  • I have this surgery coming up next week any advice?

  • I just got one today, I felt it in my mouth about three hours ago. So i got on google and started to do research on what it was. now im totaly freaked out, I hope it goes away :(

  • Also I shud mention it happened after I bit my lip I am almost certain

  • I've had one for like 3 weeks now, what happens if I just leave it there? It's anoyying but no dosh D:

  • How much would the surgery cost?

  • unless....i have too...it is smaller and not hurt , i don;t know what is:/ appears for a few days and disappears and again , it takes half a year ,You also have to like me? please help me ;/

  • i have one on my lower lip but it only appeared since i got braces otherwise iv never had on before...

  • @lupe12345678

It didn't hurt after that well it did but not enough to complain about.

  • We are going to make one of this surgically... i am so nervous :S

I am an assistant of a dentist :3

  • i have removed mucocele by surgically.... but my stitches cut down, and pus formed on that place..... what can i do now? plz help me.... it paining also

  • I have this problem

  • Getting mine of today. Only thing I'm freaked about is that damn needle!!! And if it comes back again!

  • Wtf!!!!

  • i wounder how much money the tooth fairly will give me if i leave mucocele under my pillow.

  • Well done.

  • i had the surgery about 2 months ago and now it came back. the surgery itself doesn't hurt...the pain comes during the healing period when the anesthesia wears off

  • The alum treatment worked very effectively for me. Just five consecutive days of applying alum and the mucocele vanished. It had been bothering me on a 10-day cycle for several months. It was tricky at first getting the alum to stick as it was a dry microcrystaline powder. I slightly dampened it by adding 1 drop of water to a 1/2 teaspoon of alum. Leave it on top of the mucocele for 15 minutes. No pain. Rinse with Listerine. I am not worried about putting a bit of food-grade alum in my mouth.

  • just had mine finished. but mine was cut open by a laser instead of a knife. wasn't rly pain.

  • @SweepingBlues how much was the operation?

  • @ojaya15966 it was around SGD 300 (include post op. items such as mouth rinse, painkillers and gauze)

went for the laser one (does not need stitches)

  • SHIIIITITTTT cRAPOLA!!

  • oh fk. having this in 10 days

  • I'm beyond scared. I'm getting this done tomorrow.

  • My daughter had this surgery when she was 1 year old...now she's 2 1/2 and mucocele free :)

  • To get my mucocele removed, I first went to my regular GP. But it grew back so I got it cut out twice by a Oral Surgeon. So far I've had 6 injections and 9 siches. It has grown back again. I researched the mucocele and apparently, if you leave it for too long, it may leave a permanent bump. Dont let this happen to you. Gurgle warm saltey water mixture six times a day and see a surgeon to get it removed. GOOD LUCK

  • I just got my mucocele removed and the shot probably hurts the most.. i didn't feel any pains after the anesthesia but one of my sitches got stuck to my uper lip and it slowly came undone now its off, and im worried if i should talk to a doctor.. altought i don't want to cause i scarred of more shots... and more pain..

  • @BabyyJesus Don't worry, ive had a mucocele cut out of my tongue three times and all nine of my stitches fell out like that. Beleive me, you're very lucky

  • @Dom71111 AWHH man that sucks... :/

i got mine removed and its all healed now.. it healed up PERFECTLY according to my doctor. and it looks really good actually. :D

  • i always shiver every time i see needles gah!

  • @dragonqueen123321 the needles? what about the knife cutting into the lip?

  • were do you go to get this removed. I went to a doctor and she didn't have a fucking clue even after I told them what it is. Even the doctor when I went in for a physical for a job knew what it was. he just told me it will dissolve. which it hasn't.

  • I've read here on the internet that in some cases, after they've had their surgery, the mucocele came back.

I just want to know if it's true that it has a tendency to come back after the surgery.

coz i have one and im planning to undergo with this surgery.

Pls answer my question, I'm really freaked out with my mucocele.

thank you in advanced, I would really appreciate it!

  • @gjulkkkknnn I was remove mucocle under my tongue.after two week,it's came back.

I have to surgery again.( You can search on internet, why it's comeback.I don't know how to say. )

    Sorry,my language is not good.

  • @AMNHU it's ok, i understand it..

thats the reason why somehow I hesitate to undergo surgery because of its tendency to come back..

mine is not that big, when I dont really disturb it with my tongue nor bite it, it doesnt grow that big so Im planning not to undergo surgery yet, anyways its not that harmful to our health, right?

mine is on my lower lip and for now it doesnt really affect how i speak, its just that im so conscious about it.

thanks for bothering to reply.. :)

  • Okay so I have a mucocele about a quarter of that size and I was wondering if applying a baking soda paste to it would help reduce that size or make it go away. Thanks

  • THIS IS SICK...I CANT LOOK AWAY!

  • o.k.!! i have a mucocele and i keep poppin it and wen i do all the saliva rushes out.....if u keep poppin the bubble inside it keeps it reallyyyyy small!! all u have to do is poke it w/ a needle a couple times in the same spot (it doesnt hurt at all, its likee...numb) and the pop the bubble just pinch it really hard, this doesnt hurt either, and then after ur done popping it use alum! the skin will crust and fall off then no morreeee mucocelee!!

  • are you a hundred percent positive of this!?

  • Mines is "ON" my LIP!!! WHAT do i do?????? it keeps coming back

  • i just got my mucocele removed earlier this afternoon. i never been so relieved. its been bothering me for the past month- i regret not doin it earlier. but i honestly i was hopin it was going to go down by itself - but it didnt. so dont wait. get the surgery - and it does take about 10 minutes to remove and get sutured up =D didnt hurt at all only thing now is the incision site is sore cant smile completely yet or it pulls the stitches haha =P

  • Does the operation hurt? and how long would it take to heal? because i've had one for a couple of months and i think i have one..

  • can you smoke after the operation? I mean the first hours/days

  • Buddhisgangstamonk i did the same thing and it went away by itself

  • Very good and professional video. I think I have one so I will see a oral surgeon about it.

  • oh my gosh!! i have one and i'm so afraid to get a mini oral surgery, even if you won't feel it i'm still scared. (i'm such a scaredy cat)

  • I'd had the operation a couple of days ago. After the anesthesia effect pass: IT HURTS LIKE FUCK.

  • Comment removed

  • actually i think ive had it for more than 2 months

  • I have what feeles like a little little ball inside of my lower lip ive had it for 2 months and it hasnt grown or shrink its nowhere near noticeable i have to push my tongue against it i can also move it around a little bit but i just dont think its suppose to be there

  • One month ago I had a small mucocele excised from my inside cheek just past and below the corner of my mouth. Even though it was small they used three stitches which dissolved in five days. Now, a month later I can still feel a firm lump where the incision and stitches were. Is this from scar tissue and how long before it goes away?

  • great..it looks like a small ball of jelly..ive never heard of a mucocele..

    very interesting..

  • what happenes if it burst and it becomes smaller

  • I know this may sound wrong and dangerous, but I wanna try doing this surgery on myself.

  • what would happen if you poked it with a needle?

  • Is surgery absolutely necessary? I think I have a mucocele too =( for about a week now. What will happen if I just leave it alone for a long time?

  • nice case. this is an excellent video with textbook technique. good job getting the attached minor salivary gland and not puncturing the sac while dissecting it out.

  • disgusting!

  • o damn, so i bit my lips hard a couple time accidently while chewing gum, and i bit it at the same spot over and over, and now it dont go away, do i have mucoele too?

  • march 2010, i got one- didnt go to doctors till may/june. i then went to the hospital, they looked over it and made an appointment for me to get it removed in september. i had the operation. the anaesthesia hurt a bit. but that was the only pain i felt. i was so tense, i made myself ill and went really pale as a sheet. a week or so later, it returned. & i'm far too scared to have the surgical removal again. makes me feel ill thinking about it.

  • @SammiJoBABEY ouchhhhh that would suck, thats what im scarred of.

  • EWWWW DISCUSTING!! NO OFFENSE TO THA PERSON, OPERATIONS GROSS ME OUT&& MAKE ME WEAK!! /=

  • Fml ); I've had one for 3 months now and I keep popping it and it just won't go away . I'm too scared to do surgery , just gonna leave it there

  • @marcussowj If you don't it'll still there for life. :s

  • If my mucocele is located close to my gums on my top row set of teeth, would it be hard to remove? I know I need to remove it because it is re-occuring, but will it be more difficult to remove than it would be if it was located on the bottom lip? thanks for your time.

  • @theholagurrl90210,

Mucoceles for some reason predominantly occur on the lower lip. I have never removed one from the upper lip, so I cannot advice on that.

  • Oh no. I think I have a mucocele. It started almost 3 weeks ago, goes away leaving just a white raised dot, then comes back. I started rinsing my mouth a with salt water and it helped, but then it came back. For the last two days I've been rinsing my mouth with Maalox and Dyphenhydramine, and I haven't seen results yet. I don't want a surgery! I'm a poor and uninsured grad student! =/ I wonder how much this minimal surgery is here in United States?

  • @deyita623,

None of those treatments will help. Sometimes they burst and go away, but most of the time, they do not and does end up needing surgery. I cannot comment on the cost of surgery. They cheapest place to get this done in the US is generally speaking Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery teaching hospitals or dental schools.

  • hello plp i just got one of this mococele its been a month and i hate it..how do you get this things????one day i was normal and the next day i had it on my bottom lip...plz help also how much is the procedure???i have dental insurance but about how much is it im from hayward caifornia

  • OMG i'm so scared...

  • what local anesthesia was used there? there is not so much bleeding as usual , did they use adrenalin? Ty

  • @LeonoSalomo,

Yes 12.5 Microgram/ml or 1:80000 (European solution). The most common epi content is 1:100000.

  • @ANattestad Thanks

  • I had this done a while ago, and watching this almost made me sick!! But the prescription drugs they gave me made everything ok!

  • I just got mine done today. the only difference it that this person got cut open not even a half inch. mine was smaller and i got cut open at least 1 1/2 inches....and i got like 7 stiches.... and i bled ALOt. i meen ALOT ALOT.....

  • Comment removed

  • I can not believe as I'm going to do the same

I hope it does not hurt. and I'll be anesthetized

    :-(

  • @un4m3d4 I got mine exactly after a trauma to the lip in a basketball match :O

  • i had this done a few weeks ago. heres a few things:

    1. surgery doesnt hurt. i wasn't even put to sleep..they used a local anesthesia

    2. it does swell/hurt for a couple days. (only 3 or 4 days if you keep ice on it, rinse with saltwater every few hours, and sleep more upright than usual) so try and get the surgery on a friday and you may be good for school monday :)

    3. keep pressure.

    4. I have braces, so i had to wear wax on them because it kept getting caught on the cut

  • thank you very much for the upload. do have any other oral surgery/ dental uploads?

  • i just got mine removed yesturday! :O IT HURTS

  • does it hurt after the operation? in terms of next day? how long does it take to heal?

  • thats fuckiin disgusting bro.

  • Wow. i just got the referrel from my physician today. After seeing this vid I'm a bit iffy now. Are there any after effects i should know about? Does the incision leave a scar? Just a couple questions if anyone can answer.

  • i just got mine done .. if you don't like seeing blood, KEEP YOUR EYES CLOSED.

  • I'm getting mine done in 3 hours, i'll let everyone know how it goes and take before and after shots, like this if you want to see it and i'll send it to you

  • Mine is about half the size of this person's mucocele, but I'm scheduled to get it removed in April. I wasn't scared initially, but after seeing this video, I'm definitely afraid now! How was the healing process? Did it take long to heal? Did the mucocele ever return? And I don't know about you, but when I get numbed, I still feel some pain during operations. SOMEONE HELP ME ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS!

Thanks for the upload though. (:

  • @Mizutoki808 you don't feel a thing when you get it done ..I was like "are you sure I won't feel anything" ..and he goes "do you feel this".. and he sliced it right there and then, didn't feel anything!.. If you're not a big fan of blood, keep your eyes closed, I bled a lot. It's been about 3 days now since I've had it removed. The first day was fine, the next morning I woke up with a HUGE lip and threw up. Now it's getting better and the swelling is going down. Don't be nervous.

  • @MsPannCakes thank you so much(: my mucocele is sooo weird. it used to be huge and then gets small, and then gets huge again and then shrinks again. right now, my mucocele is nearly flat (if it wasn't for the white skin, i don't think anyone would know i have one). and don't ask me how i know, but i don't think it will get much bigger. i just want to get mine removed already :( i also don't want my lip to get swollen sooooo i wish there were ways to getting it removed without surgery. but thnx!!

  • @Mizutoki808 mine did the same thing, got bigger and smaller, I had it for over a year !! ..it just gets annoying, I was very self conscious about it,..it's a good relief to have it out, you just have to deal with the pain afterwards. but I'm sure it'll be worth it and in the end you'll be glad you did it : ) glad I helped dear, message me and let me know how it goes!

  • just got mine out. icing it now

  • im really scared.. i think im gonna hve mine removed.. what does it feel like during the surgery? does it hurt? pls thanksss

  • @RifSamah

You will have local anesthesia which hurts a little, but after that you will be fine.

  • @RifSamah i just had it done today all they do is put numbing cream on your nerves and the give you a shot then all they do it cut it off and stitch it up like on the vid. but after the numbing haves worn out it feels sore and it gets more swollen

  • fuck dude how do u spell this word?

  • i have had mine over a year! it comes and goes. how much does this surgery cost? more or less.

  • @classicfanatics

It varies greatly, but expect something between $300 and $1000.

    Dr. N.

  • @classicfanatics

i had mine for a year too! it was like $50 for me

  • I got mine removed a few weeks ago, and I'm 14. I stayed awake the entire time and I didn't feel a thingggg. If you're getting this surgery, you should not be worried at all, I was able to go to all my events less than an hour after my surgery! :)

  • @lissalovesmishka Is it really painless?? Because tomorrow i'm gonna get mine removed and i'm felling nervous!!!BTW i'm 14 too! :)

  • @deeps2431 The ONLY thing that hurts is the shot at the beginning on your lip, which is just a tiny pinch and is no different than any other shot. And it only hurts for not more than a second. (: Then the rest you don't feel AT ALL!!! Don't worry about it, it's over in less than 10 minutes! Good luckkk!

  • @lissalovesmishka that helped alot. because that vid definitely made me nervous

  • i got mine taken out in june and part of my lip is still completly dead to the touch

  • @BrandoEFC

The surgery must be damaged a branch of the nerve that supplies the area. It is not an uncommon occurrence since these nerves are very small and run very superficial in the lip. The risk is less the closer the mucocele is to the midline.

Most patients get used to it and after a while, it does not bother them anymore

  • Is it wrong that I think this is strangely satisfying? lol

  • OH SHIT! i'm getting mine done in 2 weeks

  • Mine went away on its own. I just let it be.

  • @mogotecoyote How long does it go away ?? :O

  • @theonlyerina Mine took about three months to go away. It just dissolved back into my lip. I did some research and it's better to leave it alone. The risks of surgery are too great for this little bump. Hope this helps you!

  • @mogotecoyote Ohh. :D Okay. Thanks for the advice! x

  • i got this surgery done and i now have no feeling in my whole lower lip...

  • @cremepuff21,

    How long ago was surgery?

  • Ok so how long exactly will it take to heal completely? i mean for the stitches to be removed and the swelling to go away? because i have one on my upper lip and its been pissing me off, I've had it for a while now and can't wait to have it removed.

  • @qwertj1

It will take 5-10 days to be completely healed and swelling gone.

  • how long will it take for surgery to heal?

  • @KH13JPLAZMA

    About 4-5 days

  • Fuck me i have one of these in my mouth, ugh- this is going to suck.

  • wtf that is soooo weird

  • JUST got this done 2 days ago! i can't believe they did THAT to me lol

  • I'm from Brazil, I went to a dentist and he said that my fibroid was a clinically but then I opted to do surgery in a doctor's head and neck, but returned three weeks to show a trans bubble burst, the two appeared also broke the big three that I burst but returned the same thing should be mucocele. with this blank look when I burst out a kind of gooey liquid, from first surgery also burst and left the same thing I think relapsed ajundaaa

  • i had this done, crap im glad they covered my eyes i would have freaked out if i had seen that, but seriously, if you have one it doesnt hurt at all, thanks to the deadening

  • that poor person must've been so uncomfortable, that thing was huge.

  • well shitm i hope i never have to get this done that shit looks nasty

  • do dentist have traing in examining these?

  • @gooman989898

General dentists should be able to examine and diagnose (determine the likely disease) these lesions. They are however not uniformly trained on removing them. Having said that, some general dentist acquire the skills to handle surgery on soft tissue lesions such as this and get good at it. It depends on the country and the specifics of training, so expect great variation.

  • @gooman989898 Sometimes it depends where you go mine was a plastic Sergent

  • he had an egg sack in his lip... damn lol.. thank you doctor.. seriously all doctors get my respect yall are our medical advisers as well as life protectors in some cases

  • @un4m3d4

I did not make and post this video to encourage self experimentation. I am happy for you that you were successful in doing this. One of the issues with this lesion is that the damaged feeding salivary glands should be removed also to minimize the risk of it returning. I hope for you that you will not have it come back. I would encourage others with this lesion to refrain from a similar approach. My only "share" in this is the health and safety of patients.

  • @ANattestad Hey how did this work for you?? Has the mucocele returned or no??

  • i found one in my mouth shiiit this is bull shit loool why oh why cant they go away loool with out surgical removal lol oh well bring on the pain haha

  • I'd remove my mucocele myself if I didn't have to slit open my lip and sew it shut after. I mean, just over the counter mouth-numbing stuff (Orajel) would suffice for the pain, but jesus that little cyst is stubborn.

Keep biting into my lip because of it.

  • Fuck, I have one of these right now...

  • that needle looks like it stings like a bitch.

gotta have this done in a couple of months and if im quite honest,

    i'm so scared :|

  • Comment removed

  • @croatianforlife,

Don't worry. You do need one injection that will sting a little, but after that there is no pain associated with the procedure. It can be done with sedation, but that is rarely necessary.

  • thumbs up if you only watched this because you have or think you have one

  • Are you awake when you have this done or do they knock you out?

  • I have one, I want that little fucked to be removed. I fucking hate it hahaa. I pop it every morning. Stupid thing. It's not this big or anything, but i still hate knowing it's there.

  • I got one from accidently bitting my lip repeatedly in the same spot a few days ago, and this morning i just noticed I have one in my mouth. But I hope it goes away on its own...Im not afraid of needles but I rather not have to get the surgery.

  • AMy'll do this week, that shit right in the game for Brazil World Cup but I go but Brazil Brazil

  • que ascooooooooooooooo

  • Comment removed

  • I just had a mucocele removed 6 days ago. Mine was a bit larger than this persons and my doctor cut around it like a football shape. It required 5 stiches to close the wound. It took about 10-15 minutes and the most painful part was the initial anethesia injection. My lip has since healed surprisngly fast. 6 days later and most of the swelling is gone and there is no pain.

  • Also wanted to let you all know, due to my dental coverage sucking pretty bad, it is costing me $700. But you can get on a payment plan so its like $60 a month over a year. That covers the locals, the dr fees, and the biopsy. They prescribed vicoden and penicillian. Together they cost me $4 at giant eagle pharmacy. As a reference my mucocele was about the same size, maybe slightly larger than this kids and I ended up with 3 stitches.

  • Guys I just had a mucocele surgically removed this afternoon, 6/12/10. I had a bad 'cele I got from biting my lip really bad about a year ago. So I got a consult with my DMD and then my Oral surgeon removed it. The only pain is the novacain, but they numb you orally first so you dont even feel it. Mine was done with a scalpel. You will not feel anything, Took 35-40 min. Its now 3 hours after, little pain but they prescribed vicodin, JIC. I will update tomorrow, but guys this is a painless fix.

  • can this be inherited? My older sister had one when she was 18 years of age. I'm 19 and now i have a mucocele. Thankfully, it's a lot smaller than the patient in the video. I'm always temped to pop it, and i did(bad idea). Now i'm waiting on my appointment. Watching this gave my goosebumps!

  • my dog bite my lip nd i have one .... i hate it soooo much

  • this is the most painful thing ever. I had my operation yesterday - there was me thinking it would take 5mins like this video. How wrong I was! It took over an hour! :O obviously i couldn't feel anything at all when they were doing it but this morning....is a completely different story. i had 7 stitches, my lip's twice the size and i can't even drink or eat properly. I thought i'd share my experience because the video makes it look so painless and simple.

  • @falafelhotdog

This is unusual. Please share your experience after a few more days as the day after any surgery is never a pleasure.

  • Comment removed

  • @ANattestad

It's 3 days after the operation and although the swelling has gone down slightly I am still in quite a bit of pain. 2 of the stitches came out and my lip is very bruised. Laughing is the worst part! I can't laugh at all without my lip feeling like it's being ripper apart...and I laugh a lot!

  • @falafelhotdog my surgery only took like two minutes. my doc just snipped it off after numbing me. he did it right then and there; i didn't even have to make an appointment for surgery. after snipping off the mucocele, he burned the wound so i didn't get any stiching. the mucocele grew back after a few days though... but a daily ritual of rinsing my mouth w/salt water made it go away!

  • @unknown333SURE Mine must've been quite big then. I probably didn't realise the size because it'd been there for 2-3months and I'd got used to it. People were always shocked though if I showed it to them! It took about two weeks to heal fully, and 1 month on I still can't feel my lip properly. There's numbess all the way from the top of my chin to my bottom lip and the scar inside is quite big. Ahh well, it serves me right for chewing my lip in the first place!!

  • the needle part hurts the most lol. thats mostly it... u cant feel a thing

  • can you please tell me if any part of this surgey hurt at all?? and how much was the surgery?

  • @KH13JPLAZMA

The local anesthesia will be a little painful, but only for a few second and after that there is no pain. The surgery fee varies greatly. This particular procedure was done in a dental school for free in Denmark. In the US you cannot get it for free, but dental school are the lease expensive. Expect anywhere from $50 and up to $500.

  • THUMB UP. This is my case of mucocele and how it went away. I had this for about 4 months. For the first 2 months this thing would become larger, smaller, etc. The next month this remained a bit large, then another period of time smaller. none of the home remedies i tried really worked. Please just follow these two simple things. Don't lick it with your tonque. After eating always try to refresh your mouth. I'm glad i went through this as i hope more people will be helped.

  • OMfg, I heard they can spontaneously disappear and I have one, I think. I hope it does, I have prom in fkn 7 days. I'm so pissed.

  • how do you get this?

  • @datseb997 by biting your lip or getting other kind of cut.

  • i had one. this is what they did to me. im changed, FOREVER. ha

but foreals yo. these stitches are mad gay.

  • 1 word.

    Ouch.

  • thanks for posting this video!!

  • Great video. Very informative. Many thanks.

  • I think I have one :/

  • I had one of these removed while having my wisdom teeth removed, my mouth hurt for like a week or two. At least I was knocked out....

  • My Friend Had This Before She Got It Removed It Was Like Some Years Ago I Dun Remember

  • I have one of these, it was getting smaller earlier today, but I think I accidently bit it and now it's bigger than ever. Should I go see a doctor or will it disappear by itself (since it was getting smaller at one point)

  • @noodlescratcher

It probably will keep going up and down in size. If it bother you, you should have it removed.

  • i have something like that but its on the outside of my lip. i ripped the skin on my lip and then the next day theres a huge bump. any remedies?

  • @13nileyrocks,

It is unusual for this to occur on the skin. It is usually only on the mucosa. If you had trauma to the skin of the lip, a swelling could be an infection. You should have it checked by a professional.

  • FUCK IN HELL

  • If u get this thing do u have to get a surgery or can u use medicine or somthing

  • no medicine just surgery. better get some motrin afterwards.

  • I had mine removed yesterday. The doctor yanked it off with a string.. they gave me stitches that dissolve. It was ok during the procedure.. but a
