I think anelka is amazingly over-rated, he played the whole season ( like without a major injury ) with a good creative chelsea team, and only manages 19 premier leage. thats crap. And there was maybe 5 i would say are good goal, last goal of the season for him was good, screamer. If they had drogba, or a decent striker, the striker would have got around 25-30. Everyone always forgets that he had a difficult time dealing with the surprising success he had in the late 1990s when he was still 19. I think he should have weathered that 30 million euro transfer to real madrid more carefully. I also think Houllier made a mistake in 2002 when he refused to sign him. That was just the type of club that Anelka was looking to come back to, and now he has that chance again with Chelsea. But you're not as optimistic at 29 than you are at 23.

I do have to agree with someone's early comment that had houllier signed anelka at liverpool, than both the team and the player's fortunes may have been different. Everyone knows that liverpool were always missing those few select players to finish the touch. I think a strike partnership between anelka and owen for a couple years would have brought a lot of rewards for liverpool before benitez took over. And quite frankly, I think France would have had more true strikers for Euro 04 and WC 06.

arsenal in crisis? did you watch the game??? their first goal was meters OFFSIDES and yet the ref didn't see it. it would have been a draw, if that. maybe that first offside goal won't have given them confidence to score again.
also, newcastle.. when you play 10 on defense and you came to draw, there is going to be a tough time scoring.

it's because scolari is constantly playing the same system. it works against the lower teams. the bigger teams analyze it better and they know they have to put the pressure on the holder (mikel) and prevent the wingbacks getting forward.
also, keep in mind that chelsea for most of the season were constantly changing lineups due to injuries and suspensions.
now drogba is back, i think scolari will change systems. anelka and drogba were teaming up very nicely today against cluj.

United: Played a good game,managed to score first but we pulled one back, not unexpectedly.
Scouse: Did not F us up, nowhere close to it. They got a deflected goal early on and managed to hang on to it.
Spurs: An unfortunate pass from Lampard to the opposition lead to this draw. Quite flukey.

Liverpool fan here. Chelsea is a good team, should have won the Champions League against Manchester United this year. But after the departure of Jose Mourinho and Avram Grant and hiring of Luiz Felipe Scolari was a mistake. Plus it maybe a deflected that Liverpool defeated Chelsea in at Stamford Bridge this season, but Chelsea fired blank shots in response and Liverpool almost scored the second. But still, you have a good chance at winning the EPL and Champions League as good as Liverpool.
