I'm just scouting videos trying to find one that can help me distinguish the half-3rd tone from the 4th tone. I can't tell the difference and it's really bothering me. Can someone on this page help me with that? Any tips for distinguishing the two from another?
One of the absolute best teachers of Mandarin Chinese I've seen on the Internet - thank you sooooo much for all of your videos! They are extremely beneficial and you are an awesome awesome teacher!!

@Seedofwinter The third tone is longer. 1- write a big "V" on a piece of paper.
2- Put your finger at the top of where you first put down the pen to start writing.
3-Take a deep breath
4-make the sound following the movement of your finger- on the V. So it should sound start Up-down-up again. loonnng
OR
ambulance siren slowly = 3rd tone.
4th: like when you go behind someone and say:HA! ( very short)
Good luck- but pratice!
