@Donald6899 how many morons do I have to tell this too? Are you that stupid and illiterate that you can't read what happened? THERE ARE TWO DIFFERENT SPIDERS. THE ONE IN THE VIDEO AND THE ONE THAT BURROWED INTO THE CACTUS AND HOLLOWED IT OUT. How you come to the conclusion that the spider that hollowed out a cactus is not damaging the cactus is a demonstration in your ability to be stupid.
Wow this spider was really fast at making this web much faster thin i seen on others uploads its productive skills are awesome. but you have to wonder how complex yet simple the engineering of web making is. Spiders are not smart but it's built in impulse to engineer "to survive" is mind boggling! It all starts with pure simple primal impulse. Build-eat-mate
@DXDJ not at all. the web was perfect when it was finished, and we left it alone. However by morning it was completely wrecked with about 20 carcasses of the spiders captures caught in the web. Its an amazingly effective system that the spiders have developed.
Wow... I'm amazed at the quality of this video... You can see alot of the details. Best video I seen so far. My only disappointment is that I was not able to view the whole process, but still an awesome video.
I'm sorry to say, but I disagree with you completely. Spiders really don't kill plants. All the do is they like to use them as hiding spots. That does include inheriting a burrow from other bugs. Spiders, especially these kind (araneus) loves to eat bugs that harm plants, specifically grasshoppers, and japanese beetles.
Nice video. Although I didn't think spiders killed plants? In fact they're useful in getting rid of pests which would otherwise be infesting your plants.
hmm seems like a huge web! wow!

why do folks keep repeating this? are you folks brain dead? Its all explained in the video and even here. Are your attention spans that small?

it was just being at the right place (well our porch) at the right time. The web was 3 feet from the door to our kitchen.
by morning it was mostly destroyed, with about 20 insect bodies caught in it.

amazing! I have a terrible fear of spiders but I do admire the beauty of what they do.

A spider (not this spider) had burrowed into a delicate cactus plant to make its home, we tried to remove it and re-locate it, but it didn't work.
