Why call yourself "Farmer George" ? Sounds a bit goofy ? Is that just your internet name, or is that what people call you at work ?
Anyways, in a few weeks i am going to sow my Roma tomato's and courgettes and aubergines (eggplants to you yanks) and hopefully by June/July I will be able to call myself Farmer Spyknife !
Haha..."Farmer" George is a nickname my friends gave me because I spent too much time in my garden this year. I guess its better than what they used to call me...:) Good luck with your crop "Farmer" Spyknife! :)
Okay, judging by the stalk and the way the leaves hang, I would say you have a Big Rainbow Staking variety. Basically a large to very large yellow beefsteak, as the fruits ripen, it will go through a phase where they resemble a rainbow - 'greenback' on the shoulders, yellow in the middle, and with red blushed pink on the blossom end. Highly rated in taste tests........ummmm......JUST KIDDING. LOL. I have no idea what variety it is.
Your garden looks incredible. Keep the updates coming.
Heh Heh...you had me goin there for awhile...I was just settin up my ebay account to sell some Big Rainbow 'matos for big bucks!...oh well, guess I'll have to eat 'em myself and guess what variety they really are. Thanks for your nice comments...-George
Your garden is looking really great. Your carrots are turning purple at the top probably because they are exposed to the sun, just as potatoes turn green when exposed.
I would just cut that part off when you harvest and eat the rest. But, next time, if the carrot breaks the surface add more dirt. Hope this helps. happy gardening.
Thanks Angi! Good call! I think I remember someone here on youtube advising the same thing about red beets too. I'll remember that the next time I plant carrots...and also to thin them out early! This is my first year planting them and I realized that if I plant carrots too close together and leave them, there is not enough room between them to grow nice and big. I appreciate the tip! -George
Glad I could help :). Corn looks great. I wasn't bold enough to try that this year. I'm like you, still waiting on my tomatoes to turn red. I'm surprised they have taken this long. Lots green though.
That tomato plants looks like a German Queen Beefsteak............just kidding I have no idea. I think you should give a prize to whomever could guess what type that 1 tomato plant is. I can't even image the talent one would have to posses to guess it right.
OK Jason...good idea! One prize tomato to the person who guesses what kind of tomato plant I've got lurking between the five beefsteak plants and the one lemon boy tomato plant! Hah hah!...thanks about the corn...I'll let you know how it goes. I'm sure your tomatoes will turn red soon...then you'll be having tomato sandwiches for breakfast, lunch and dinner! :) -George

Everyone's got a better garden than mine! Damn I'm so jealous of you Americans with your fine weather for growing fruits and vegetation.
We here in London are not so fortunate.
P.s Over here we don't call them "zuchinni's" we call them "courgettes"(sounds better i think ! )
