I cant belive it my alltime fav. song!/Scott /Bill/ just smokin it!!! live(God)

  • Bill Evans is just a BEAST!

  • Is this considered modal jazz?

  • A double bass solo.... I certainly didn't expect to see that.

  • Alguien podría decirme en qué disco sale esta versión exacta del walts for debbie?

    Gracias

  • @tonimiro75 Live At the Village Vanguard...Regarded as one of the MOST IMPORTANT LIVE RECORDINGS OF THE 20th century...

  • @Chetsound65 Village Vanguard ('61) was with Scott LaFaro (b). This is with Chuck Israels (b) and is a live recording from 1965. Not sure if this was made into an album though.

  • 出だし30秒で虜になる。

  • Bill Evans and Chuck Israels had really good chemistry together.

  • personnel?

  • @straitaheadjazz Bill Evans (piano), Chuck Isreals (bass), Larry Bunker (drums). One of the most outstanding of trios.

  • TheJazzzCritic approves of this filmclip. Bill Evans often hated it when his work was analyzed...he always thought it should be listened to and enjoyed. But, in his own modest way, was drawing attention away from the fact that he was a pioneer - pioneering into the uncharted lands of "the new sound", a new way of playing jazz. Everything about this rendering by this trio is pure perfection.

  • i wish i had a time machine so i could go back to the era where bill evans still lives :')

  • This is music...

  • see also on you tube a bassist and a keyboardist in good improvisation of Brazil simply enter dupla dinamica do tupi a live no you tube

  • Thank you Jane!

  • @joefalchetto You are welcome :D

  • Fucking genius...If i could choose another life...i would like to be Bill...It´s so gorgeous...Makes me feel alive...

  • @Locamatea I agree!

  • I would like to know if that is Scott Lafaro... thank you for your replies

  • @freekazoid8489 Chuck Israels. Scott had a different style of interplay. more engaging, rhythmic, and virtuosic. Israels is great though

  • Is this the artist also known as "Young Playtex"? Thanks in advance :)

  • is he playing with paul motian and scott lafaro???

  • excelente video !!

  • What year was this????????????????????

  • I love it...

  • He was wonderful and played like a great classical pianist. Bill Evans is a GENIUS!!!

  • I'm kind off new to jazz.Does anyone knows any good song similar to this?

I also like take five by Dave Brubeck ;)

  • @ThisBodyLikesMusic Definitely listen to Autumn Leaves. It uses transitions in Major and Minor Keys too. Just not in 3/4. And try listening to Delilah by Clifford Brown & Max Roach.

  • @ThisBodyLikesMusic If you like it... try to look for more Bill Evans, also other pianist that play in trio settings like Keith Jarret and Oscar Peterson

  • @freekazoid8489 a lot of folks like Jarret and Peterson, but everybody digs Bill Evans...

  • @ThisBodyLikesMusic Listen to Bill Evans' albums "A Portrait in Jazz" and "Explorations". The best thing for you to do is just browse around youtube and discover jazz on your own.

  • Bill Evans was a musical genius. He has to be considered one of the best jazz pianist of all time.

  • Genios los tres para SIEMPRE. Esto es un TRIO de jazz.

  • I have watched this several times before and I never forgot it... Brilliant!

    Bill Evans was a genius.

  • great bass solo and the entrance for Bill's solo is awsome...

    2:40... now...lets sing! :)

  • He was playing on a Steinway :-)

  • you wouldnt believe if I told you how many times I have watched this video, Magical

  • @atpiecuch I could listen to this for the rest of my life and never get tired of it!

  • Genius any way you look at it.

  • hey i didn't know that Leon Trotsky played the drums

  • @toskoramone And Bobby Fischer played the bass.

  • @toskoramone Neither did I know that Clark Kent played piano, and so well!

  • This is honestly one of the best things I've seen and heard in my life

  • Magico...

  • これ聴きながらベランダで1杯♪

  • Bill Evans ne cherchait pas à en mettre plein la vue ! Son jeu de piano est léger, raffiné et aérien.

  • Quien es l culo roto q vota negativamente????

  • Love when the drums kick in!

  • This is a very beautiful version of WALTZ FOR DEBBY, however I prefer the 1970 duo version with Eddie Gomez, and the version from the 1980 LAST GERMAN CONCERT.

  • Very Soothing :))

  • Piano perfection! Such an interesting person and musician...Clint Eastwood should make a film about Bill Evan's life. Crispin Glover could play him.

  • @HeartwoodHotel Yeah with Kyle Eastwood on the double bass.

  • @HeartwoodHotel wow i agree with that

  • perfect

  • is there a recorded version of this?

  • Wowser! ONLY on youtube!

  • So fucking amazing!!!!!!

  • Great!!!

  • This might be the most beautiful music ever written. I really wish I could have seen Bill Evans play. I suppose im 18 so im a bit off. Im extremely grateful that these magnificent videos were filmed.

  • @huntermaui he was coming out to australia, i was so happy, but he passed away. It was the biggest loss to music.

  • no camera love for the drummer

  • Great!

  • At first I thought the title said "Waltz for Dobby" I was like WTF.

  • Next to Chick Corea, Bill Evans was the most creative pianist to ever live. Too bad he's still not around to grace us with his beautiful playing. RIP, Bill. You are missed.

  • @bumfan Are they really compatible? I hardly think any distinguished Jazz figure can be comparable. That's why they appeared above the rest.

Regardless, we both agree that Corea and Evans are amazing.

  • Absolutely magnificent. Rest in peace Bill.

  • Lovely-

  • the tempo transition at around 1:00 is what the feeling of injecting heroin sounds like.

  • nada mejor q un poco de bill evans para relajarse :3

  • Bill evans with Scott LaFaro:that great understanding

  • @AlessandroFortarel That's Chuck Isreals on bass, not Scott. I knew Scott and know C.I. But as far as I'm concerned scott was by far the best bassist with Bill I ever heard-and I would know.

  • @rezmogm sorry,my terrible mistake

  • @AlessandroFortarel No big deal, Alessandro! Check out any of the UT vids with the album cover with the photo of Bill (very young) and it says above his head Bill Evans Trio. Autumn Leaves, Come Rain or come shine, What is this thing called love, etc. on it.

  • @rezmogm I have the beautiful cd "At the Village Vanguard",during a 1961 engagement at New York's Village Vanguard, just days before bassist Scott LaFaro's tragic death in a car accident. At the time, the Vanguard date yielded two separate live albums, SUNDAY AT THE VILLAGE VANGUARD and WALTZ FOR DEBBY. The present disc is a selection from the two previous releases which are also available as individual discs.Your cd are the beautiful studio sessions PORTRAIT IN JAZZ in late December 1959

  • @AlessandroFortarel Yes, they are all great recordings. I've had every LP that was ever produced by Bill. Wasn't Jade Visions by Scott on the Sunday album? I can't remember exactly.

  • @rezmogm in "At the village vanguard" there is Jade Visions By Scott LaFaro..kinds regards

  • my favourite pianist of all time. awesome,

  • Thanks for posting such amazing video!!

  • Happy Birthday, Bill! Thanks nice music. I love you forever....

  • Today will be Bill's birthday...

  • I'm always in amazement of people that worry about what others like,,,,I love Bill Evans and everybody that has played with him....If people want to like Taylor S. or Justin B . let them waste their time,...

  • Billfreaks, you are invited to a beautiful Bill Evans master class on YT! The class includes an in-depth analysis of Bill's classic solo performance "A Time for Love". You will LOVE this, promise:) Type in "Dave Frank" Bill Evans on YT.

  • 58 people are Cocksucking Motherfuckers!!!

  • @n64wilbert 58 I bet all 58 people are your extended family who are sick of your jazz superiority complex, intollerance and the fact you cannot find either a girlfriend or hobby that will get you from under their feet for a few precious hours. Move out of your parents. You owe them you very life and a bit of space.

  • @Moistmuscle What's the point of having a girlfriend if you study Quantum mechanics,Nanotechnologly,Economics,Biology,History and Music?

  • @Moistmuscle Females aren't my goal in life they contradict my behavior because i'm diagnosed with the Asperger's syndrome!!!

  • @n64wilbert What the hell are Ass-burgers? how did you catch them?

  • @n64wilbert What the hell are Ass-burgers? how did you catch them? bet it was while attending a community based, jazz/fusion concept clinic for the afflicted.

  • @Moistmuscle By enjoying way too much Stanley Clarke,Eddie Lang,Django Reinhardt,Mahavishnu Orchestra and Return to Forever which everyone hates and they would rather listen to Justin Bieber,Kaye West, and Ke$ha.

  • @Moistmuscle wow u should get a life

  • いつかこの曲をベースでひけるようになりたい!! I want to be able to play this song on my bass guitar!!

  • the coolest trio of all time

  • Bill is the most intelligent musician that ever lived... He is just stupendous. He says more on the keys than anyone else ever will. And I'm a drummer for the record

  • From what album is this particular live recording?

  • Listening to such brilliance as this makes me ashamed to call myself a professional musician..

  • Love it ........

  • 私もこんな風に弾けるジャズピアニストになりたい。。。目標です!

  • 56 who dislikes are not humans .........

  • sometimes songs without words say so much more then those with words.

  • i like so much this stile , won´t go exist other pianist like him

  • Original WALTZ FOR DEBBIE (1961)

    Bill Evans – piano

    Scott LaFaro – bass

    Paul Motian – drums

    [edit]

  • @mrezabek1

The bassist is Chuck Israels ;)

  • Saw Bill Evans live in Jazz Workshop in Boston, but with Jimmy Garrison and Philly Jo Jones (hope I spell it right). It was 1967 and first time I saw Bill Evans with his head up and actually laughing - who would not with Philly Jo? Sounded good but the old mood with Scott never returned. Completely different.

    mothabass

  • If Bill Evans isn't the coolest cat that ever lived..........

  • Didn't stay a waltz for very long, did it? ha ha What a blast!

This is one of the best Bill Evans videos I've seen! Thanks for posting.

  • anybody ever hear "To Wendy With Love", by Sounds Orchestral?

  • Gotta put this song in the shed.

  • やっぱりかっこいいです。尊敬します

  • I play bass and piano and I think this is awesome.

    channel: fatfatat444

  • oh my the waltz was gone :( oh well

but never a bad thing in music lol

I think this was Chick Corea's arrangement because he played it a lot, but now I think he took the progressions from Evans' version while retaining the waltz.

  • How could someone dislike this? I guess they missclicked the button :)

  • I love Bill Evans for putting so much emotion in whatever he is playing. It is always so easy to take his music into ur heart.

Waltz of Debby is my number one favorite of Bill Evans tunes. It is just simply amazing! Love it!

  • Yes mattapm- those who wold say they do not undrstand one of the greatest jazz pianists who ever lived but would only choose to listen to pop music, admit to their lack of lifes experiences. Notice I wont say they are stupid; they just haven't lived yet. For many of them, usually the youth, imagine if you were still lying in a cradle in a wet diaper whining in pain because no one taught you how to play a piano like Bill Evans can- I rest my case (I also practiece daily) -Mark Seibold

  • very smooth, very together, very professional, and very crisp. Yeah..... I'm diggin it!

  • ビル・エヴァンスの奏でる繊細なピアノの音が好きです。

  • Bill was kind of an odd duck. But then most geniuses are. Even though his life-long battle with drugs took him too early, he left a hell of a music legacy.

  • Wonderful. It would be nice if the post would credit the other members of the trio. (I'm assuming it's Scott Lofaro on bass...) Thanks for this. Bill Evans remains one of the all-time great jazz composers and interpreters of his own work.

  • @coldplay9982 it would seem your cock has a bad taste...(in music of course)

  • @coldplay9982 that's because your cock is obsessed with pop punk band members' sphincters. let him grow better ears, good sir, let him grow!

  • @coldplay9982 What a shame that your cock is more important to you than your brain. I hope that while you're at the clinic they explain to you what an *sshole you are, and that you don't have to live as a moron for your whole life if you can only think with your mind, listen with your ears, and stop playing with yourself. Maybe then you could make a comment on here that is worth replying to? Or maybe you should just get back under your bridge?

  • One of my favorite jazz bass solos by Chuck Israels!

  • No no no, this ain't Scott and surely not Eddie...

  • Beautiful music.Great to have playing as you fall asleep for the night.

  • Absolutely amazing!!!!!!!!

  • I just hope I can find one woman in the whole world who loves music like this as much as I do, maybe I will come to the United States and stroll around in jazz bars for that doesn't seem to exist here where I live.

  • This composition made my dream come true

  • aaa bill evans...nao cansso de ouvir suas musicas

  • The bassist who's playing here is Chuck Israels. He is best known for his work with the Bill Evans Trio from 1961 through 1966 after the untimely death of bassist Scott LaFaro in 1961.

  • I think thats eddie gomez? but not sure. somebody fill in me & sulim80 please.

  • Is that is Scott LoFaro playing with Evans?

  • @sulim80 he is not Scott.may be Eddie i guess.

  • @mediawatchjapan No the one playing bass is Scott Lafaro

  • @Auraruth8 No. This is Chuck Israels.

  • @NeilCasual O yea sorry mix up. =)

  • @mediawatchjapan No. This is Chuck Israels.

  • Qué delicia.

  • @Jamesns35

You agree, emotions in jazz are very strong because these musicians live their musics !!

Bill Evans didn't sleep for playing piano.

    (sorry for mistakes, i'm french)

  • he is the God of jazz piano!

  • It's amazing!!! I'm sorry for who dislikes this kind of music.

  • @mattapm yeah, i felt sorry for them 2.

  • @jane8948 Thanks for posting this marvelous composition!!!

  • @jane8948 i felt sorry for them 58

  • @mattapm I feel that i should not judge other people by what music they enjoy, but people who do not enjoy music like this have very different taste than mine.

  • bill got style

  • Respond to this video... best jazz piano i have ever heard

  • inarrivabile trio!

  • great stuff great stuff

  • @TheBobbsey When intoxicated by beautifull music people do silly things

  • Sweet jazz

  • 53 people have no taste in music

  • This is groove

  • Now this is pure JAZZ! LOVE IT!

  • i am 17 years old, and love this. Jazz is the only form of music that comes straight from the heart, I wish other kids my age could realize how incredible this music is.

I will let them suffer with Justin Bieber, until they understand how amazing real music actually is.
