Lyrics by the ethereal Ms. Nicks, music credited to the rest of the band...clearly, after all these years, Nicks and Buckingham sing to each other...it is hard to forget that "one" in your life....others may come and go but you never forget that "one"...:/
Both McVie's were under-mic'd in the mix, Lindsey is so sped he can barely keep his guitar on, Christine keeps looking half-lidded like "Wow, what a pack of freaks I work with," Stevie is close to exploding from tragic stress, and Mick is, well, Mick is totally living in his drums as if oblivious to the planet as usual... and yet the end result is: TOTAL AWESOME!
By the way: from 3:03-3:07, Lindsay isn't singing "If you do not love me now..."; he's simply telling Stevie, "Oh, hell no, bitch...it's on!" And Stevie stands her ground; the furious, glazed-over look in her eyes is one of "You can kiss my lily-white ass!"
Lindsey got voted 100th on the Rolling Stone top 100 this time around! I guess the voters never saw this performance(or any) by Lindsey! F Rolling Stone!!!
Look, everyone, you are making too much of the way Lindsey is acting here. This is Lindsey, he has always been kind of hyper and add coke to that (NOT Redbull!), and this is what you get. Also, remember that this was their first performance in some time, and also the 1st song of this concert, so he was kind of hyped as well as trying to hype the audience. I have seen FM in concert and they are phenomenal.
@weirdguy75 Just see above, dude. It's called a totally hyper Lindsey made more hyper by cocaine use. There it is, plain and simple, no Redbull about it. There WAS not Redbull back then anyway. Cocaine all the way around....
@junerose621 Clearly you need to learn to read. I was being sracastic towards yossarian22athome for making the redbull reference. I'm full aware the magic powder fueled Lindsey's performance. Don't fucking atack me without knowing what you're talking about! I fucking love FM
@weirdguy75 Glad you do, dude. Am sorry if it sounded like an attack. It was not meant to. I did not read what some idiot wrote that you were bashing. I don't even see "yossarian", don't care to. Anyone who loves Mac is cool with me. Peace. ♥
@yossarian22athome OMG, another idiot. biglindseyfan77, you need to delete the inappropriate comments. Fleetwood Mac is too classic for this childish crap.
That my friends is why us old farts scoff at studio performances. 20 takes to get it right and only then it is still mediocre. But a live performance when the moon and stars all line up just right, and everyone is on their "A" game?
This is fucking EPIC!!! To everyone caught up their drug use: These songs wouldn't have been created without the help of drugs. His voice isn't ab to crack bc of drugs. It pure emotion. Maybe, you've never felt something so strong that it make you scream in torment. It takes fucking guts to expose yourself the way they do! Respect there emotion and talent. It's a blessing.
Strange. They also sound better live than recorded. Usually, it's the opposite and the venue atmosphere compensates for the sound. Great tune! You can feel it.
just freaking awesome....and did it really ruin your life that lindsey may or may not have been on drugs in this video...who cares...listen to the performance...he abused that guitar
must have been hard for Christine to keep up with harmonies when S & L were in this kind of mood - not really knowing where they were going as they were so passionately in synch with each other
I'm not one to critique rock music with any authority, but thias has to be the most intensely passionate versions of any song I've ever seen. Even more intense knowing the history of the singers. And who cares if they were off their heads on marching powder? Nobody would say anything if they'd skulled a bottle of JD before a performance.
I think Lindsey is singing this so pasionately because he is raw and means every word of it. He was completely bent out of shape over his relationship with Stevie.
Oh I used to have this concert on video....was broadcast on MTV....but my sister recorded some TV show over it....dang habit of forgetting to remove the record protection clip!!!
Sad. Two of my favorite writers and singers, brilliant, but so jacked up on coke, clenching and straining and pushing their voices, that they destroy the mood of this beautiful tune. People say smack is bad for you, and they have a point, but you can sustain a serious dope habit and still play and sing, much better than these shrieking banshee cokeheads can manage. Shut it off!
You just see that tension between stevie and Lindsey in this and it shows through the music in the best way possible. Man what a fucking bunch of musicians people wont see anything like that again
@bryt12693 Especially as long as people are blinded by wanna be talentless shits of today's generation. It's sad but true. People who are so ignorantly retarded that they snub the beatles for Justina Beaver must be shot, Idiots who compare Jay Z to Elton John must be hung, and re re's who prefer Avril Lavigne over Lindsey fucking Buckingham must die in some painful manner.
@bryt12693 It isn't just romantic tension, Lindsey and Stevie are singers and performers of the highest degree - get them on stage together and fireworks will happen! I agree, we'll never see music like this again - sad to say.
@rebventures - this song was NOT written by LIndsey to Stevie. It was written, in parts, by all the band members but mostly Stevie and Lindsey wrote the music to it. Stevie had actually started it off and Chris and Lindsey put their parts to it. This is heavily documented.
i tell you from seeing Lyndsey from the 3rd row for the oakland concert just before this was a life changing experience. They truely Rock and Rule! Love that Welch Witch but never new they we all so awesome!
The tension was palpable btw Stevie and Lindsey, and it's almost as if Christine is trying to keep them singing instead of ravaging each other, either angrily or sexually or, most probably, both at the same time.
@capnkirk102 I'm with you on this one. I can't tell if they (Lindsey/Stevie) want to fuck each other or simply tell each other to go fuck themselves. Whatever the case, this performance was, without doubt, a meltdown. They're not playing their instruments; they're forcefully humping them, while Stevie is turning into a banshee before the crowd's eyes. Simply brilliant.
"Lindsey. What happened when you asked Satan for your guitar skills?"
"I got the skills, but I had to snort so much blow that I couldn't sing any more, only force out a thin piercing shriek, and bounce around the stage doing the pogo and shaking like an epileptic. I'm starting to think Jimmy Page had it right with the junk. He could play like a monster, and he didn't have to make a jerking, twitching embarrassment out of himself in front of thousands of people."
@TheKingOfSkiffle Seems like you're comparing two completely different bands, and two types of guitar playing. Satan, of course, being the alternate name Jimmy Page likes to go under.
Can't stop playing this on repeat, especially the amazing improvised solo. This performance definately shows how this song meant something pretty special between Buckingham and Nicks. Pure emotion and power in this song.
