DAZ Studio 4.0 - My Stuff Files (Renamed Smart Content)

Earlier on, just before I started using the program, I opened this tutorial. After 1 minute I thought, "Ahh nevermind, I will figure it out myself"...I came back for help to figure it out 'on my own'.

I've "installed" a few models (Victoria, Michael) but not matter what I move around, try to open, or un/reinstall, I can't get DAZ3D to even see that it's there. I really wish this video addressed this problem instead of just outlining what you can already see in the program.

With the program CLOSED, install what you want to the folder "C:\Users\YOUR_USER_NAME\Docum­ents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My Library". Only then start the program, and look again in the Library.

I went to content library than I went through my folders and highlighted the stuff I installed and told it to go to the 'smart (my ass) content' It kind of worked.

This video is useful ONLY if you've purchased the files that comes with metadata after DAZ 4 was released. I have 168 gigs worth of content that DAZ4 will not let me use after 5 days of scouring the internet and emailing DazStudio for help and constantly running into roadblocks or apathetic Daz Members, so if anyone out there is considering shelling out all the money I did for Daz 4, keep it! Not worth it! Epic fail on D/S's part!

@oldwaysmusic I'm currently with you on this one 100% percent! You'd THINK they'd make the program more universal. It would certainly be better financially for them AND for us. I'm sitting here at a loss on what to do for my income because my DAZ3 is broken and DAZ4 is the utter crap. I used to love DAZ. I'm beginning to HATE IT.

Daz content management is STILL epic fail. That entire right panel he's showing is a decoy that only loads the default content. Your ACTUAL content will load through Content Library tab on the right side, which is HIDDEN by default! Spent an hour re-installing content before I dug that little factoid out of the internet. This is a beginner's app which requires a doctorate in computer science just to reverse engineer the screwed up logic of its designers.

SOLUTION, i installed DAZ like 15 times, but the last time the install went without errors pauses or problems, it lasted much longer then other installs but when i started everythink worked!! its an installer problem ppl

The important sentence here is:

"This whole process (means: clicking through your runtime searching your content) goes away once we have meta data for all your content"

well,... "once" is the keyword. We wont get all the meta data for our stuff from R`osity, R´otica., RDNA, etc... We even wont get meta data for older DAZ3D stuff.

This thingy is kinda useless, if you have tons of runtime stuff already (for me its over the years up to 150 Gb)

My Files and Product - Tab is empty.

Content appears only when i change the Lyout to "City Limits". The Content is then in the Content Library.

This would be great... if it supported all my old content as well. As it seems to be limited to the Genesis figure, it's of no use when you want to continue using existing Victoria or Michael materials or clothes.

@swdavis1682 Again I'm brand new but for me, Genesis (human model) is preloaded when I open Daz. I can see Accessories, Hair etc. and clicking on one of the categories puts thumbnails of that in the File section of My Stuff. If you have nothing there (no model?), try File- Open- My Library - People- Genesis- Genesis.dsf and then it should come up with its options. You can also download more content on the Daz website, and find it via the Content Library tab (once it's installed in content).

@nahid0m I'm brand new to this but from the file menu you can try Window - Workspace - Select Layout- Hollywood Blvd- Apply. That is the standard layout from the tutorial, and the My Stuff and Shaping tabs are vertical to the left of the model. Sorry if that doesn't work, that's my only idea at the moment.

Thanks for addressing this issue. It is what I've found most frustrating about using Daz Products for years. I'm just starting with Ver. 4. I hope it works. I realize it's not an easy problem to solve.

Yes, but, where the heck ARE my files from DAZ 3? During installation DAZ 4 said it found all my DAZ and Poser files, but there's no way to find them. Where did they go? How do I access them?

@SquallLion59 Hope this helps. Select the Content Library tag then click on the little icon to the top right of the content tab then select Cotent DB maintenance and tick Re import metadata then go ahead and let te program import it everything should be OK.

Do products bought from the DAZ Store prior to the release of DAZ Studio 4 allready have metadata?

Will all the content bought prior to to the release of DAZ Studio 4 somehow be updated to also show up in the "My Stuff" "Files" and "Products" Tab?
