This is quite the conundrum w/conflicting schools of thought. There's the "First Come, First Serve Doctrine" aka the "I saw her first Rule", in which the first guy to go on a date wins all rights to said girl FOREVER. Then again, there's always the "Finders keepers, losers weepers Doctrine" , in which everything is always fair game.

Clearly this is a landmark decision in your friendship & Dave better be prepared to live w/the consequences. He should just find someone else & respect his Ethan

Firstly - If Ethan still had feelings, he should've pursued for longer than two dates. You've gotta follow-through after you take a swing at something.

Secondly - If Ethan had said he was uncomfortable, Dave should have respected it as a friend. However, Ethan should have been mature enough to move on.

Thirdly - At what point does what the girl want come into play?

Lastly - This is partly selfish on my part as I'd prefer Ethan to stay single for my own agenda. :-)

I think it's more clear in girl code that a friend isn't allowed to date an ex. I thought in guy code, if you're done with one girl, that you have no more claims over her. So, Ethan, the question to you is "Are you really done with her?" If you still want to be with her, Dave should back off. If you have no chance in hell, you should be all about your friend getting a chance. And if neither of you have a chance, go get a few drinks and find someone new.

Heyy guys. Here's what I think. Ethan, I think you have every right to be upset. Your friend just doesnt take a girl out that you have feelings for. Because who knows? This girl may have feelings for you, and Dave taking her out may ruin it all. But at the same time, she could go out with Dave and realize that, if she has feelings for you too, that she really does like you. And Dave, bases dont matter! I feel that slower you go the better, because it's getting to know the person that counts!
