Just a hint. A jdm b18c can be a gsr or a type r. Learn to read the rest of the engine code. You guys with your "internet" knowledge make me giggle. I have a jdm gsr swap. From tiger Japanese auto. Its code reads b18c in bold. Then a few numbers follow underneath. It's a gsr. Not a type r. The bold numbers and letters read the same on both engines please learn before you spout wrong information

why use big cams when it has vtec.. why not upgrade to vtech w/ bigger lobes. if you can find one. vtec cams = way better econ and response at both high and low rpm. big cams = better responces and power at high but not so much at low.

Just curious, and can anybody answer this for me... Dig the car, but doesn't changing the cams kill Vtec? Correct me if I am wrong, but Vtec is valve timing right, so wouldn't changing the cams ruin the function, thus causing you to lose the top end power thrust you get, or is there a way to still get that power even after changing the cams? Compare/Contrast, Before/After, Positive/Negative? I'm a noob on vtec/vvti engines, input would be nice!

@jonate90 No, vtec is not variable valve timing on these engines, as you can see by looking at the cam sprockets, the cam timing is not variable. Vtec changes the lift of the cam profile, from 0 - 5500ish rpm the engine runs off a smaller cam lobe, when vtec comes on it changes to a larger cam lobe alowing more air to be pushed into the engine. vtec and vvti are different systems i believe, search how vtec works to help you out :P hope i helped :D

the way it works the vtec killers cams are engineered to be the equivalent of having vtec on all the time,the normal duration and lift of these cams is similar to the middle vtec cam lobe in a regular vtec cam,the cams come with a vtec solenoid block-off plate and they simply dont have the middle vtec cam lobe..is vtec at all time!!
