  • And thus the sole Atari 2600 game with an actual ending. Wait, doesn't Marion look like a female enemy sprite?

  • I've never made it to the final level, thanks for uploading this.

  • These annotations are hilarious! I prefer playthroughs without voice. Hearing people talk are annoying. Thanks for this hilarious and skillful playthrough!

  • you win epic

  • Smell my sweaty arm pits and fall down.

  • @bazfanv2

    Bwahahahahaha! X^D U WIN! 100+ INTARNETS 4 j00!

  • Credit where it's due. The VCS actually did a pretty good Double Dragon considering. It does have advantages over the SMS, NES and even Amiga versions.

  • I wonder, are modern day consoles ever pushed as far to its limitations as the atari2600 has been?

  • wow, they actually did port it. nice for what the 2600 was.

the music can get annoying after the same 4 bars are repeated for the 598th time.

  • haha in the end your princess is one of the enemy girls , hehe but why when she is on the background she is with pink hair and after fight she is with blonde hair :D any way the graphics and sound are awesome for atari 2600 !

  • Double Dragon is 1 of my all time favorites. I remember seeing this on the shelf at Toys R Us as a kid for 7800 when I had my NES. When I got into Atari collecting in the late 90's I couldnt believe they managed this on the 2600! & that it came out in '89! It was the 1st NIB game I bought, I even called in work the day it came by UPS....This game is sooo frustrating it was the 1st & only videogame I ever threw at the wall (Split the cart in half)! LOL. Farthest I ever made was dead at Willy

  • I remember playing this game when I was around 6 years old (so 1993) and I found it really hard past the 3rd mission. My brother completed it but he was in his teens at the time! Definitely would love to play this again on ROM.

  • The music makes me want to hurt kittens.

  • That was freakin awesome. Seriously. I remember back when I was like... 8 or 9... my sister and I finally beat this game for the first time. We were so proud of our achievement we made ourselves a little trophy (out of toilet paper tubes).

I can't wait to show her this vid. I'm sure she'll love it as much as I did.

  • Not to bad of graphics for the 2600

  • haha, For 2600 standards, this was a fucking milestone.

  • At least the power level of the elbow smash seems to have been ported faithfully. As well as that Abobo music.

  • There were still people buying and playing 2600 in 1989. It was the machine everybody had in my town in Ireland around then. Or a Commodere 64.

Great video. I played this game for a year solid and got to the last boss ONCE. Damn near cried when he killed me. Such a frustrating game.

  • 1st time i tried when I was a kid, I was disappointed because the game was extremely difficult.

But when I know how using the elbow smash, I found that game easier and the time wasn't over compare when I used the kick and other moves.

  • I beat this game many times on my Atari 7800. But I never got the high score you did. Good job dude!

  • The music sounds almost like the NES version. The Atari 2600 version looks really cool.

  • You must be blind and numb. This is a piece of crap!

  • Have you played the Atari 2600 version?

  • I had no idea a Double Dragon Game existed on the Atari. If this is real why bother releasing this in 1989? They should have just scrapped it. Nobody played the Atari. Back in 1989 the Atari was an antique. But the fact didn't stop Milton Bradley from publishing the games though. There was such an abundance of MB Atari games that they were like 35 cents brand new still in a shrink-wrapped box. Perfect, no signs of age nor wear.

  • This is a good Atari 2600 game. It is unfortunate that this was released in 1989, the end of the '80s and the near-end of the Atari 2600 (to officially end in 1991, but come back in the late '90s through homebrews and prototype discoveries).

  • I tell this is one of the best games ever made for ANY SYSTEM PERIOD. The game play is rock solid, its has different backgrounds for every fight scene, and it has very good theme music. Very good stuff for the Atari 2600.

  • I own just about every Double Dragon that exists and I'm Impressed. This is the hardest one of them all. I never could beat it. I got to the final scene many times, but never fought the last boss. Hats off to you.

  • Heh, thanks dewd! I'm equally amazed with myself I actually remember how to beat this game when I was a teenager and pull it off with a different controller on a emulator! (I'm 33 now)

  • Music isn't too bad. It's pretty catchy. I never knew Double Dragon was on this system either.

  • The Atari 2600/7800 versions were released in 1989 believe it or not.

  • 1 of the best games of all time this was! argh i cant get controls work on stella, any help appreciated!

  • lol Billy Lee looks like a bum.

  • WTF The girl looks like one of those Enemys lol. thx alot for the walkthrough.

  • i never knew this game existed on this system

  • You got some sweet moves there! Great combo work. Always wanted to see the end of this little game.
