  • Nice Playing Pete!

  • that aint no gospel style

  • that aint no gospel style i am a true penacostal saint and i know actual preaching praising chords

  • omg......your good for a white man....i like the souund

  • Pete, great to see you at the Southampton Jazz club with JimM a while back. Pete, did you know that the later firmware for the Vent enables the virtual horns to stop facing the mics, eliminating that random stop factor (reduced top). Guido could update your Vent if you have the original version (some players perfer to have the random stop though). I have the later type now :) Hope to see you at the club again sometime soon :)

Dave... PS. I just scored a Leslie 145 to go with my A-100 ;-)

  • @Jammoko Thanks, Dave. Although it would be useful to have the modified "stop" version, I'd rather not be without my Ventilator for long because I use it on the majority of gigs.... Congrats on your 145!

  • Thanks for posting this vid. I bought a Neo because of it about a year ago and have been over the moon with it. I was a real snob - hated the Rotosphere, even the Motion Sound and newer Leslie real rotary cabs but this thing nails it. Gig with a split A100, a Ventilator and two Mackie 10s and it is the best sound I have ever had. Lovely playing, by the way - do you teach? I'm in Kingston, Surrey.

  • @robmillis Thanks for the kind words... If you'd like a lesson, send me a private message with your email address. I'm in NW London.

  • wonderful warm sound. don't ever stop brother!

  • Hello you are a great player I have a concord and was wondering what drawbarsettings are used for Booker T and Jimmy Smith style? Thank you

  • Well I can't comment on the Hammond Suzuki stuff, but I do own a Nord C1 which I use the Ventilator with. I prefer the Ventilator to the internal Nord C1 simulator. It's significantly better than the Electro's simulator too (which was a generation or so behind the C1). I've read positive reports from Hammond XK users too. I don't think you'll be disappointed. Remember that high-quality full-range amplification is a must for live use.

  • Thanks for your comments. You say using amplifcation is must, why is this? I usually gig with in ear monitors and send the signal from my DI box to the desk. If I do this will it effect the Ventilator's quality?

  • @RobPope That will be ideal. I merely meant that plugging the Ventilator into an average instrument amp will yield mediocre results... DI into a decent house PA, and in-ear monitors would be great, I would imagine.

  • @b3pete . Thanks again for getting back to me. I think i'm definatley going to invest in one.

  • Hi, great playing! I was just wondering if the ventilator's sim is better or on par with the Nord Sim's on their Organ sounds? I own both a Hammond XK1 and a Nord electro 2. I prefer the tone of the XK1 but the Leslie sim sucks, where as the tone of the Nord isnt amazing, but the Leslie sim is great. I'm Hoping to get a Ventilator soon to go with my Hammond, but I'm frightened it wont be as good as the Nords sim and be a waste of money. What do you think? I'd very much appreciate you're opinion.

  • Make It TALK SIR!!!

  • That has to be one of the best sounding Hammonds Ive heard in a long, long time. Niiicely done, and decent sim too. Worth the price tag of £450?

  • Was this recorded directly from the line out or from the actual room from a speaker? I've sure thats where the real test would be in order to be convinced to drop $550+ US on a rotary simulation. Nice playing however, far more better than Leslies product demos.

  • Recorded line outs from Vent direct into computer. No mics sued. As stated, a little EQ and reverb added but that's it.

  • @b3pete Awesome playing man, and that sound, simply pure hardcore soul. Can I ask what drawbar setting you are using for that passage after 0:26? If it's a preset, would you mind telling me what drawbars the preset activates? Cheers man

  • If Possible could you post a vid with the set up and a vid playing a gospel song without the extra chorus and vibrato? Most Gospel players would agree that we love the raw sound of the hammond coming the leslie it self nad it would help to get a better picture of how the vent really sounds with just raw tone-wheel running through it

  • I intend to post a few more vids, but I'm really busy at the moment. (BTW I don't work for Neo instruments in any way.) I'm really a jazz player rather than a Gospel organist, so I guess that influences the sound I go for. When I have the time I'll record a few more clips with different sounds soon though and will include stuff with the rotors stopped, and without vibrato chorus.

  • just picked a vent , amazing machine , sounds great on stage

  • What does it mean leslie Simulator what does it do, can this be hooked up to any hammond c model?

  • It's like an effects pedal (for guitar/keyboards). I had to add a line out socket to my C3. Simple modification.... I found the details on the internet somewhere.

  • @b3pete I'm putting a line out on my A-143, and one on my M-143. Going to order a Ventilator today!!

  • Yup... nice soulful playing Pete, and the Vent sounds great (I still like those big swirly things though! :) ) Hows Nigel? ;-)

    DaveH

  • Thanks Dave. Nigel's fine. We're playing at the Eagle Tavern, Rochester this Sunday lunchtime (7nd Feb).

  • Can breadown those fist chords you were playing they are amazing

  • Love listening to this, and am I glad I bought a Vent. Put me down for some lessons!!!!

  • Yes Ventilator's great. I did a gig at The Pizza Express Jazz Club the other day, and used the Vent with my Nord C1. By all accounts it sounded fine. It's a very "dry" stage with much bass trapping, so the reflected elements that a real Leslie provides aren't so missing in this kind of environment. In the past I've taken my Leslie down there, but I was so pleased with the DI'd Vent that I'll use it again down there. Regarding lessons, do get in touch! Cheers.

  • Yep, that's sweet gospel-type splaying! Is this a vintage C3 or a New C3?

Sounds absolutely gorgeous anyway! I love both: the slow chorale and the fast tremolo. Very soulful sound!

  • Thanks. It's a mid-60s C-3 which I've owned for some time.

  • I haven't heard of this brand before but it sounds good. I have a simulator connected to one of my organs and it is good to be able to record directly to the mixing board without worrying about white noise nor other background noise, and still have the Leslie sound!

  • Fabulous.

Lovely playing, great organ, and wow, the Ventilator..amazing simulator
