  • Got to this video by trying to find out what Barry Mason was going to be up to at Gaunts House Gathering this year! Wow...what a totally amazing sound!!

  • Hey, Soul you play well, sound Good Man!!!how can I get one???

I am in the States, again I love the feeling of the sound, I wonder how it would be to play 3 at the same time, I am in love with the sound, I am a drummer and anything i can get my hands on to paint with sound I will try...........................Take care

  • Beautiful! thanks so much for sharing... i want to play! :D

  • is there any way you know of that I could contact these two people in Switzerland? Do they have a company with a #, mailing address, or an email u kno of, anything? : D!?

  • I know they're making millions already, but if these guys, in Switzerland, sold rights and secrets of their making of hang drums, .... we're looking at a buuuutt load of money! lol!

  • all day..hihi

  • absolutly amazing:)

Really is an a amazing display of the possibility of this beautiful instrument. Without the cost issue I'd be spending all day on one of these.

    Thanks for the great vid!

  • Hey, beyond words.. Went to the Hanghaus last summer, waiting for a Hang now. Really glad someone like you got one ! Pierre

  • Really enjoyed listening to that Mark. Gets better as it goes on... :)

    Peace & Blessings x

  • Ok this is my new favorite thing. I MUST have one of these! God it's so beautiful sounding.

  • Such a beautiful tranced-out deep connected playing. Dude, Mark. You inspire. Heart and crown buzzing. Thank you.

  • so where can you pick these up at even if they are rare you should be able to purchase them

TEAM ALEX join us...if your not with us your against us

    stuckinconnell/TEAM ALEX...we resist arrest

  • From what I've found, they are only made by two people in Switzerland with a waiting list at a cost of 1500 dollars US.

  • im like totally tripping

  • Amaizing instrument... I plat the g an the trumpet myself, but I think that's better... I want a hang drum...

  • very nice playing I must say.. and also very nice room deco :)

  • i would like to know... i play guitar, but i really want to buy a hangdrum... my only concern is, how much is ther to do on it? cause with guitar there is endless possibilites, and obviously the hangdrum does not have that, but is it something that could get boring possibly? as in lack of new ways to play, or new tunes it sems to me, that eventually it'll seem like you've played everything you can... is this true?

  • at least 1000$

  • i never asked for a price...

  • You make it sound like musical instruments are such limited commodities.

It's all about what you do with an instrument individually. Not about what instrument has supposedly "more possibilities".

Go for it if you want to explore a new instrumental texture, which the hang will definitely inspire.

  • Look at it like a piano.... Same principle when it comes to versatility.

  • It is very versatile. There are many many techniques to playing the hang drum. It is such a new instrument, how could there not be a possibility of new styles just waiting to discovered?

  • hmmm... never thought of it like that... since no new popular instruments have come out since i was born 18 years ago, almost every possibility of techniques and styles are already being played... so it was natural i though the same for this... but i love the thought of buying a fairly new thing and creating new stuff of my own XD...

    thanks all four of you

  • No disrespect whatsoever, but you have a very limited usage of your hands. I wish I could show you all of the tools your hands can produce. You should try your knuckles at all digit joints mixed with hand slides, combined with flurries of rapid multi finger rolls and so many other wonderful sounds created by different areas of the hand, palm and wrist. But your use of thumb sides and finger tapping is kind of neat I guess.

  • thanks for your comment, i do however use all of the above. i play to how i feel, so depends on the segment im playing, keep an eye on some more ill be uploading soon. There are countless techniques to playing the hang and those techniques are imposed when the time ans moment is right, again, thank you for your comment

  • What scale do you have yours tuned to?

  • my favorite thing about the drums is how they sound more like wind chimes and less like a steel drum. too bad i'm in no financial shape to buy one. especially if that requires flying to the EU. :(

  • "only 5000 made" !!! That is a LOT! And if these sell for, say, $1000 each that means the makers have made $5 million dollars from this....and I've heard these sell for over $3000!!

  • felix and sabina DO NOT sell there hang on ebay, ebay sales are solely the owners. only 2 people make these hang by hand, felix and sabina, so there is over a year waiting list to purchase one from them and they are sold for approx $600 euros and you have to fly to switzerland to their workshop (not a factory). hence the rarety and beauty of much loved work into these wanderfull instruments

  • and 5000 have been made over 7 year perod, starting in 2000. when you play a hang it isnt just its wanderfull sound but the patience and love that goes into tuning the hang from sabina and felix echoes through

  • Yes...I too love the sound of the hang drum and will be getting one....I didn't know that they sell for only 600 Euros...I thought they charge different amounts to different people (like if you look rich = sell for more)? But still they made millions on this, which is NOT SHABBY!

  • Millions of dollars by a US company a few years ago but declined the offer in fear that the instrument would become mass produced by machines losing its true sound to the hand tuning they do.

  • No they certainly havent made millions, 600 euros is an estimat, i think the true value is about 800, they only make two of these instruments a day and over a very short period as the rest of there time goes in to future research and development. So what money they do make goes back into the instrument. They certainly arent rich and still work from a small home studio in Bern. They have been offered

  • Most meditative sound ever...I cannot wait till they are available to whomever would like one!

  • Transandantal man, It liberates my mind. :-)

  • I can relate to you having not played an instrument before. So, I take it one does not need formal music lessons to play or even know the music scales and notes? Becuase I may like to get one but I niether know music theory nor about notes.

  • do you have to buy them tuned to pitch?

  • you used to be able to get them tuned to your desire, but now you are booked an appointment, which is up to a year wait on there terms, you spend a night there and try a few dozen Hang that are lined up and the one that connects with you is yours to take home. :)

  • how much are hang drums?

  • Hi all, CD is schedualed for release at the end of november 2007, just intime for christmas. Mark
