Tarantino sat down with the writers and discussed the storyline with them in detial, then they wrote it. That's why it has Tarantino's trademark sadism, but the script of a CSI episode. It's my favourite CSI episode, but I am now terrified of the idea of being buried alive!!

I believe he wrote the episode, or atleast helped in writing it. I am fairly sure though that Grave Danger was a Quentin Tarantino brain-child from the get go.
