Thank you for uploading and anyone stating, or believing, that Red West could "mimic" Elvis is either; uninformed or just an instigator. Red West, who was a gifted song writer and actor, could not carry a tune in a bucket. Elvis, on the other hand had a range of 4 1/2 octaves and in spite of his declining health (which was life threatening beginning in late 1973) Elvis' voice even in his 1977 CBS broadcast concert was...incredible.
If the person who uploaded this vid had uploaded about 10 seconds sooner... you can hear Elvis sing an operatic one liner and stop and ask... "Can you get into that Red?" And then on into this piece from Carousel he went. It is clearly Red West who is Red, even without the question to Red West in the very beginning that you cannot hear on this version, anyone who thinks that this is NOT Elvis Presley is one dumbass nonmusic knowing piece of grabasstic amphibian shit.!! Its Elvis Presley!!!
Sadly I don't have this 10 second piece leading up to this song so thanks for the info. And I agree, of cause too what you said about people not knowing this is Elvis.
Fory anyone who believes this is an impersonator I can understand your confusion. But if you know Elvis then you know it is he playing the piano as well.
@kingdaddie It;s Elvis ..I have beena hardcore fan ..I have all these types of recordings..this recording was found in Vernon Presleys office at Graceland..I know what I am talking about !!
@kingdaddie I an'nt gonna argue with someone who quite clearly does'nt know when they hear Elvis voice..I know the history of this song and where it came from ..Its on many Elvis bootlegs till RCA released it on an official Album 10 years ago.IT IS ELVIS I would bet my kids lives on it ..
@kingdaddie Are you insane or deaf ?? your choice ? You are not a fan thats obvious and if you don't know this is Elvis then you have no knowledge of the recordings of Elvis .
When it comes to Elvis I know my facts and I know every single professional and amatuer recording ever made by Elvis ..I have documented everything he did from interviews to informal recordings .
interesting that you said " I an'nt gonna argue with someone who quite clearly does'nt know when they hear Elvis voice..." yet here you are arguing again.
It is Elvis, true. But Red West singing this for Elvis sounds suspiciously identical. Elvis was an imitator, even I'll admit that. Easily a few original demos that Elvis was too sick to record could have been slipped in and passed off as the real deal. In fact, it happened. It truly did.
Elvis was very ill and had a very hard life. Sigh.
This is my favorite song from a musical, "Carousel" which i had the pleasure of acting in yrs ago. I was so glad when I discovered Elvis had sang it. It is just such a moving piece
I'm sorry I don't get the fascination with Elvis Presley, he's at best a male version of Brittany Spears, it was only cause he was once habdsome and made the right choice that made him an icon
Are you really lonely and yearning for a thousand replies, or really ignorant and yearning for a thousand brain cells?
This is Elvis fooling around. Still fascinating and quite good.
If you think that records like Hound Dog, One Night With You, Mystery Train, That's Alright Mama, Are You Lonesome Tonight, Little Sister, Suspicious Minds and countless others rank alongside Hit "Me Baby One More Time" than you rank right alongside stupid.
once handsome - correction if you thing only the young Elvis was, look at him in his 1968-jan1973 years. and secondly, i think he was so underrated for his singing ability. his general image and star and reputation from the 50's, overshadowed his actualy ability in later years, especially now, the image of him being overwieght in a jumpsuit and dying young . i challenge you to go to listen some of his albums, like 'from Elvis in Memphis' or 'Elvis country'. he's far better than most realise
Billy Bigelow asks for permission to be sent down "from above" for one day to try and make amends for mistakes he made in life. Billy worked at the carnival as a carousel barker, which is where he met Julie. The carousel owner, Mrs. Mullin, fired him because of jealousy, and he and Julie got married. Billy got into bad habits when he couldn't find a job and they were forced to live with Julie's cousin Nettie after Julie was fired from her factory job for staying out late with Billy.
"If I Loved You" is such a beautiful song. Elvis' performance of this song was splendid. I have this performance on the Elvis CD "The Home Recordings" and the Elvis FTD CD "In A Private Moment". Elvis will always be the king. I now have 180 Elvis CD's, 69 Elvis DVD's, 30 Elvis Books and a bunch of other Elvis stuff. Thanks so much for posting that superb video.

The naysayers want to destroy "THE KING" by saying he didn't sing on his own recordings. How lame. It isn't going to work.
