i love this piece very much my mom use to play that also & my mother is a pianist geart great pianist and she wants to meet you someday. you are my mom's idol.. thank you jim chappell im practicing that piece.. keep it up!
Definitely one of my favorites, if not my favorite, of Jim's pieces. I first heard it on cassette tape, from his album, Dusk, from the early '90's. Very relaxing, soothing, and peaceful. One of Jim's best songs!! So cool to see him play it live...makes it even more intimate!!
A very touching piece. He composed it after a pet kitten they had, named 'Lenny'. The kitten has a rare type of blood disease that cannot be cured. They decided to put him to sleep after the medications proved useless.
This story reminds me of another beautiful piece dedicated to a pet, the song 'Ben' by Michael Jackson.
Going back, what I like about this piece is the sense of hope it evokes near the end of the piece. Reminds me that when a door closes, another one opens.
came to learn and love this piece by watching a weekly drama series and it just became a part of me. this is one of the most emotion-filled pieces of all time. you don't need lyrics to know what jim wanted to convey.
@imarkee Hi and thanks much for your post..Could you tell me the name of the weekly drama series you are talking about and where it is broadcast? Thanks much!
@TheJimChappell hi Mr. Jim! the weekly drama series is "Maala-ala mo kaya" (will you remember it from time to time, Lol i'm not sure for correct translation), it's being aired in Manila, philippines every wednesday night PH time. i don't know if it's still being aired because i haven't watch tv for a long time, but wayback '90s it's a primetime show. i'm a guitarist but i forced myself to learn this song in piano by ear
...Y cuando al final te hayas marchado para siempre que me quede, al menos de tu mirada, el profundo negro de tus ojos antes de bajar la vista para decirme que no te mirara de esa manera y entonces rieras....
If you're looking for the album, the album is titled "DUSK" by Jim Chappell... I think it's the second track on the album.... you should also listen to the fifth track, "Heart Song" another great music by Jim chappell.
I remembered the first time I heard "Gone", I cried from the pure beauty of this composition...over 10 yrs ago. It has remained as my #1 favorite instrumental, #2 Somewhere in Time by John Barry & #3 The Silk Road by KItaro.
This song is truly a masterpiece and I don't know how many times I've listened to it over the years...too many and I still love it !
Same here.... I got so emotional when I first heard this music.... I was working in a hotel when the musician played this music. I waited for him to finish and asked him what's the title and who played the original.... that was wayback 1990's. It's still my all-time favorite music.
he's a genius.. it's almost like every keys are words that pinch my heart. he really has the superb skill of portraying feelings into notes and making it sound b-e-a-u...tiful..
the music is nice, yet so sad also. everytime i hear this song i always remember my late grandmother... Lola lydia.. :'(
