@valeagathon A wonderful set of books. Enjoy them. I'm not a big SCI-FI guy, but I read all these books and Lord Of the Rings (have to read the Hobbit) over 30 years ago as a teenager. Still jave them all on my bookshelf and read them still today.
@mgwilliams1000 i have finished the third books.i'm waiting for christmas to come so that i can order the 4th one,the italian edition is out of market, apparently :(
With this in the background i can walk the driest deserts of dunes, fight 7 headed worms and be the hero that Dune needs, but why OH WHY can't i do what i should do, prepare for my exam!!! :-(
Awesome score to a great movie, better than the first one and 1984's attempt. This is what Dune is all about even with the amazing score, i'm a huge fan of the Dune books since 18 years ago when i was 12 even though i did enjoyed the Dune movie as a kid in the 80's. For anyone who likes the Dune books, i recommend these similar movies: "Avatar", "Nausicaa of the Valley of the WInds (Warriors of the Wind)", "The Dark Crystal", "Fifth Element", "Dark City", "Matrix", "Flash Gordon" and "Stargate".
Weezie, I'm with you. I saw the 1984 and loved it. That's how I came to read the novel, but then realized how horribly the '84 movie butchered the storyline. But I still like it. As much as I like the Toto soundtrack for the '84 movie, this soundtrack is so much more. It's epical and matches the story.
The 1984 movie turned me onto the books, so that movie as bad as it could be sometimes will always have a special place in my heart. Loved the Dune and CoD but didn't like how they made certain characters more important then they were in the books especially Irulan(who they totally changed), otherwise much better then the first movie. So love this music...it totally rocks!!!!
Esta es la mejor banda se sonido original para una miniserie de televion que escuche en mi vida!!! ademas de adorar la saga de Dune (no tanto la miniserie) es impresionante como la musica transmite el sentimiento del relato, IM PRE SIO NAN TE!
Here, in Spain, you can heard it in a TV Show, "Pekin Express". Good election, this music bring to us epic and adventure. It's a good reality but the Film its better ;-)
I never read dune but purchased the soundtrack after loving the Indy 4 trailer. I more or less have listened to it ever since! I love all the themes, especially inama nushif and main title!
Yes, shame his sons works aren't as good as Frank's, especially Dune was a true masterpiece, the ones after were still great but never quite measured up to Dune in my opinion.
Does anyone know what instrument is playing at 6:32? Not the percussion, but the faint wind instrument? It sounds like an oboe, but it is very Eastern sounding. Almost like its from antiquity. It's a prevalent instrument used throughout the Children of Dune soundtrack. I love it, but can't tell what it is. Please let me know!
Sounds like an Armenian Duduk - Givan Gasparan [Don't know about that spelling] is really good - he's one of the best musicians with that instrument. That instrument has been used in a lot of films including the Crow 1 and 2 as well as Gladiator.
@MeadowHouseFilms THANK YOU!! I've been trying to find this out ever since Children of Dune premiered on television, which was 7 years ago! You're the first one to actually answer me =)
@piratebri Yes it is an eastern wind instrument known in the arabian middle eastern countries as "Nay". You may listen to it ans see: watch?v=BclxxII8Ing
the track that starts at 5 really gives the impression of a desert, but what im looking for..the soundtrack which starts in the series when letos going to jacurutu on a sandworm is missing here. can anyone tell me whats that song?
I really, really love the soundtrack of Children of Dune. The soundtrack was what made me want to watch the telemovie which subsequently led to me wanting to read the books. Haha:)
His recent films include the action thriller War starring Jet Li & Jason Statham, Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem which was released by 20th Century Fox on Christmas Day 2007 and the Sylvester Stallone directed Rambo which was released on January 26, 2008, and the upcoming "Dragonball Evolution". He will be composing the musical score for the upcoming action film "Battle: Los Angeles" which is to be released later in 2009 from Columbia Pictures.
Brian Tyler is a composer who has written, arranged, and conducted musical scores for film. His scores include Eagle Eye produced by Steven Spielberg, Fast and Furious, the William Friedkin directed The Hunted, and the 2005 supernatural action film Constantine. He is also signed with Sony Music as a songwriter. He previously scored the films The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, Bug by William Friedkin and the Nicolas Cage starrer Bangkok Dangerous for a 2008 release.
I saw the first movie and liked it enough to read the book(the whole series) which I loved. The mini series is good but I try and see it as seperate from the books. Especially how much more Irulans part was beefed up. In the book she wasn't as important and was not on Pauls side. She conspired with BG regarding Duncan, not her sister.
And now a pair of crappy writers are saying that she wrote Dune and Dune Messiah..(they have demoted Dune and now they claim that their crappy books are the official canon...)
Nothing can ever diminish the greatness that is Dune. As for the "crappy writers", I believe that they have done a good job on finishing the Dune series with Hunters of Dune and Sandworms of Dune. These novels might not be as magnificent as the original Dune, but very few books are. I cannot speak for the other books Brian Herbert has written, but those two are very good in my opinion. By the way this music is awesome.
I think it was an artistic irony, a comment about contrasting strategies with enemies: One enemy was dispatched outright (harkonnen) and the other incorporated into the household (corrino) .
it may seem incorporation is more dangerous than dispatching your enemy, but ironically the opposite proved to be true (possession of Alia by the Baron); because killing people can give you nightmares, prey on your concience and destabilise your personality so permitting revenge beyond the grave.
I agree with you. I have seen both series and read the books, and although the series are fun and well done, the story is much better told in the books. The problem is the time, in the series they have to go too fast because it's so complex, so the people misses a lot of what has made Dune a monument of science fiction.
Yeah, the books are incredible. But the mini-series is really well done and maybe it will make people want to read the books. I read the books first and I loved the mini-series too. But the older movie was not that great.
lendo o livro atualmente e escutando as musicas do filme durante, uma ótima leitura.
