When I'm painting on it it has really crappy colors, but when i rotate it the colors go back to 32 bit. When i stop rotating the 3d model it re-samples it and goes back to a crappy color. Looks like its in 16bit mode after a rotation. any idea?
So this will sorta replace 3d body paint? Can i use this with my CAD software like inventor to make textures? Can i import the textures back into my 3D app? And does it work with blennder?
When i want to import a 3d file all the menu is faded which means i cannot use them can you help me plz.
I'm trying to make a animated movie but i can't seem to import 3d files to photoshop cs4 extended so then i can extract 3d files import them to after effects and animate them, plz help me pleaseeeeee.
For the people that say that this can't replace 2d texturing I can't understand why do you say that, is it not possible to get the same detail? why? I see it very confortable for box-like models, there is no distortion there if you apply a 2d image directly. Please answer me.
Do you, or anybody else for that matter, have any idea why the 3D options menu on my CS4 isn't applyable? I mean i gett the rollout meny out but then all the options are like faded, so I can't use em? thanks
@Starvois1999 you can make it in 3d programms like:Cinema 4D,3DS Max,ZBrush,Maya. Me personally I started with Cinema 4D its the esiest of all(for me!) after you learn a little bit of that programm it wouldn't be so hard to learn the others except Zbrush because its very powerfull and a little hard to learn.(ZBrush is for character Design bassicly, and you can make a VERY detailed character)
hang on 1 sec ther missy you still need uv mapping because how are you meant to get a great depth of deatail easly in a certain area of your 3d modle with out a flat uv map texture space to work on in my opinion you still need a uv map how ever for applying dirt and scratchs etc painting in 3d is the best way to go but i dont see uv mapping ever being abolished by this and im sure most 3d modelers like myself (maya 3d modeler) would agree
This is true. Even if Photoshop has a built-in system like Max does for automatically UVWing a model, it's probably no better, and prone to A. wasting a lot of texture space (myself, I always try for MORE than 100% efficiency, when possible), and B. creating seams where there shouldn't be any.
I hope I live to see the day where this can be automated. But I'd also like to see a better mouse trap.
i hate that u have to flick between those programs though... fair wenough if your a c4d user, but i'd like to do all my 3d in max, all my texturing in photoshop. wud make my life easier
I would have to disagree with you. Modo, just as an example is a much better alternative to something like Lightwave or even Maya, when you learn how to use it.
Thank you for reading from a script and not giving a step by step. I will never get that 2 minutes of my life back...

Tremendous higher 3D performance. Still, pretty slow. I can barely see low poly objects in my canvas.

3d Picture? Get a 3D model and Photoshop EXTENDED and open it (with photoshop of course). You will be able to paint on it then.

I do alot of work on Maya :-)
and I completely agree with you
without a UV map unwrapped succesfully the colour scheme would be all over the place
however the idea to paint directly onto the
3dmodel is still pretty cool, but unreliable if you have a poor uv map :-/
seeing as how all 3dmodels have a uv map, its just as important as modeling
you need to unwrap what you created inorder to put a great amount of detail and symetry
working on 2d scale is much simpler
and yeilds better results

Lightwave, Softimage XSI, Autodesk 3ds Max & Maya are the only 3D apps worth the time learning.

Cinema 4D
Of course with C4D's native Bodypaint, I don't know if there would be reason enough to export models to CS4 for painting...
...which brings up the question I had:
How do the new CS4 tools compare to programs like Bodypaint or ZBrush?
