He just totally spent about 100 times longer than it would take to beat the game the normal way because he just clearly didn't have enough skill to beat it normally.
Tool assisted. He tried once, saved the best and fastest time, tried again, and eventually, if he got it perfect, he left it and then moved on. Thousands of save states.
I believe there's an invisible hit detection ring on the ground in front of Mumbo. So if you talon trot jump from the door to the note and stay behind that ring before jumping back out, he'll stay asleep.
I did and didn't like it. Sold my N64 and all its games for a shiny new PS2, GTA3, FFX and FFVII (never had a PS1, wanted to see what all the fuss was about) and a few other games. best investment I ever made.
I had both, and the N64 was far better. It had SO many amazing games, BK being one of my favorites. The PS had a few great games... But nothing like the LoZ series, Mario 64, etc. I didn't get a PS2, and the only game I really regret missing out on is FFVII.
1) TAS means that it's played at slow speeds (usually frame-by-frame) using save states and re-recordings to fix any mistakes, not that it exploits glitches not possible in real time. TASes sometimes do, but it's not the definition of TAS, and the only reason they're not doable in real time is that they require very precise input.
2) There is no "cartridge version". The ROM is an exact copy of the game data.
In short, the only thing edited in a TAS is the input the game recieves.
Now this isnt much and probably not even worth the hassle but you can get the Orange tiles Jiggy and Conga's Jiggy to overlap so Banjo only does the dance for 1 Jiggy but gets them both, cutting out about 3.5 seconds. Ive only done this once on the cartridge since the game came out
Yeah, Sami actually gave this a shot before, but it requires quite a bit of manipulation if I recall correctly; you have to hit Conga from the right angle with the egg to get it done, too.
he missed a mumbo token back where the talon trot was learned...5 in the world and only came out with 4

Whoa!!! So, does this mean that a superhuman with perfect timing doesnt need the ant to reach those 2 jiggies? Or it's all about glitch abusing?
LordTyrano1988 2 years ago
Don't need to be a superhuman per se, but a little practice helps. In other words, yes.

Yeah, i'm know what a TAS is, but thanks. I'm just wondering if someone with lots of patience and practice could do this, maybe.

Press B while holding L and R. Unfortunately, you can't skip Bottles' next bit of text, so hold A to speed it up.

I can get everything in this game in about five hours. I played the shit of it, though. Hell, maybe I'll try for four soon.
I love Banjo Kazooie. Even after ten and a half years, it's still one of the best games, ever.

This game was the reason i turned in my 64 for a PS2. Too many kiddie games come from Nintendo anymore!

GTA sucks, but I respect your taste in FF.
The N64 had many fun games. What, because its not bloody-gorey, it sucks?

I had a N64 instead a PS1. And I don't regret it. I'd never have traded it for the other one and I'm happy I didn't.

it's a shame when people don't appreciate games for what they are, instead they judge them based on the audience they think plays it.
Oh and when this game came out, I was about 10 years old and i'm sure you probably were as well (if not younger).
