Last year when I was working and travelling in the South West (I'm from the UK) a friend and I hitch hiked from Flagstaff to the Grand Canyon South Rim. The Navajo people that picked us up along the way were some of the warmest and friendliest people I've ever met and I am always grateful to them.

I am Navajo, I'm in the navy and this video makes me proud, to be able to say I am a dine' thank you for making this video, when I'm out on deployment for 7 months it's hard to bare but this has rejuvenated my spirit with the strength of the dine' nation, thanks again and please make more of these films. I loved that song!!! I visited the area this past May, and it was the most breathtaking place I've ever seen. I met some amazing Din'e artists and tried to learn as much as possible about the culture; I was overwhelmed by awe-inspired respect and an admiration for the people and the spectacular land. I wish I shared the culture!! I talk about it all the time and I have a few sandpaintings, Yei figures, and some jewelry, but I wish I'd *grown up* there.
We gather our minds together to send greetings and thanks to all the Animal life in the world. They have many things to teach us as people. We see them near our homes and in the deep forests. We are glad they are still here and we hope that it will always be so.

You don't have to live traditional Navajo lives to be considered Navajo. Chinese people don't live entirely like they did 100 years ago. Navajos are known to adapt to survive. We have come so far and what i think is the most traditional way to express our culture is our language. but even if you don't speak it, think about allowing the next generation to learn it.

Aweful to read all these comments about the racism you guys still have to encounter. As a white I wouldn't dream of making fun of other races, mostly it's just shameful to think what my fellow whites have done in the past and in the present. Though as a Finn my own countrymen have been more in the receiving end, because Finns aren't Indo-European, and thence we have been often seen as of lesser race than the other whites.
I just wanted to say that this is a great video. I enjoyed the pictures and music. It just makes me wish that I could visit my family on the reservation. I am currently going to school for a degree in social work and hopefully plan to return. Some of the pics are places that i ve been to and miss. There is notning like home.

i am 100% full blooded navajo and I lived on the rez for 6 years. i use to live in Tuba City. my mom and my brother and sister had to live off money she made from her jewelry and rugs. most people say that natives are mean and shit but thats cause you havent really talked to one. if you grew up in tuba everyone was so caring and nice to eachother. my mom treated strangers like they were her brothers and sisters. the rez is beautiful to me

I have been on the rez and the people were extremely polite and kind. So much so that one of them even let us go pick peaches in the family orchard and when we tried to pay him he refused to take it. If you saw his house , you would know how much he probably needed the money.

You don't have to live traditional Navajo lives to be considered Navajo. Chinese people don't live entirely like they did 100 years ago. Navajos are known to adapt to survive. We have come so far and what i think is the most traditional way to express our culture is our language. but even if you don't speak it, think about allowing the next generation to learn it.

Aweful to read all these comments about the racism you guys still have to encounter. As a white I wouldn't dream of making fun of other races, mostly it's just shameful to think what my fellow whites have done in the past and in the present. Though as a Finn my own countrymen have been more in the receiving end, because Finns aren't Indo-European, and thence we have been often seen as of lesser race than the other whites.

I just wanted to say that this is a great video. I enjoyed the pictures and music. It just makes me wish that I could visit my family on the reservation. I am currently going to school for a degree in social work and hopefully plan to return. Some of the pics are places that i ve been to and miss. There is notning like home.

I'm not a Christian. I do believe in a higher power. A Christain takes Christ as their higher power. I believe that God is the Creator. I feel sad for you. How empty your litle life must be. I practice my beliefs. Thats why i know what the man is singing and I thanked the person who posted the video. Because hes just as proud as i"m. We know that our home land is Beautiful.

I know what you mean! It's not better with the Canadian natives. Alcohol and drug problems, lack of education and no manners whatsoever. I have seen it with my own eyes and these people live up to their stereotypes. Most natives are lazy, don't work and live off our tax money. They have a nice heritage, yes, but they bacame humanity's garbage! That's my opinion based on facts and it's no wonder nobody likes these people.

you went on our people land okay i dont live there even if i am navajo but i take every moment in when i visit.you think were fithy well we had az until settlers in and took it away from us.and we been nice to you until carson made us walk thousands of miles away form our home and then after weeks he said u could go home so we have to go back again.drunk well go to phoenix and walk around the corner and no surprise you see a drunk.i am the 3rd smartest kid in my class out of 34 students.

My family and I are doing missionary work on the rez here in NM...it is beautiful...I would love to know more about the culture and lives of Navajo's in the past and those that live it still. I would also like to know the name of the song and who sings it...it is beautiful...

The native peoples practiced the principles of take only what you need. For everything taken you must give back. Today this is called sustainable agriculture and recycleing. Or conservation of resources. It only took the so called civilized peoples 150+ years to figure it out and some still haven't figured it out. Peace

The Rez is the hot bed for native culture these days.
Unfortunately these kids today have no pride in being first nations people.
My Rez of Norway House, Manitoba is now populated with Punks and Shitheads that have no understanding of being Red with Pride they dress in hip hop clothing and bling bling and Pitbull's & Boxer's running around unleashed. i am 100% full blooded navajo and I lived on the rez for 6 years. i use to live in Tuba City. my mom and my brother and sister had to live off money she made from her jewelry and rugs. most people say that natives are mean and shit but thats cause you havent really talked to one. if you grew up in tuba everyone was so caring and nice to eachother. my mom treated strangers like they were her brothers and sisters. the rez is beautiful to me

I have been on the rez and the people were extremely polite and kind. So much so that one of them even let us go pick peaches in the family orchard and when we tried to pay him he refused to take it. If you saw his house , you would know how much he probably needed the money.
