nice method, though I've never used.. My dad is a uke pro every time I here him tuning it stayed in my ear. Say can check out my tuning video and give me your opinion, I'd really appreciate it Thanks
Great Video, but I have been tuning my uke this way and have found that this method makes my uke out of tune. I have tested this method with a chromatic tuner and it remains out of tune unless I tune to the standard tuning string by string with the chromatic tuner. Could it be my intonation or something else.
i got the A by ear, but i dont like tuning from the other strings, can i hear all the other strings individually? or do you know any other video that could show me?
Don't take shortcuts. Learn to tune this way and it will benefit you later. If you can hear A on the first string you can find the A's on the other three strings also. Give it a try and let me know how it goes!
Very good video....with some comedy as well! LOL A friend of mine asked me if I was in tune with A-440 the other day, I said heck I don't know, I'm in tune with my built in guitar tuner. Makes sense, an A tuning fork with 440 cycles per second. Thanks for the training video. 5 Stars!
The baritone (largest) uke is tuned like the highest four notes of the guitar D G B E. Soprano, concert and tenor ukes are tuned G C E A (C tuning) or A D F# B (D tuning) or C tuning with a low G string on the 4th instead of G a fifth above middle C. Hope this helps. Jim
Hi Jim, I'm a bit confused. I bought a Ukulele today and i also bought a book with songs to play but my problem is that here on YouTube the tuning of the Ukulele is G C E A and in the book i bought it's A D F# B also the chords are different with the tuning in the book. I felt like the chords to the G C E A tuning was much easier. My question is, Why are there two different tunings? :)
The only difference in C tuning and D tuning is that D is pitched one whole step higher. The reason, to play in a higher pitched key with tighter strings. All the chord fingerings are the same, only the chord names are different. I would suggest using C tuning, since it is the most popular now days.
My C string won't tune. :|

i tuned it to that, but im trying to play Jason Mraz -I'm Yours and it sounds completely wrong. :(

Jim, you're a great teacher, but is the tuning the same for all Ukes? I've just acquired a tenor and am new to it all.

Can is use a guitar tuner for a uke?
hunterawls 3 years ago
If you mean an electronic tuner, yes, if it is a chromatic (all 12 notes) tuner.

One of my favorite rules of grammar is you're (which is a contraction of you are)and your.
I'll use them in a sentence.
You are irritating.
You're irritating.
Your use of your is irritating.
