  • This is around 55 yards! Stupid announcers must be out of work for being off by 20 yards.

  • Those BYU uniforms are fucking cool!. They need to bring those back,

  • @pizzaisyummy86 yah they do!!

  • Man the Gary Crowton era at BYU sucked.

  • Who is the idiot who estimated 70 yards? I was expecting the ball to go 7 yards deep into the end zone considering it was thrown from the 37. It dropped at about the 2 yard line. Dude, thats 9 yards short.

  • I used to win bets by doing that from my knees in college!

  • where's that TD pass?

  • Beck is not starting, Rex Grossman is the all-american gunslinger

  • @jonny5dicky rex sucks dick

  • lol at all the clueless girls screaming when the ball reaches the endzone

  • at the Auburn vs. Georgia game this year i watched Cam Newton throw one atleast 65 yards in warm ups. But yea Beck has an arm no doubt.

  • Mike shanahan thinks this kid is going to replace mcnabb :/

  • @pg86 Mcnabb is done with the Redskins!! I would rather see Beck be the starter than Mcnabb or Rex!! Good thing we didnt draft a QB this draft I think Beck would do a better job than any of this years QBs on the draft plus eventhough he was a third string QB he already knows the playbook for Shannys offense!!

  • @ELCAMALEON99 I strongly I agree I am watching his highlights now seeing the way hes playing tells this time for him is a possibility.

  • @janyaoha83 Yeah Im just saying maybe we should just give this guy a shot we have nothing to lose! Im from new mexico and BYU is in our conference the Mountain West and I saw him play in college sure it wasnt against top college teams but still this guy had an arm and was very accurate!!! I just think he would do a good job if given another shot at starter!!!

  • not 70 yards, he threw it from his own 36 to the opposite 1 yard line so its a 63 yard throw, maybe 61 or 62, if you want to see a real 70 yard throw look up "longest hail mary ever"

  • close game

  • that was 60 yards not 70

  • well it was the end of the half might as well try something

  • he is second string for Redskins

  • The throw was pretty much right on the money from 70 yards aswell, would have hit the WR right in stride if the defender didn't bat it down

  • he threw the ball from the 37 to the 2 yard line; that is 61 yards; where in the heck are you getting 70? not that impressive

  • Beck was a 2nd round draft pick, Beck is currently 3rd string QB for the Washington Redskins behind Mcnabb and rex grossman

  • I can throw sixty-gajillion yards without using my arms!!!!

  • And that's when you realize they were already down 41-13..... And it was only halftime...

  • its clearly more like 61 yards

  • @AdamKramerNY its more like 70-75. although he releases the ball at the 36 yard line, I think you're forgetting that he throwing cross the field. From the right hash marks to the sideline, so thats like an added 10 yards. unless you are being sarcastic, then well, thats just funny.

  • @freshtadef9 That's about a 66 - 67 yarder. I used the pythagorean theorem because the hash is about 19 yards from sideline =P

  • Damn, that was a nice long throw, I must admit...but what's up with throwing it into near quadruple coverage??

  • ahahahaha, anyone see the news at the bottom of the screen?

"Jaguars punter Chris Hanson will miss 4-6 weeks after gashing his leg with an axe"

    WHAT THEEEEE

  • i can throw it 50 yards on my knees.

  • Most of all you guys are full of shit i will never believe you can throw tht far till you show me with proof some high school quartbacks cant even throw 50 yrs(with pads n helmet) people like Elkridgehurrican should be shot at birth Im14 and a Qb For HS freshmen team Longest throw i can make without pads is like 47-51. (with pads and helmet is about 41-46 but it doesnt matter about how far you can throw it, Rlly important Skillz to becoming a GreatQB Leadership,Footwork,Accrucy,Mechanics

  • Somtimes 50 plus

  • I'm 11 I can throw 40-50 yards I'm qb for my team

  • it was acctually 62 yards...

  • Well I can throw it over them mountains and im 19

  • im 16 and i can throw 40 yds

  • i like how he says "i got it at 70 yards" then he says he threw it from the 35-40 hahah thats 65-60 yards. if it hit in the endzone.

  • i like how he says "i got it at 70 yards" then he says he threw it from the 35-40 hahah thats 65-60 yards.

  • check my vid i throw a legit 65 yarder....

  • 70? no

  • It hit somebodys hands that were put up in the air at about 63. I think estimating it would have went 70 untouched is fair. Yall are a bunch of idiots

  • um........byu was losing to colorado state 41-13 by halftime!

  • who cares if it wasnt 70 yards... it was still past 60 and thats hella impressive... you guys think you can beat that... what ever

  • my old coaceh coached this guy in high scholl i think

  • Great Throw

  • The title of this video should really be "John Beck throws a 63.5 yard pass."

  • That's 65, -_-

  • Lol, wow.. A quarterback isnt a person that can throw far, a good one is one with accuracy and range.

  • Lucky to have arm like that I can get a high school balll about 60 at the most 60 usually on good days but only 50 accurately and an nfl or ncaa ball like 45-50 but only 40 accurately

  • @ifoundsage What is this, monkey island? Not funny, hardly insulting.

  • u guys are all stupid..its a video of a player whos a "3rd string" throwing the ball..he couldve thrown it farther u dont know that..put some jamarcus russel videos up..one of the worst nfl quarterbacks of all-time and brady quinns receivers were worse and he has a better carrer than russel so stfu...spedo i like how u care enough to comment on it...whos ur favorite quarterback? jason cambell?

  • who cares how far he can throw it why are they throwing a bomb up 41-13 before half?

  • haha on the bottomline at the end it talks of how chris hanson the punter was out 6 weeks for cutting his legs with an ax

  • Lets do the math here...He throws it from his own 37 and it lands at the 3. Hmmmm.

  • @steveb234 60?

  • Wow...what a meaningless video. I've never seen idiots get as excited over an incomplete pass. JaMarcus Russell can throw it even further than Beck did and he sucks too.

  • -.- can u throw it 70 yards when u were in college? can u even throw it 20 yards? no? how bout 5? yeah...so stfu troll

  • @KANDAM808 When I was in college, I learned something called "grammar". You might want to check into it, shit for brains.

  • @ifoundsage

How did you make it to college without proper schooling? You poor, poor soul.

  • lol at the guy saying he should be an nfl starter....just because u have a strong arm doesnt mean u can be a qb, u need accuracy, decision making, footwork, physical and mental toughness, the will to be great. trusting ur teammates, being a leader and much more

  • hes the third stringer for Baltimore now

  • exactly wat u said everything jamarcus russel doesnt have, strong arm... thats it

  • @funkster3019 See Jamarcus Russell

  • @funkster3019 something you obviously don't have

  • @8323173 wtf is ur problem kid, trying to start shit thinking ur tough ?

  • @funkster3019 look at how accurate it was. the ball was going right into his hands..the defender just got in the way.

  • @funkster3019 Was that not accurate? was that not good decision making? was that not avaiding the rush, yes you need all of those things But Arm Strength is definately a HUGE part of a QB game and if you say otherwise you don't know much about football.

  • @funkster3019 Hey look where he is at now! haha starting for the Redskins. Nice analysis for a rookie QB... You judgemental idiot.

  • @93FerrariFreak HAHAH are you braindead? i NEVER said he was bad, im talking about in general you fucking internet warrior

  • @funkster3019 LOL @ this comment a year later

  • It was about 64yds downfield, but also about 20yds towards the sideline. So it's about a 67yd throw.

  • Actually it was 62 yards. In 2002 during NFL QB Challenge Jeff Garcia and Tom Brady on the long throw both launched it 65 yards. Peyton Manning launched it 67 yards and one time warren moon and bret favre launched it 72 yards.

  • nice

  • im a freshman in highschool for a class c team, and i can throw 45. now if only i could get it to land where i wanted it to after i threw it the 45. haha.

  • not 70 yards

  • Yes it was. You not only have to consider the distance it traveled downfield but also how much the ball goes to the right.

  • 66 yards

  • I cant believe he isn't a starter in the NFL

  • 3rd stringer for us

  • It was actually about 66-67 where the ball touched as it went past the goal line.

  • I'm glad BYU went back to the classic uniform look.

  • looked more like 60-65 at best to me. Thats average for any NFL QB.

  • stronger arms som can barley throw 50

  • What?

  • 65 yards, not 70.

  • 65 yards is where the ball was touched. it was touched so it impaired its distance. the ball would have gone 70+ yards had no one touched it.

  • USC > BYU

  • yay..and my miami dolphins got him..and chad pennington..and chad henne..were stacked

  • wow. that was awesome

  • It didn't even look like he threw it as hard as he could.

  • lets do the math the ball is at the their 44 yard line and he threw into the in zone

he threw at the 36 it looks like

so it was really like at 64 maybe 65 yard throw

  • but it was also at an angle, not straight on, so about 5 yards should be added to it

  • i guess you could make that argument

spoken like a true byu fan

    sticking up of you qb

to bad hes the backup in miami

maybe he might get a shot elsewhere

p.s of those of you who want to see real arm strength check out jamarcus russell and matthew stafford formerly of my team uga

  • yeah, so far he's not looking too great.

and yeah, Stafford is probably the best QB coming into this draft

  • Matthew Stafford is the most overrated player in this draft. He had a 59% completion rate against bowl teams. He and Georgia are incredibly overrated. All that Stafford has is a very strong arm, but he has no idea what to do with it.

  • i respect your opinion by i completely disagree

    first georgia was not overrated

georgia was plagued by injuries including the oline their starting left tackle was out the whole year and the defense was even worse trust me if we were healthy you would have seen a better team

    stafford played in the sec

the best football conference with the best defenses and held his own

like it or not hes a very good player and likely to be the number one pick

  • i did not say that either of them were not good, i said that they were overrated. Matthew Stafford is a good quarterback, but certainly not deserving of the number one overall selection, which most people have him picked as. And Georgia was a good team, but even with the injuries that they had, they still should never have been number one, and it just shows how awful preseason rankings are

  • Stafford has all the tools. What doesn't he have? The touch on the ball is about it. Georgia was the preseason #1 team and rightfully so....returned almost every playmaker from the year before.

You realize Georgia lost 15 players to season ending injuried and still went 10-3, right? Let me know when BYU wins or even makes it to a BCS Bowl like Stafford and Georgia did.

We all know Georgia would have beat the shit out of BYU last year.

  • Well, considering the fact that i never said that BYU was any good, or that would they beat Georgia you are wrong. Also, maybe 3 of those players played a major role. and When did Stafford and Georgia get the the BCS, oh yeah the year before they were preseason #1. they got the #1 based upon the momentum carried over from the previous season, and momentum carried over a period of 7 months really doesnt play a huge role in the next season

  • i thought he had a weak arm

  • awesome Throw...

  • it was a nice throw 2 bad he missed

  • im not a fan of any of these teams, (im a patriots fan) and that was pretty impressive, and no football player or baseball player or w/e sucks, i mean there in the major leauges for a reason!

  • thats actually 63 yards

  • no he threw at a diagonal remember a squared plus b squared equals c??? yea...lol im asian

  • haha then it would be about 67 yards, but good point, you MUST be right because your asian though soi i better not question it:P

  • He reminds me of Jason Campbell.

  • he threw that to the right a little bit thats a touchdown.

  • Anyone that says they can throw a ball 60 yards no problem is full of shit. Not many NFL QBs can throw 60 yards.

  • If ur gunna say shit about this dont say it at all, or just get off of youtube.

  • Distance is overrated. According to Dan Marino, Mark Duper (a wide receiver) through it farther than him -- some 80 yards or more.

Now, it's clear Beck has arm strength. He threw it 61.1mph at the combine, which was better than all but one (including Troy Smith) in 2006 and better than Cutler the previous year. He just choose to throw it with more touch with BYU because his receivers couldn't handle the heat. However, in the NFL, they can, so he'll have to bring that part of his game back.

  • he threw it at like the 35 landed about the goal line thats 65 yard pass

  • that was about a 63 64 yarder but still for like a first year that is way good

  • i havent played ball in about 5 or 6 years i still can throw 60 its easy ...if u can throw anything over 70 or 80 then u gotta cannon

  • i hav good footwork and technique but i cant throw more than 40, can u plz giv me advice to improve my arm strength

  • everyone shutup i bet yall cant even throw it 40 yards.....

  • 45 sir

  • @nodoubt009 i can throw it 45 yards and i am ten

  • @Johnwall11Highlights yeah right

  • @TheCerta12 well i can throw it 35 yards thats my record but including the yards it bounces its 40

  • @Johnwall11Highlights i can throw it 46 yards and im 9

  • Wooh! Dolphins got a 47? I think you mean 37 there genius., own 37 to the 2 = 61 yards. Even if 70 is slightly exaggerated that's still a huge throw and it's about the the Dolphins got a QB with a cannon like Dan Marino.

  • He is about 25 yards from the sideline, and his front foot is at his 36 or 37 yard line. The ball would probably land at the goal line. That's TWO dimensions: 25 by 64.

    d=sqrt(x^2+y^2)=sqrt(25^2+64^2)=sqrt(4721)=68.7 yards

  • This comment is right. For those of you that failed geometry, go back and study. This is still much farther than the 36 or 37 to the goal line because it was a diagonal throw instead of a direct throw.

  • unless ur jamarcus russell on the other side shut the hell up

  • yeah it wasabout 63 yards.. he threw it at the 37, 50-37= 13, it landed on the goal line, 13 + 50 = 63...

  • It was about 65 yards, not 51. Opposite 35 yard line to about the goal line = 65.

  • He started to throw it from the 37 and was batted away high at the 2 so I would call that 65 yards.

  • Who needs Quinn when we just pickedd up Beck and Green, and another sick wr to replace Welker, and also dont forget we got joey porterr,so all u phin fans who dont like this years draft can blow themselves, and go cheer for another team. Zach thomas,Channing Crowder and Joey Poter are gunna rip the back feildd just watch, #1 defence of the year

  • Miami got a good 2nd round pick in the draft.

  • yay but bad first rounder i like ted qinn but he's a farliy good catcher but greater kick returner all in all fair darft for miam thats all i have to say.

  • so what if he is 26 Warren Moon Started in his Late 20's so did Jeff Garcia.

  • Yeah like some other dude said he is 25, turning 26 when the season starts, because he was on a Mormon Mission, so he has to start A.S.A.P but since Daunte is not looking 100% he has his chance. given Trent Green Doesnt get Aquired in a Trade with KC.

  • comparing JaMarcus Russell to this guy ... uh .. come'on ... it was a good play .. but .. come'on .. seriously ... come'on ... (lol)

  • JaMarcus's clone (actually it's the other way around), Daunte Culpepper, got cut by the Dolphins with Beck on the roster.

I'll be surprised if Russell does crap in the pros. He didn't impress me in college.

  • 65 yards. Not 70.

  • Throw in the trigonometric hypotenuse, and it's close to 70. He close to the middle of the field and threw it to the corner, past the goalline.

  • ^ He WAS close. I miss an editing function...

  • beck is my man! what an arm!! go do it in miami

  • and they say he doesnt have the arm strength!

  • yes and a new dolphin qb

  • How often do QB's really throw 50+ yards in the AIR? Rarely unless your team is losing and needs a hailmary.

If he can throw a SOLID 30-40 yard pass, that's all he really needs.

  • If I remember correctly Beck was just a freshman in this game. BYU was getting throttled big time in this game and they brought in Beck to throw a hail mary to end the half, only difference is this ball is low, tight and he gunned it for a receiver, he didn't just throw it up. He does have a cannon for an arm.

  • you can argue about relative arm strength but either way what's a cannon if you can't use it as well as Jamarcus

  • Welcome to the Dolphins, Mr. Beck ;) His highlight reel looks pretty good too - fast release, good feet and checks down to find the open receiver when the deep routes aren't there.

  • John Beck is 25, 26 season start! If he sits one year his gonna be 27 years old, in other words Tony Romo age, he has a nice arm.

  • Legend has it that Beck threw a ball from the 50 yard line, on his knees, through the uprights and hit the endzone wall of BYU's Stadium (about 10-15 yards past the back line). To tell you the truth, I'm pretty skeptical about this; but if so, it surpasses even Russell's 64 yard bomb from his knees.

Granted, there's the altitude factor and all, and Russell was indoors, eliminating the wind factor.

  • Do you really believe this? I mean come on!!

  • What part of "I'm skeptical" did you miss?

Besides, Beck says it wasn't true -- it was the 47. He couldn't clear it from 50. Don't know about the back wall claim though.

  • Beck has a rocket, and has a fast delivery. He had a 93 MPH fastball as a pitcher in high school. He barely looks like he's putting any force into his throws half the time, but they sail over halfway across the field.

  • this guy has no resemblance to jamarcus russell... ya beck has a good arm, but no where near what russell has. Russell through 64 yards kneeling down. Beck would be lucky to through 70 yards off his feet. Russell, probably 85-90.

  • Resemblance your right but the other way around Jamarcus Russell isnt going to come close to this guy. John Beck is the real deal, if you look at this video closer you will see he hits the guy's hands on target, his accuracy and release is probably the closest I have ever seen to Dan Marino. I have been watching the whole season and I was going crazy when Miami drafted him, he will be the starter next year and in two more years we will be SB champs!

  • Probably right...he will be good. I guess I am hater because I go to a Mountain West school and this guy throttled us every time.

  • Have you seen JaMarcus Russell's accuracy? I rest my case. btw, JaMarcus Russell threw the ball 64 yards from his KNEE!!!

  • JaMarcus Russell doesn't HAVE accuracy dipshit...go watch him play, 90% of his passes are at the recievers feet, or he's underthrowing a ball over 30 yards...He has a cannon, but the guy is a joke compared to Beck as far as accuracy goes..

  • Did I call you names? Listen Fag, you're not a scout so STFU. Russell was no. 1 overall. Where did your boy go again? What a joke. Did BYU ever win a game btw?

  • Not a BYU Fan, I LUV LSU 4 life! But,As a matter of fact BYU won 11 games plus the bowl game

  • with chambers and ginn and ronnie and ricky, i can't wait for the '07 season!! go fins!!

P.S. I HOPE I HAVE TO APOLOGIZE TO COACH CAM FOR THE UNLADY-LIKE COMMENTS I HAD FOR HIM YESTERDAY! :)

  • sick arm

  • I heard this guy's like 26 years' old. So basically, Quinn and Russell morphed together except with the weight of the Russell.

  • i think weve solved our QB woes fin fans this kid is great and im looking forward to seeing him in action during the season

  • i think cam camren liked becks strong arm to!

    welcome to the dolphins beck!

  • Damn John beck over Brady Quinn anyday

  • John Beck- welcome to the Dolphins!

  • Wasn't this as a rookie? Pretty impressive.

  • check that. As a freshman?

  • Now I see why the Dolphins picked him over Quinn...that's resembles Jamarcus Russell arm strenght right there

  • Ha ha ha ha he didnt get the touch down muhahahahaha go utes!

  • Wow what an arm!

The ball was about 5 or 6 yards deep into the enzone!

And I agree he is the best Quarter Back in the draft and nation! Beck is amazing!

  • Beck has a cannon, and he's the best QB entering the draft.
