  • WHY DID I NOT GO SEE THIS SHOW WHEN I HAD THE CHANCE? I COULD SHOOT MYSELF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Wish there was a DVD OF THIS G3!!!!!!!!!!!! ARG

  • he took this from vai

  • @bajaracer40x This is "get out of my yard", an PG song from the homonymous album...

  • @bajaracer40x proof?

  • Respond to this video... look at the g 3 video with malmsteen, im not saying its bad

  • When Eddie Van Halen dies, Paul Gilbert shall take over!

  • @YodaVanGrindey95 what? take over what? van halen isn't on the same block as this guy

don't get me wrong, he's pretty good...but he's never been on this level

  • @YodaVanGrindey95 Bland Halen is no longer good...

  • my guitar teacher...through instructional vids.

  • Paul Gilbert>Chuck Norris

  • Why the Headphones?

  • @maty7976321

    Too avoid tinnitus.

  • i wonder why he is always wearing headphones

  • @aquabat104 Paul said in several interviews that the loud music and sound really hurt his ears, so that's why he always wear those big ass headphones when playing loudly. He also recommends to use them to everyone, 'cause there's nothing worse to a musician to damage their ears.

  • i wish this was a dvd

  • hurts my back just looking at that guitar lmao

  • GET OUT OF MY YARD!

  • Paul would be my #1 choice as an ambassador of earth if we ever meet the aliens

they probably already know all about him as music they say is universal...

  • I want him to teach me guitar! \m/\m/

  • gotta love the pants

  • everytime I see paul, he has a new look

  • Why so hostile? All I said was that I hadn't heard anything slow and melodic. Surely, as an accomplished guitarist myself, I would realize that he is able, I just simply stated that I hadn't heard anything. Your statement "that's a bit much to ask" implies something based on cynicism... are you O.K? Chill. I'd be happy to dig into those archives. Thanks.

  • @123jozef /watch?v=3tFOA4gnW1A

  • Very fast technical player... well educated... I've never really heard him play anything slow and melodic.. yet

  • @123jozef Like... seriously? If you delved into his earlier solo work I'm sure you'd be shocked, but that's a bit much to ask. Therefore, I'd direct you to his work with Mr. Big. Notably the songs "To be with you" and "Green tinted sixties mind". Mind you, he recorded those songs over 20 years ago. Paul has a lot of pop influences and they were thoroughly indulged in his early solo career. I'm a firm believer there's nothing Paul can't play well.

  • @123jozef you need to listen to him a bit more .

  • woww

  • (insert comment about how long his pinky is here)

  • I mean.. Mark Knopfler really knows how to play a guitar..

  • Boring!!!

  • @Pan3405 so as your mother.

  • @Pan3405 lolwut

  • i wish shredders would tour up here in canada :( satch shows up sometimes, but i want PAUL GILBERT

  • if people want to master the guitar should masturbate less, and practice more!

  • what the hell just happened?

  • i was never on his yard!

  • hahahaha i'd love to see Buckethead do that

  • no shit jonahtran............a solo can be in a song. Thank you and good night. Stay off the YT buddy. Leave it for people who know what they are talking about. Take care shlizleboo.

  • @bkljaydee actually, he does know what he's talking about. music solos pretty much originated in jazz music, and its basically improving over whatever chord structure they have for that portion of the song.

  • @iluvme4never . You are way on druggies little drugsmuggler

  • @bkljaydee haha, funny. actually, i've never even touched drugs before (other than the occasional ibuprofen when i have a headache). i don't plan on doing any of them either.

  • @iluvme4never

Solos were in music LONG before Jazz.

As far back as several Centuries.

Soloing started over bass lines, not chords in Early Music.

    And in Classical Music; The Cadenza;

Initially an improvised cadence by a soloist; later becoming an elaborate and written out passage in an aria or concerto, featuring the skills of an instrumentalist or vocalist.

You need some Music History study.

  • @Rexicano thanks for the history lesson.

  • @Rexicano you do realize the bass line of a song is based off its chord structure, right?

  • @arrogantprick101

You do realize what you don't know would fill a library?

It's not always that way; if fact it can be just the opposite.

Well, what can one expect with a name like yours. Idiot.

  • @Rexicano i'm guessing you've never taken a music theory class before, you fucking moron. yes, you can determine a chord structure from the bass line, but the bass line is still based off its chord structure.

  • Paul Gilbert is the "best" guitar player in this age

  • @Ectotherm AND the next as well ;)

  • @PortalRealm and the next

  • @Ectotherm He is the most talented guitar player ever to play something we want to hear, Malmsteen has the most talent playing the guitar ;)

  • @Ectotherm what about knopfler

  • @motorhead1995able knopfler is another story.. that guy is real talented!!!!

  • @Pan3405 what do u mean>?

  • @Ectotherm guitar player maybe. musician not at all. But then there is still Steve Vai yo....way better guitar player. you better agree with that

  • @scottvineyard7 Um...no, Shawn lane is the most skilled guitarist of all time and im certain nobody will disagree with that

  • @silkstringzzz Do you even know what a musician entails? Do you even understand what I mean by a guitar player, then a musician? Did you read my comment? You're funny kid.

  • @scottvineyard7 Forgive me for clicking your name instead of Ectotherm. That is who I was addressing....also I am funny, yet im not a kid. I would also like to add that I know more entail on musicianship than you will probably ever imagine. Also I would like to add this, FUCK YOU!

  • @silkstringzzz Haha you don't know shit and it's halarious. Wanna guitar battle? Lets work it bitch.

  • @scottvineyard7 Alright you little fag. I went to your page and examined your pathetic over usage of pentatonic shit and saw that you had GnR favorited and immediately thought this is a waste of my time. But I decided that you deserve to be humiliated so, you pick what ever in the fuck you want me to play over backing track or improv over a song and we'll get it done. I just have to find some way to video...

  • @silkstringzzz No, you make a video of you writing some music, and soloing in between it like me. Not your faggy improv that your jazz class taught you. Fucking idiot

  • @Ectotherm of all time.

  • @Ectotherm Sorry, but how can you say if he is the best? There is no best guitarist cause they are different genres. You saying that he is the best isn't a fact, it's just your opinion. For me, Paul is a very good guitarist, unique and above everything, an excelent rhythm guitar player. But, for me for example, the best guitarists are Jason Becker and Shawn Lane cause I like them the most. Unique and with such a gift...There will never be a guitarist like them.

  • @Ectotherm Yep, one of the greatest guitar players I have ever heard!

  • it's not a solo. it's part of his song "get out of my yard"

  • @jonahtran1 yah i know. its more of a solo though, cuz he really doesnt play ALL the song. but yeah its a part of get out of my yard

  • @PortalRealm not exactly. a true solo is improvised. what most "solos" today are aren't real solos. they're just melodic pieces played fast. and in some cases it's ok to play a fast melodic piece..... like in paul gilbert's case. but that's just because he kicks ass!

  • @jonahtran1 songs have solos

  • @skateracl not all of them. and i'm not saying melodic-pieces-played-really-fast is a bad thing as long as you can make up for it by being paul gilbert.... or learning how to improvise very very very very very very very very very well.

  • @jonahtran1 Yeah, an extended solo from get out of my yard

  • mighta known he woulda done Get Out Of My Yard at the G3. Tryin' to make Satch look bad lol

  • never heard of this dude til now- automatically goes into one of the best guitarists Ive heard

  • @metallicafan518 yeah man you should REALLY check his stuff. you wont regret it

  • @PortalRealm seriously, Mr. Big, Racer X... this guy is, in my opinion THE best guitarist i've ever heard.

  • <3~Ibanez~<3 ^_^

  • The Joe Satriani show that I attended a few years back with Paul Gilbert supporting him was the best show I've ever seen in my life and I've been to a lot of shows!!!

I wasn't really a big Satch fan until after that gig, but now I like him just as much as Paul.

  • @lespaulzrule Was that on Joe's 'Professor Satchifunkilus' Tour?? That's the first time I saw him, been in love with him ever since :D

  • what the fuck with the headphones?

    lol

  • @guitarsorrow they're not headphoned, they're ear defenders... he's been playing guitar professionally for around 23 years and is used to standing infront of amp stacks the size of my garage... go figure

  • @JSSV just to be clear, they are headphones that also block out the stage noise. He uses them as monitors with a wireless receiver. i have the same ones.

  • @guitarsorrow Paul has lost a lot of his hearing...sadly on his website he shows you a chart of how bad his hearing is.... Years of intense live playing especially with Mister Big. Paul wore no ear protection.

  • mitico!!! xD

  • hey no way gilbert the best among these ladies

  • Guitar masturbation session ...rubbish ...not an an ounce of feeling anywhere ...srv all the way .

  • lol

  • dude why evrybody say this is a solo that GET OUT OF MY YARD damn i'm sick of this

  • Gilbert is better than Vai overall, but Petrucci and Satriani are better, Gilbert is like 3rd best

  • No way is Petrucci better. He may be faster at pure scale runs, but nothing else. And how you can rate Vai in fourth is beyond me.

  • I agree, idk why people gave you so many thumbs down.

Gilbert has great speed and decent phrasing. Petrucci also has great speed and great phrasing. satriani has killer phrasing and is very original in these regards. vai is just a show off, and to be frank, i don't think his phrasing or technical abilities are as good as any of the latter listed guitarists

but hell, they are all guitar gods. truly great.

  • @jckbac9 i don't know if vai is a showoff i just don't think he is as good as petrucci, satriani or gilbert. If you wana see a show off check out michael angelo batio. that guy sucks.

  • @MONSTERDT2112 agreed

  • he's not as great of a showman as vai, but goddamn can he fucken play.

  • well, that's the show I guess :P

  • but have you seen vai's ridiculous live facial expressions?

  • OMG!!! CANADA WON!!!!

(and yes, he looks like he's having a 'gasm. quite the man :] )

  • FUCK CANADA! CROSBY IS A PUSSY!

(anyone who can orgasm by simply playing his guitar is a hero to me ; )

  • They both have ridiculous facial expressions, but that doesn't matter that much. Try Buckethead if you don't like facial expressions :P

  • @SeTorsken HAHAHA! made my night. Buckethead is my kind of chicken.

  • hey eric clapton its almost def too because of 40 years of gigs

  • I think You've lost the beggining of the music.

Or he just didn't played it completely?

  • His so called condition has no effect on his playing. One way or another it is overcome.

  • MOTHA FUCKING EVIL!

  • That was suposed to be SPL sound pressure level

  • @guitark3 ......sorry , dude it's actually a medical condition , and the other's are right....it's called Tinitis. He has to wear the earpieces.

  • There monitors not hearing protection. Eric Johnson does this also along with a lot of drummers. They make ear plug filters to cut down db and slp however they dont make headphones for this he wouldn't be able to hear ANYTHING.

  • he uses the headphones as both ear monitors and protectors because of tinnitus

  • you left out the best part D:

  • he has somthing called tinitus and its to protect his ears

  • tinnitus is when you hear this awfull squeel in your ears right?

  • yeah more of a ringing type of squeel, but some poeple have it worse than others.

  • get out my yard :D

  • plus...he looks like a bad ass

  • why the earphones

  • i heard he fucked up his ears a while back, and now they're legit protection.

  • Comment removed

  • he does it so hear himself at full quality and make sure everything is right

it's really hard to actually hear your own guitar on stage

  • he's almost deaf.

  • epic backing track :D paul is best

  • your fucking lucky if you go to a paul gilbert concert. mother fucker needs to come back to america and stay here.

  • Yeah he does I'd give anything to see Paul live.

  • i was there sick show!!!!

  • GET OUT OF MY YARD!

    :D

  • i love paul gilbert

  • I think humans can't go beyond this level on playing guitar.... PERFECTIoN!!!!

  • @nepalihimali malmsteen can

  • @Aaronkercheval malmsteen's good but i think paul's better

  • @DietGrape dude i dnt agree

but paul is awesome i love him

i ahte malmsteen but gotta face facts hes better

paul and yngwie "my" top guitarists

  • @DietGrape PAUL is better... Malmsteen doesnt write his music

  • @nepalihimali i dont even thnk he's human :P

  • god... ill just quit playing... thats insane

  • song: Get out of my yard

  • why is he so good i think im just going to quit on life lol

  • lmfao

  • paul, go take your fuckin alien hands and ridicuously amazing playing elsewhere. you're making me feel bad about my own paying

  • I always find it hilarious to read comments on guitar god pages... Sure, all these guys are awesome, sure they should be appreciated...but virtuosic playing is hardly the beginning and end of guitar playing.

It's hilarious to watch this endless battle going on of "NO FUCKTARD, MALMSTEEN IS GOD! VAI CAN SUCK MY DICK!"

When I say endless, I really mean endless. Ever since shredding was born the debate has been going on. It will never stop and you'll never convince the other guy you're right

  • you ungreatful bastards... its nice to compare guitar heroes, but its pathetic to say degrading words about a guitar hero. We all know each of them has their individual style and technique. Theyre playing coz their sharing their talent with you and all you can do is say shit!!! shame on you, you call yourself human? Thats why this world gets worse!!! Paul and all the guitar Gods rule and you dont... point made!!

  • ok alexi is not better than buckethead, buckethead is a shred master!

  • Love it!

  • GET OUT OF MY YARD <3

  • You've never seen a double neck SG, have you?

  • You and your fucked up 3 metre thick necks!

  • When did Vai cease to amaze you?

  • Buckethead is my fav guitarist at the moment..hes the bomb..i cant understand tho how some people say that buckethead, gilbert, bumblefoot, satch, vai, evh are better than hendrix? rubbish..technique certainly..better..no.cos all i gotta do is look up {band of gypsys}machine gun at the filmore east..a performance of nearly 40 years ago..and i can hear and see for myself youre talking shit.

  • im kind of tired of hearing a bunch of people whine about how they think some mainstream guitarist from the 70's was so much better than so and so...we get it, your head is stuck in the past, let it go. music has evolved a lot since then, so whenever you're ready to join us in reality, come on over. "feeling" and "soul" are subjective. you listen to jimi and hear something special, whilst i hear jimi, and hear a big mess of awful sounding crap...you get my point.

  • I agree to a certain extent...Yes he was out of tune, and yes he wasn't very technical...But look what he did for Rock music, he changed it forever. But yer, people need to let go and realise that there is alot more guitarists who are alot better. But still, respect Hendrix!

  • And obviously your opinion is vastly superior to anyone else's.

  • dude are u serious? have you ever heard buckethead's music? population override? colma? electric tears? dragons of eden albums?

    thanatopsis? i'm like seriously WTF!!

  • Alexi Laiho? lol really?

  • Paul Gilbert. Fucking Amazing. Enough said.

  • Los Angeles! Get out of my yard! lol awesome

  • When is Paul going to learn how to play guitar like the rest of us? Oh wait, he did, when he was like, 12!

  • that was badass

  • i wish they released this G3 on DVD, cos this one was the best one

  • wtf man are u completely stoned theres no fucking way

  • gilbert taught buckethead so they have a similar style

  • The main difference between Buckethead and Paul Gilbert is that Buckethead explores the darkside of the force, while Paul gilbert explores the good side.

  • Wicked way to put it.

  • some one flipped at me once on here cas i said paul gilbert was slightly nerdy in his personality and that it was like star wars in that buckethead was his apprentice and went to the slightly darker side :/ lol

  • lol pauls a funny guy...not to mention awsome

  • ustedes son unos pelañemas!

  • paul gilbert... my guitarhero....

  • Who The Fuck Are You?

  • lol they're just comparing and saying who and who is better thats all =]
