  • hey jen... when i was 11 i loved history aswell :) its one of those things that will allways intrest me... when i turnd 12 i wanted t work in a musiam :P i still do tbh hehe well i hope you are well and hope to see you in a new vids soon :)

  • Beautifully produced and performed Jennifer.

Now, 18 months later, I wonder upon what you have found or achieved, and whether you have discovered any lessons learnt from the past applying to your now.

  • What of the people who don't have the captivating voice? the charm, the talent, the youth -where do they belong?

  • so amazing. you're voice is also very captivating.

  • Thank you so much for turning those last few moments, here in my April night, into a gift. I LOVE the living of my life anyway, 24/7, but it's always especially nice when something happens to amplify its usual miraculousness. I'm so glad I chose to watch one of your videos. How nice it was this one, as it tells me so much about you. Not only in the content, but in your voice, your mannerisms, your expressions, and in the way you hold each item. I loved every bit of it.

  • This was wonderful, Jen! I am only now getting caught up on some vids I've missed. This worked really well how it was filmed. I've struggled myself how to make reading the poem or prose on camera and not reading it. You've given me food for thought in more ways than one!

  • All that talent and creativity was bottled up inside of you all these 20 years. Now it has finally broken out and it's pouring forth in a flood of creativity. I predict a wonderful artistic future for you indeed!

  • Oh Jen, you're so amazing! Every video you create is awe-inspiring! I wish SO much that you lived down the street from me, so you could pop in for tea every now and again! I'm sure we'd have wonderful conversations. You seem like the sort of person who could relate to almost anyone! You'll find love one day, I'm sure of it. If anybody can, YOU can!

  • "Now I am twenty, and what I want most in life is to be in love. But I still want to be an Archeologist as well." I really enjoyed that finishing statement. I am no expert of course, but perhaps they are both expressions of being in love and searching for love. One is directed to one individual-the man you love. The other is directed to a wider group or thing you love-Love for some ancient people, lifestyle, geography, or culture. The object of love my vary, but the feeling of love is the same.

  • This Video is a great work of Art. I understand your desire to be an Archeologist. To study the history of other peoples and their lives-to better understand your own. Perhaps examining someone else's life will be simpler and clearer. Many others share that same journey too. Every movie we watch, every love song we listen to, every book we read, every Video we watch-like this one of yours-is another Archeology Dig for clues and meaning in our own lives. Greetings fellow Pilgrims-I salute you!

  • In the early childhood years, we naturally enjoy books, imagination and fantasy. But as we "Mature" and "Grow-Up" we leave those things. We lose our sense of discovery and wonder. Perhaps we are really born perfected, and maturing and becoming a serious and practical adult is really the result of loss and decay. Some say we grown-up, but what have we gained and what have we lost? For this reason, I always admire Dreamers, Artists, Writers, Musicians, etc.-who still know the magic of childhood.

  • This is the way people are supposed to talk to each other. Very, very good job.

  • i agree

    this vid is cool =D

  • That was nice. I spent 15 years of my life reading every university book on science and I came to the conclusion that magic is real. Strange conclusion.

  • Your clip reminds me of the power of dreams and fantasy. Thank you

p.s. have you tried "Märchenmond" by Hohlbein?

  • Your video logs keep getting better and better. Thoughtful, dramatic, and sincere. A true artist who is not afraid to express your inner dimensions. Keep up the good work!

  • It's hard to find real love when you're in love with fantasy.

  • It seems that you've walked a wonderful road thusfar, and one that anyone who has dreamed about knights and fairies and counted books among her closest friends would understand. And so, watching this, I smile, and nod, and thank God that there are still others in this wide world for whom all of life can be a kind of story. I very much look forward to your future videos!

  • You're fascinating. One of my sisses is so much like you in demeanour it is a bit frightful.

O dear, that is not what I wished to say. I meant it differently. I enjoy your poems miss, I do hope that says it better.

Simply put; Thank you for this post.

I grew up on Narnia and Tolkein and am a writer of faerie fiction. I don't know why I'm so chatty today. Forgive me please. I am covering my mouth now.

  • It has been an honour meeting you ;)

  • THANK YOU. I like your videos.

Reading some of the negative comments, I am reminded that, as in everything there are those who have the courage to think, imagine, and dream, and those who without it, find it easiest to critisize, complain and destroy. Please try to focus on those who appreciate talent.

    thanks

  • Thank you for sharing your talent. It has reminded me not to neglect my own desire to write for expression. I salute your confidence at sharing your work via you-tube and add - continue to take little if any notice of the ignorant comments left by those few uninspired souls.

  • Keep it up Raven I'm a fan. Have you read Gormenghast by Mervyn Peake?

  • Thanks! I haven't read that yet but I would like to in the future =)

  • dont be mad its just the way i feel

  • no offense but when i was watching your video i realized that damn im really bored to be watching this stuff

  • That's ok, these videos are not made to entertain a very wide audience =) Thanks for taking the time to comment though!

  • Ah, to be your suitor, faire lady, but alas, I am way to old for you... Believe it or not, I have dabbled in archeology, write poetry and am now a librarian!

Please keep these videos coming as they keep me young. Thanks.

  • Thank you ;) And I certainly will ^^

  • im not sure what compels people to do things like this.

  • i hope that you find the love that you wish for <3

  • thank you ^^

  • I think your work is beautiful.

You are the first YouTube user I've ever come across that has replied to all their comments. Each reply is careful and unique.

In writing this, I am not asking for a reply.

In fact, I imagine it will mean more to me if you don't reply.

  • Thank you so much alliswel! I'm afraid I am still compelled to reply, especially to such a thoughtful and kind comment =)

I enjoy taking the time to respond to each comment as I joined youtube to connect with people from across the world, rather than to merely be a form of entertainment for them ^^

  • You'll have no problem finding love. You MAY have a problem sorting out which person deserves the focus of your attention :) Keep up the good work, you astound me. (BTW, have you read Neil Gaiman? Seems like a match made in heaven).

  • Thank you Bret! I haven't read anything by Neil Gaiman but I'll keep an eye out for his work ;)

  • i loved this one too!

  • Thanks Sarah! =)

  • May Love and You find each other when the time is right.

  • Thank you =)

  • you should thank god that gave you such a gift

being smart and pretty too (:

  • Thank you gfgfgfgfg43! ;)

  • You are the female Magus. With the enigmatic something of Mona Lisa.

  • Thank you so much! =)

  • I must say I find your ability to speak of what most of us think in such a seemingly cool manner very attractive ;P I look forward to your next videos!

  • Thank you Mikey ;) More videos will hopefully be on there way soon ^^

  • You know, you are very historical.. i like that feeling wich you make me feel when i watch your video.. ^^.. i like the old times too, and the history and fairytales.. ^^..

Keep on working this way.. ^^ ♥

  • Thank you Mekii! =)

  • again, an essay, a story....not prose... try to understand the way words sound and ring. Don't rhyme, but try using a certain measure.

  • Thank you for the constructive criticism =) Prose is simply written or spoken language without any rhyme, rhythm or metrical structure so I think this still falls well into that broad category.

  • well, then how do you differentiate prose from a story or an essay?

  • well done, made me think about all the things i had wanted to be growing up,i especially liked the part of ancient historians writing about things that reflect us now in the modern world. thanks

  • Thank you phen168!

  • I believe in magic.

  • What would the world be without it =)

  • you are so natural at storytelling, your voice is very soothing. makes whoever listen to think deeply. you are excellent at contemporary writing, and you probabaly are good at poetry. like a breath of fresh air, beautiful.

  • Thank you so much for your kind words! =)

  • Why do i feel so comfortable when i see these videos?

  • Very nice. Keep them coming. I agree you are a natural storyteller.

  • Thanks looseroots!

  • This a great stuff. You have a captivating voice. A definite storyteller.

  • Thanks Kelvin! ;)

  • You are so amazing, your story sounds like thoughts I've had laying on my back in the grass.

    Thank you.

  • Thank you so much DelphiPianoGirl! To know others have thought what I have thought is a great comfort in this world =)

  • brravo

  • Thank you!

  • very well done...

makes me think of why i choose not to express myself similarly.

  • Thank you! I think you would enjoy the journey of YouTube video making =) Let me know if you post a video - I would be happy to watch it!

  • This is lovely.

    You're good.

  • Thank you Demetrius!

  • Are Moteville :) Well put and very apt.

  • Thanks ;)

  • Raven, Excellent contemporary writing. In this prose (I didn't see the first one), I like the fact that you produced it in your bed-room. Often, a place where children open their minds to worlds within books, a blank sheet of paper waiting to be drawn on....to dream. As you recited, I instantly noticed elation in your eyes as you covered each year of the Life you speak of. I saw a giddy little school girl behind the mature lady before me. "Ah, to dream".

    Sal Sanchez

  • Pretty good, I kinda liked the first one a little better. I'm not sure exactly why but maybe it also has to do with the black/white effect. In this one, you can see the background which can divert the focus from you and your words.

  • Thanks Punintended! Yes, the first one has a more professional look because of the black and white effect and I think that worked well for the prose about the Stranger. For this one I was going for a more natural style, but I agree that it does kind of divert the focus. Though I like trying out the different styles =)

  • Jeepers... I kinda like this one a tiny bit better than the one that was featured. 5*

  • hehe, I'm not sure which I like better ;) I think this one is much more personal while the other one is more thoughtful.

  • Awesome job once again Jennifer - yay for vid proses!! It's crazy how things we do in life continues to change what we want to do later down the road.

Sometimes we want to take the road not taken (or whatever the thing is; sorry not a big Frost fan, I'd rather read William Carlos Williams). Dunno why I said that, just felt like it, ha.

Anywho, nice job on the memorization. Is there a specific facet of archaeology you are interested in, or just all of it in general? Lates!

  • Thanks Mike! I mainly focus on Classical archaeology (anything to do with Greece and Rome) but I also find lots of the other civilisations fascinating, although I do not like to go as far back as prehistoric (although I often end up finding that interesting too, lol).

  • remember me,,you sexy person,, i thought i should add very clever as well

  • Oh Jenny! So many things that we learned about you on this video! You decided very young what you wanted to do, which is pretty, because now it's like you are fulfilling one of your childhood dreams. It's crazy how each one of your dreams had something to do with some form of art. I hope your last desire comes true soon =D

  • Thank you so much Fabian! I have always been drawn to the impractical arts, hehe =) They make me happy ^^

  • I love your voice :)

  • Thank you Sam! =)

  • Yay. What a pleasure to wash up on your wordy shores. I've been trawling Youtube with a gathering sense of despair, assailed by mouth-breathers and cat-stranglers and, you know, stuff.

So, yes. This was a most delightful treat. Go you.

(But love can wait, surely? I think archaeology sounds more interesting. Just saying.)

    Kind regards etc....

  • Thank you for your kind comment, tendermalice! =) And I think love will come find me when the time is right, so for now I shall continue on my archaeological adventures, hehe!

  • Great stuff as always, Jennifer!

Will and I are looking forward to even more great things from you. :-)

    ~Megan

  • Thanks Megan!! =)

  • Nice to hear how your aspirations have evolved. If you have many interests, it can be hard to pick one and say, "that's what I want to do," when you really want to be able to do all of them! :)

  • That is very true! I think I was drawn to archaeology because it let me combine so many of my interests from foreign languages to history to art and literature =)

  • wenn es das hier noch gibt, in 20 jahren, bitte mach noch einmal so ein vid, ja? :)

  • Das ist eine gute Idee. Ich möchte das tun =)

  • Brilliant!

  • Thanks gocrazy4u!

  • I was only thinking last night, that we probably didn't like the same kind of books.. Now I know we do!! This was great.. and I can only agree 100% on all things said! When you get going proper on your archeology, don't forget to bring the camera when you go 'digging'.. :)

  • I'll have to get a video camera first, hehe, but I am sure I will soon =) And then I will definitely take it with me on my adventures! That is great we enjoy the same type of books! =)

  • The Hobbit was given to me as a farewell gift by my very first girlfriend, when she had to leave me and move elsewhere... I was 4 years old!! I love that book, still have it now, some 42 years after.. and read it now and again! And every time I do, I wonder what SHE does now.. so it did the trick, I've never forgotten her!! :)

  • That was a beautiful present! =) Definitely one not to forget ^^

  • Great prose! Enjoy listening to your clear english/ Aussie voice. The wish of telling storys to us 'kids' has come true. The Hobbit was the first book I read from cover to cover when I was young and have loved reading ever since. I am sure whatever you do in life and love you will do well! Mahalo and Aloha.

  • The Hobbit was one of the first proper books I read by myself as a child too =) And one of the ones often read to me by my parents before I could read. Thank you so much Rick!

  • Beautiful Reading Jennifer! Keep on writing !

  • Thank you John! I certainly will! =)

  • an archeologist in search of love! sounds like a great novel. maybe the protagonist could be Indiana Joan.

  • lol! That sounds like fun!

  • Ah, yes . . . love . . . that rare dissolving of self absorption that like a fall in an abyss irresistibly draws one to live for him/her, that in one day poses a myriad wonderings and surprises about her/him, and fulfills wants yet unknown, and paths not engaged were not the march with her... with her... with him... with him...

  • Beautifully expressed! I should like to see a video from you as I love the way you use words =)

  • Thank you, you are most kind. As soon as you desire love, it is within you. The world should have stopped... and listened... and contemplated... the wonder, the magic... in a young woman saying "...And what I want most in the world is to be in love...", for the starry night did, and shimmered, upon hearing her wholly embraced words.

  • That made me smile so much!

Interesting that all your dreams are of helping or understanding others. I think most people dream of personal glory or possessions.

    Watch out for magicians! ;)

  • Thanks Michael! I had not looked for a common theme in my aspirations but you have me thinking on that now, hehe..I have certainly never sought personal glory since that involves being looked at by people, lol! Possessions I do seem to show some interest in though, but they tend to be simpler ones like books *g*

Aye, I will be on the look out for them ;)

  • Yes, your posessions do seem to be either paper or rock. All you need now is the scissors!

  • lol!

  • That was superb! :)

  • Thanks Aaron!

  • Oh and if you keep doing these prose videos...I'll have to keep making room in my favorites. I love to listen, read, and write prose. XDDDDDD I submited some to my school literary magazine this year.

  • Thanks Ash! You should film some readings of your prose! I would love to get to hear some! =)

  • I actually have a small piece that I might be able to do because of the weather. It's about the sound of the rain. (Although, I also have some footage of the rain on my comp too.) hehe XD I'll look into it this weekend. I'm still working on my birthday video though...

  • Oh I'd love to see it! And the b'day vid as well! hehe, editing can be time consuming though so I'll be patient, hehe ^^

It's been raining a lot here to recently =)

  • I love the bit on age 11. haha I probably haven't told you this but you remind me a whooollle lot of my friend Sara (She moved to Cali. about a year and a half ago...I miss my book buddy. :( ) because of ya'lls interests. She is very interested in anthropology though not archeology. ;) But other than that...Yeah. Very similar. That's why I'm so confident I would really like you in person. XD

  • hehe, that is funny as you remind me a fair bit of a girl I used to work with two years ago who I got along with really well! I think it is thus guaranteed we would get along in person =)

  • A beautiful mind and lady.

  • thank you ;)

  • You are certainly raising the bar for what I deem a rating of 5 stars for a video. Great Job! :) *****5*****

  • Thank you Dale!! =)

  • simply beautiful

  • thanks! ;)

  • it always amazes me...when looking at those who have come before....

how like they are to us...

  • Me too ;) The similarity can be quite disturbing because they were so like us today and yet they sometimes did things that seem terribly brutal - and yet, similar things still happen today. Which raises the question of have we really progressed at all? Probably...but not as much we would like to think, hehe..

  • human progression is directly linked to intellectual advancement....we build on what has come before...

and where we do not learn from what has come before...there is no progress...

    ...I think anyway....

  • That is a good way of looking at it, and very true I think too. Analysing it again I think it is the emotional advancement that I was referring to and which has not progressed much. Then again, our intellect has the power to control our emotions so perhaps the progress has been linked to some extent ;)

  • I highly recomend the book "Looking for Spinoza"

It combines philosophy and biology in a unique way...illustrating emotion as a communication tool of the biological form to the intellect, and in life situations of stress and need...emotion is the Impetus to safety and survival of the organism...

  • Thanks! That sounds like a book I'd have fun with =)

  • the meaning of the referral....is that in my understanding advancement of emotion is not necessary...as emotion is as biological as digestion, and can be improved in the same way....to let one's stomach control them is just as unhealthy as letting anger(or the need to control) to dominate one's self....

    or so I think....

  • You sound like celestialsam. :) We always kid that American about her accent.

  • hehe, I'll go check out her vids =) It's funny how accents seem to evolve into their own thing sometimes

  • how ardent and compelling.. Never knew anyone interested into archeology as such. Btw, can you do any magic tricks? Lol..Just wandering since you used to be interested in becoming a magician.

    Yours truly,

    Justin.

  • Thanks Justin! I used to know a number of tricks when I was young, and would put on small magic shows for my family, hehe. But there are only one or two tricks I remember now (ones involving cards). I would like to relearn the others some day =)

  • A pleasing look at you I think. Very peaceful in a way as well.

  • Thanks David! I think the peaceful atmosphere came from filming it between the hours of 1-3am. That is the time of day I enjoy most as it is so quiet in the world and I feel at peace =)

  • Sublime.

  • Danke Andrew! ;)

  • Excellently told

  • Thanks Lili!

  • Excellent job!

    Well-written and well-performed.

  • Thank you Masha! It was fun writing this one ^^

  • That was awesome :) really good!

  • Thanks Jen! =)

  • awsome thouroughly enjoyed that :) i to also wanted to be and archeolagist, but times change i guess lol. Well done again :)

  • They certainly do, hehe...I wonder what I'll want to do in another 5 years! Thanks Rov!

  • I thoroughly enjoyed that. It looked natural, more like a vlog than recitation. Good work!!

  • Thanks janeczka! I'm glad the memorisation worked to make it more natural! =)

  • That had a sense of elegance that was very calming.

It is interesting how while our dreams change over those years of adolescence more often then not they circle round to what they were years before.

  • That is very true, and we often do not see that we are going back towards where we first began until we arrive there ;) Thank you Aaron!

  • Gosh, did ever wanted to be a grave digger :) No, it's dead end job lol

  • lol! That's a great line, I may have to use that too ;)

  • No copyright lol

  • excellent, hehe!

  • wicked, and beautifully recited

  • Thank you Brendan! =)

  • well written and a good performance! i really enjoyed it

    mb

  • Thanks Mike!!

  • and btw the tolkien and lewis are way better written than harrypotter, if i may vent briefly. hee hee

  • hehe, you are most free to vent - especially when it contains positive words on Tolkien! I love the works of all three authors but Tolkien's books are closest to my heart =)

  • best 3 minutes of my LIFE!

  • hehe, you are sweet Ralf! =)

  • BIG SMILE!!! Thanks so much, best 3 minutes of my morning.

  • Aw thank you, Keith! =)

  • Great video!

  • Thank you! =)
