work takedowns, off your back, on top, it takes way more conditioning to have to fight of your back and throw up submissions then it does to stand there punch. Roy Jones was the best in 3 classes, got beat a few times, retired, came back at 40 and became a heavyweight champ again. If you lose a few fights in MMA no one books you anymore. You can say all you want about "oh mma is so versatile they use other things than their hands" because that argument is beat to death. MMA does nto take more training.
