  • It's 4 years since Drew has been making an audience entrance. Since season 37, he's been entering Door #2 as usual. But it always dawned on me that Drew should make another audience entrance due to the fact the show is in its 40th year. Bob has did his entrances in his 30th year of hosting, so why can't Drew do that?

  • @thegameshowguy1 I can't say for sure, this is only a wild, of the top of my head guess, but maybe Drew just doesn't want to do audience entrances. Maybe either he just feels more comfortable coming through the doors, or maybe he feel that that's one of the things that Bob did, and so just leave it as something that Bob did and he's not wanting to copycat it. Like I say, I don't know, just a wild, wild guess.

  • nobody can replace Bob Barker. It can't be done

  • @TheGreekMan1981 That is CORRECT!!! But HE could replace Drew Carry as host! Eh?

  • @TheGreekMan1981 Drew Carey would probably be the first to agree with you. Bob would probably say that Drew is doing the right thing by doing the show his way and not how Bob did it.

  • there were some booing in there LOLZ

  • @mattsapienza Actually, you can hear several people saying "DREW". i actually thought it sounded like booing at first, too, but I had to listen to it again...

  • I still kind of think Drew Carey took over for both Bob Barker and Rod Roddy.

  • he should come through the audience every day since bob came through the doors.

The Price is right is on my bucket list

  • WWE Hall Of Famer.

  • The comments on this video are pretty hilarious. It's as if TPIR were some sort of religion and all of its followers gathered on this video to debate things like light banners and the exact time during this episode that "Golden Road" was played.

Actually, now that I think of it, that sounds like a pretty cool religion. It's kind of like Bob Barker is God and Drew Carey is Jesus. I just hope those extreme Priceisrightists don't fuck with those ever-devout Jeopardians. We don't need another war.

  • @BradWest96 And we can't forget about those pesky WheelofFortunians. They're always trying to finish everyones thoughts, which make them hard to even have a conversation with.

  • Julie McDonald had nice tits E I E I O!

  • @TheJcp1234 Agreed. :-)

  • Damn, it was like he was running for his life without running lol

  • Random thought:

I just saw a video clip for the new season on the price is right site, and Mike Richards was featured in it and I thought to myself, how can someone so handsome, be such a dumbass? REALLY, that's a damn shame, but Drew's new look will be interesting to see throughout the season.

  • Out of curiosity, does anyone know why Drew doesn't like audience entrances? He's usually pretty comfortable with individual contestants. Or is he just afraid of being in a very large, loud crowd?

  • I can tell that Drew doesn't like the entrance from the top.

  • How come they still call It the Bob Barker studio if Drew Carey is the host?

  • @Fartingbellybutton BECAUSE THATS THE NAME OF THE BUILDING

  • @rawbov Not the building, the studio. The building is called CBS Television City.

  • To the guy asking about airdates for Season 38, the first aired episode is Sept. 18, 2009 (damn YouTube not allowing slashes for dates, where's the complaint button). The episode was taped June 10. Future episodes were all taped on June 22, 23, 24, etc. Humorous note: a lady congratulated Drew on Season 38 a bit early, which Drew brushed off and didn't say anything about; this was during Season 37. Got a chuckle out of that about a month ago.

  • I think you may be mistaken. I've seen from several sources that the new episode aired on September was the end of season 37. They waited until then to show it to coincide with the end of The Guiding Light.

  • I watched the episode last Friday. I have realized that this was a remaining unaired episode. No matter, I am here on Monday and will be watching. I wonder what's new on the set or what other changes are made. =)

  • Hopefully not more budget mode changes like WoF has done... I wonder what changes, if any, Drew was hinting at by hitting the wall next to the Showcase podiums? I guess we'll have to see.

  • Yes, I noticed that as well. I wonder if Drew also disliked the set from Season 37?

  • @CycloneGU No they were changing the set to be more high tec.

  • Let the suit jacket fiddling begin, im so glad that Bob didnt want rosie o'donnell to be the next host.

  • were they booing

  • They were saying Drew.

  • Does Drew usually do the door entrance when the show starts?

  • I miss the lights border!

  • Was always great to see Bob do the audience entrances. Nice to see Drew keeping the tradition going.

  • How do you know this?

  • When does Season 38 begin? Has it begun already?

  • This aired on the day when i was thinking to myself "when is Drew ever going to have an audience entrance?" Lo and behold, my wish came true!

  • the price is right is bring back the light border when they show a tv for a prize they have the light boreder

  • Drew should do another audience entrance one of the days just like the good ol' days when Bob was around...

  • not reffering to any coment i saw before me

but i just feel there something missing from the show, now that Drew runs the gig. like, the laughs i got from the host. Old Man jokes are funny.

  • You think Drew Carey can't be funny?

I think the only reason you aren't rolling on the floor laughing as we speak is because CBS won't let Drew use Whose Line sense of humor.

  • what are you saying tho drew only has whose line is it anyway comedy?

whatever tho im just not the biggest drew carey fan

  • If you sit down and watch Price is Right that Drew implements as much Whose Line humor as he's allowed to into the show. Remember this phrase:

"Oh wait, I'm getting something: They changed the game: It's now hole in one... OR TWO!"

    XD!

  • and you know this...how? He seemed very uncomfortable with the audience entrance and have not used it again since.

  • And, his grammar is atrocious!

  • I just looked up the episode from the mentioned date, and he came out through the doors.

  • Why doesn't TPIR have the little lights gong around the screen anymore? Are they getting too cheap with the production?

  • There's been much speculation as to why they got rid of the light border. The general consensus is that it looked like crap in standard definition (it was cut off on the left & right side of the screen starting this season).

  • OK, thanks. Is it possible that they will bring it back?

  • I don't know if they will. The show never started with a light border until eventually in 1973.

  • Actually, it was during the trial week in 1975. But, they weren't the same as the one's we're used to seeing today.

  • Oh. I see.

  • @travis7310 They started back on that when the 38th Season got started.

  • Drew doesn't have the personality that Barker did. He doesn't "play up" to the audience like Barker did, either. "Hi, how are ya. What's the first item up for bids." That's it. He doesn't talk to them as much as Barker did. Kind of a disappointment.

  • at least he gets straight to the game play

  • One way Drew could make an audience entrance really funny is do a conga line with some of the TPIR staff.

  • 11/3/2008 has not arrived yet.

  • Comparing Drew to Bob is like comparing apples to oranges. Each one is different and great in their own unique ways.

Drew is not trying to be Bob! There will never be another Bob.

  • Drew is good in his own right, he has wit and he loves making fun of some of the prizes. xD

  • No, it has happened one time. Golden Road hasn't been played 17 times this past season, either, but there has only been ONE audience entrance by Drew.

  • The first game on this episode was golden road.

  • Golden Road has only been played in a slot other than the first ONE TIME in the entire 37 year history of the show; this was not that time.

  • This was the 5th time in Season 36 that Golden Road was played. In all of its playing in Season 36, it was played first. In all of Golden Road's playings from Seasons 3 - 37, Golden Road was only not played in Slot #1 one time: the game's premiere on August 19, 1975. On the premiere, it was played third. Every other time, it was played first including Season 36.

  • I must have missed them all, geese!

  • His first audience entrance was on April 1, 1981 as an April Fool's joke. (Temptation was the first game played, so it had nothing to do with what game was played first.) His next audience entrance was on June 14, 1989. Golden Road was played there, so it was due to the first game that Bob made his audience entrance.

  • If you want to see some eps of Drew looking terribly bored check out the mds

Drew look like he was in a hurry

  • I thought it was pretty obvious that he was sicker than a dog during the first set of MDSes, and he looked pretty good during the second set.

  • Their are even some shows where he just looks bored and carless. I notice he was sick but some eps he just look out of it

  • and many shows who was full of energy

  • When did Bob Barker start coming through the audience?

  • I haven't been watching TPIR as much lately, but when I do I feel Drew's not that excited anymore or really likes what he's doing. Also, whats up with the pathetic "extra audience screaming" that is dubbed into the background noise. Its not needed to make things more exciting, its an insult to the show. *sigh*

  • Drew is very excited in this show but this episode well... :(

  • He gets into it his own way. He probably wanted to act like Bob, but Bob told him NOT to! Besides, it would be so blase! And one more thing, if you ever go see a taping in person, it is SO INCREDIBLY LOUD inside the studio that you would likely need earplugs! True story

  • No, I highly doubt Drew wanted to act like Bob. Drew just wanted to be himself.

  • And in fact, Bob himself encouraged Drew to be himself and not try to be a wannabe Bob Barker.

  • Are you kidding me?? Search, "Carey Plinko Record" and watch how excited he is, search "Carey Golden Road Viper" and watch how excited he is, search "Clock Game Million Dollars" and watch how excited he is. Drew definitely loves his job.

  • If YOU were the host of the Price is Right, wouldn't YOU LOVE IT?!?!?!

I'd pay THEM $500 a day to host the Price is Right.

  • Ditto! It would be the greatest job in the world.

  • Comment removed

  • I doubt they will always play Plinko first, and it's only when Plinko is played first that an audience entrance is needed. Therefore, I doubt Drew will make an audience entrance before every Plinko playing.

  • If they are played first, then Drew will most likely make an audience entrance. Same if One Away is played first.

Additionally, there are games like Pick-a-Pair, Pathfinder, Grand Game, Punch-a-bunch, It's in the Bag, More or Less, Buy or Sell, Balance Game, and Cliff Hangers that are hardly ever (if ever) played first but if they were played first, Drew would make an audience entrance for them.

(I hope that Cliff Hangers, a favorite to most viewers, gets to be played first.)

  • or golden road

  • He needs to slow down a little. and give more high5's

  • Comment removed

  • I like how he ignored the Page. Bob always high-fived them. I don't think a host needs to be nice to them.

  • Seriously? He (Bob) also high-fived the models. There's nothing wrong with high-fiving a person in the studio.

  • What?!?

  • Dear Lord people, what is the big deal with coming in from the back of the studio?

  • It's happened 5 times this season.

Golden Road has been played 6 times so far this season--5 times he entered through the Big Doors and once through the audience.

  • I liked it.

Now if he doesn't hurt himself - try the turntable sometime.

  • I glad he finally did one. Hopefully he'll do these before every Golden Road playing from now on!
