  • i have the c1 xxx its awesome too... pretty much the same except stripper inlays...

  • @1986dr3w The XXX had a rose wood fretboard and duncan passives. The Jolly Roger has an ebony fretboard and EMGz. Not quite the same. I have seen several XXX's in guitar center. For some reason, the build quality didn't seem as nice as Jolly Roger. I think they did a larger run of the XXX, where they only did like 100, or 150 of the Jolly Roger. In my experience, the limited runs generally have better build quality than the regular runs. My Jolly Roger is one of the best built six strings

  • i am not worthy of tough awesomeness at metalcore riffige

  • Man i love your guiat. Wish I had one. But, what case is your amp head in?

  • @MusicFan479 Thanks. My amp head is in a custom made angstrom case.

  • hey bro sick review.

How's the Neck on this thing? I'm use to playing my Ibanez Wizard neck :P on my RG1570.. so I'm use to some CRAZY thin neck.. but I want to get a guitar with more sustain and whatnot with the body and strings, coz I'm playing alot of Deathmetal and Metalcore and just crazy dropped stuff...

in your experience, how is the neck on this bad boy? I'm also looking at the Jackson SLSMG, but am a bit worried coz it's damn light haha.

  • @SUPitsDave IOC you can find this guitar, but it. It was part of a limited run and it's awesome. The neck isn't Ibanez thin, but it's not like a baseball bat.

  • What amp Line 6 amp is that??

  • @JessyDevilVendetta Line 6 HD147...Just like I say in the video.

  • @DarkKnight369 O okay thax bro, that thing sounds sick as fuck for a digital amp XD. Yeah i know but i couldent make out what you said XD

  • @JessyDevilVendetta Thanks dude. It can hold its own against tube amps. It has a nice mid range punch...at least my setup does. The OD stomp in front of the amp along with the EQ and BBE I have in the loop really open this thing up.

  • Hi darknight do you find that your Line 6 hd147 tends to work best with Celestion v30 loaded cabinets?

  • It will work just fine but its not ideal. Line 6 used to have the "Vetta Cabinet". It was loaded with custom celestion speakers that have a flat EQ response. The reason being is that HD147 and Vetta have cabinet modeling which will change the EQ of the speaker. This won't work as well with v30's as they are already coloring the tone. Once Line 6 came out with the Spider Valve, they stopped making the Vetta cab. Stupid if you ask me, as the SV cab only handles 240 watts.

  • @DarkKnight369 cool man thanks im building my own custom cab kinda an oversize Mesa recto but with some mods to it.Thanks man im gonna look for a flatter responsed speakers to throw in it

  • First off, no need to post 3-4 comments. I have to approve them before they show up. FYI...its to keep the youtube hater trolls at bay.

I think I have heard good things about Celestion CL80's with Line 6 stuff. Also, I have heard great things about Vader cabs with the HD147. They have Eminence speakers, you might want to check those out. Just make sure you set up the cab to run in stereo at 4ohms or you will never get the full 300 watt power.

  • Hey are you schecterholic from the schecterforums?

  • No, I am Darkknight369 from the Schecter forums...the admin who banned Schecteraholic. You would recognize him, he has tattoos on his face.

  • Haha im just kidding man, its c1architect here,i want one of those guitar so bad .

  • Yeah, they are sweet guitars. They pop up on ebay every now and again.

  • Sucks to be from the uk sometimes.

  • when you started playing it reminded me alot of some riffs from ISMFOF, great playing and review, i subbed

  • Please start your own project 0.o

Drum programs, recording gear, make music, put up for downlaod or myspace ;p

  • Its been on my to do list. While I do have the capabilities to record right now, I do not have a drum program. Once I get the time, I hope to get something going.

  • Can you do vocals? or somewhat?

  • I am not a singer by any means. I can scream though, and I also know a couple of singers I could always collaborate with as well.

  • Nice tags haha. Chug a lug a lug

  • Hey Dave...as much money as you have invested in your rig and guitars...and as many videos as you have posted on YToob...why in the heck haven't you bought a decent interface device so you could make a high quality recording?

A little Line 6 USB interface (a UX-2 is $200) and a couple of decent mics (like two SM-57s) running into your PC and recorded with Reaper would give you GREAT audio quality in stereo. You would be blown away by the sound and your demos would sound SO much better.

  • I guess I am just lazy. I own a Line 6 UX2, a pair of XLR cables, and 1 Shure SM57. My head also has stereo direct outs. When I did these I was always in a hurry and it was just easier to use the laptop mic. In addition to that, I switched to a Mac a little over a year ago and I just never installed everything on it yet. So that was and extra step I was too lazy to deal with.

  • Wow. So you already have all the gear you need to really do this right?

I must admit, I'm a bit disappointed. I would really like to hear a more accurate representation of what this amp is capable of.

  • So sorry to disappoint you. lol.

Next video I do I will try and get some better audio going.

  • I'm not trying to be a smart aleck bro. It's just that there are precious few reviews of the HD147 on YouToob. And what few reviews there are generally sound ass. So it's really hard to get an idea of what them amp sounds like. Which is odd because, like all Line 6 amps, it's optimized for recording work.

  • I know. Even with me recording the audio better, you still have the youtube compression to deal with. Mics can color the tone too. SM57's seems to darken tone a bit, direct outs would probably be closer.

  • Hey buddy, what are those chords you play at 3:28 called?

I recognize that sound, lots of metal bands use them...especially those deathcore bands in their breakdowns.

  • I always referred to them as dissonant chords, which might be a bit too general. They probably have more technical names, but I will be damned if I know it.

Basically, what I am playing at 3:28 is like an octave. So I am holding a note with my index finger, and with my ring finger I am holding what would be the octave 2 steps higher, 2 strings down. Since its on the high A string in my drop C tuning (2nd string), its a half step down or flat from where the octave would be.

  • So essentially, if you wanted to play chords like that, the formula is pretty simple. Go to hold a power chord, and instead of holding the fifth, octave, or both, just shift those a half step down (flat).

Hope that makes sense. Maybe someone could explain it better. I know how it works and will sound in my head, I just lack on the music theory technical explanation for it.

  • well if you would learn some basic theory both of you would know that those are diminished chords. not being a prick but thats the only chord in a key that would not be a minor or major chord. pretty simple stuff. to solo over them you can use maybe the harmonic minor scale or one of its modes, or the diminished scales that are hard to use. cool stuff! do some work now.

  • Yeah, I haven't kept up with my theory knowledge. The little I learned was when I took lessons, which was a bout 10 years ago. I didn't stick with it much.

  • its cool. i might have come across as an ass, but i wasnt trying to. i actually think you are pretty good. i like the sound of your settings on the hd147. thats the amp i use too. what settings are you using to get your basic sound through it?

  • If I thought you were being an ass I would have deleted your comment and blocked you. That is what I do with the Youtube haters, I don't even waste my time.

I use the big bottom setting. I forget the actual settings, but I think the gain is somewhere around 75%, and mids are probably about 60%-70%. I use compression, a little bit of chours, and the V-30 loaded cab model with the Sennheiser 421 mic sim. Much more goes into my tone though, like the BBE, OD, and EQ.

  • good video, like always.

  • Thanks!

  • Sorry i didnt really hear what you said i just listed to your playing !:-))

  • Great review ! What amp do you have ? Is it line 6 as the cab ?

  • As I said in my video, its a Line 6 HD147 with the Vetta II cab that they no longer make.

  • Dude Schecter should hire you as a guitar Reveiwer.

  • Schecter should sponsor him!

  • Schecter has to be the most under noticed of the guitar companies making high quality guitars that are really smartly priced. You should try to get your hands on the Schecter Tempest Classic. It's a Les Paul killer.

  • Agreed. The tempest is nice, but I am usually not a fan of 24.75" scale guitars. I have my eye on the solo 6 though, that is a nice looking guitar.

If you haven't checked it out yet, take a look at the Schecter forum. I am one of the admins over there.

  • Right arm... sounds amazing.. I just bought a Blackjack ATX FR because of your other videos.. Cheers dude.. and thanks for the reviews.. That is a really nice c-1

  • Glad to hear it! Thanks!
