  • Here's a collab. idea: Townsend, Rudess, Tony Levin, Phil Collins

    "The Baldies"

  • I wish Rudess would play with Wilson and Akerfeldt on the "Storm Corrosion" project.

  • They are gods

moreover, Jordan Rudess is checking his mails while playing :P

  • four chords that made a million

  • did steven wrote that song with jordan, or richard?

  • @ryonafan He wrote it on his own.

  • Rudess is a traitor.

  • @MlKEPORNTOY I laughed so hard!

  • Wilson/Rudess/Minnemann/Levin would probably be the best supergroup ever.

  • @aligatorsandwitch72 You do know Steven is currently touring with Minnemann, and That Jordan Rudess played on his latest solo album right?

  • @windriderr that song is less about the chords and more about slimy businessmen selling "edgy" music to stupid teenagers with no taste in music

  • @omgitsaoe I know, that was a pun about another PT song ;)

  • It could be 3 or 4 chords but they were made by god.

  • Who cares about "how many chords are used in this song".....

It may be 1, 2 or 1000..... the song is great.

    WHO CARES!!!

  • 4 chords that made a million.

  • @windriderrr Ah, I like it :)

  • @StatedSoul bravo

  • It's a 3 chord song nevertheless. But not in the literal sense of the word.

  • What feeling.. This it's true music and true musicians.

  • @xXxgotmetal It's really awesome Rodrigo Andrade xD

  • Why on earth didn't Rudess handshake get returned (4:33)?>??!?!??! :(

    I wudda died for that.

  • 2 gods.. <3

  • an awsm accstc trk.....jst amazed....

  • I LOVE what JR is doing here. I hate when people complain about him being "note-y" If I wanted to hear the PT complete version I'd listen to it. Since this version doesn't have drums or bass I think it's the perfect version to have open interp. 2 of my favorite musicians.

  • Lol you guys are saying I'm going to invite Charlie Sheen and not expect him to win, Petrucci to play a banana instead of guitar. Stop arguing, Steve Wilson is a genius and I'm sure the whole purpose Rudess was there was cause of respect. Steve Wilson respects this man, and is willing to let him write on top of a song he wrote.

  • No one is ruining the song, Jordan just gives more vibes by playing some really fitting solo stuff. In no way it's exaggerated, it makes the song interesting, especially because it's live, if you want to hear the album version, you can listen to it, but where would be the need of playing this song with Jordan Rudess, if he's playing exactly the same like Barbieri does.

  • In the beginning, does SW say "I'm a gate-crasher"? Love that guy haha

  • Someone really is fond of notes, yeah?

  • Only a word "WOW"

  • AWESOME!!

  • OMFG!! My favorite pianist playing my favorite PT song OMG

  • Comment removed

  • Man, I love both DT and PT to death but in this clip, I can't help but feel that Mr. Jordan Rudeness was treading on Mr. Wilson's creativity with a heavy hand...or TWO

  • Rudess is great and I love his music, but I found him overkill for this song! This song is supposed to be extremely light, uncomplicated...!

  • Best 3 chords song ever...

  • @Fikmonskov its actually 4 :P there is a Cm# when he sings "My david dont u worry ..."

  • @mike1992p Sorry.

Best 4 chords song ever ;)

  • @Fikmonskov Hahaha no probs mate ;) you re welcome ! :P Best 4 chords indeed!

  • @mike1992p In fact there's 7 different chords in this song : verse A / A Maj7 / D, bridge Cm# / D / A / E, end D / Dm / F / E / A. Enjoy ;-)

  • @jeromefr76 you re absolutely right :)

  • @Fikmonskov there are five chords in this song.

  • @Fikmonskov

    This song has following chords: A, A (With a G#), D, E, F and C#.

But nonetheless its a fantastic song. :)

  • @Fikmonskov More like 7 Chords. lol

  • stunning

  • wow. jordan is really doing the business here.

  • sooooooooo nice........

  • i cant describe my feeling

  • amazing to see them together. i wish steven wilson was the singer for dream theater. labrie sucks!!!!!!!!

  • @MrHliamtoh i like labrie :)

  • @noconfig

beh io amo tutti e due, però non riesco proprio a vederli insieme...per me il tastierista dei porcupine non può che essere barbieri ehehe

  • @LesPantinsDansent I personally don't find his keyboard playing emotionless redundant piano. Emotionless redundant accoustic guitar strumming if anything.

  • @kuehling83 I find the piano play by JR to be a bit too, for lack of a better word, flying. He is a masterful piano player, yes, but I find his piano play in this performance to be too.. extravagant. Too fancy. It still fits in the song, but I still like the original better. And yes, redundant repetitive guitar play. Nothing too fancy. Steven Wilson more or less composes every song from scratch, so playing the redundant guitar is outweighed by the composition and his beautiful voice.

  • @readolinski82 good music shouldn't be downloaded!!!!!!!

  • Yay! I wish this piano player was the pianist for Justin Bieber.

  • @plasticPlaystation Troll harder nigger.

  • fantastic! thanks for this live!!!!

  • Would so love to see this live

  • I would eat my own poop for a good recording of this.

  • Can't get any better than this!

  • left-handed bassist.....;)

  • Where did this come from and why don't those two play together more? Thos are literally like the two most creative musicians on earth and they were in the same room? MUST HAVE MORE!

  • @kylemctreehugger1991 Rudess opened for Porcupine Tree on one tour.

  • @zbusterzsabre Ok thank you. I wish I would have seen that. It would have been a dream come true.

  • @zbusterzsabre My guess is this is from the Blackfield tour - as thats the same acoustic Aviv Geffen uses and the left handed P-Bass in the background is also the same one the Blackfield bassist used on their Live In NYC dvd.

  • BAD crowd. It took them almost 15 seconds till Wilson sang to know its lazarus.

Rudess is a fuckin era. Rudessness should be a word.

  • I think I just had a progasm.

  • Good thing the mic wasn't on Rudess, all you would have heard is his humming.

  • I can't believe this is a thing. This is too good to be true. I am literally crying at the beauty of this.

  • my dream is play with steven wilson, jordan rudess, adrian belew, julie slick, ,marcus miller etc. is a SMALL dream :)

  • I don't know but this is the first song I heard from them and everytime I hear it I want to cry ♥

  • Wilson and Rudess, fucking epic!

  • 17 people know nothing about music.

This is...simply incredible. Two of the most ingenious musicians of our time on the same stage. Wish I'd been there.

  • Stineck: I hear ya'. Unbelievable. This performance is nothing short of *gorgeous*.

  • @MistaMeeetch Iron man sucked. Porcupine Tree rules.

  • @PantericA85 OH MY FUCKING GOD, HOW YOU CAN SAY THAT

  • so enormous, beautiful

  • HOLY SHIT

  • Awesomeness ^^

  • Incredible.

  • simply perfect and beautiful.. :]

  • 16 viewers are aliens and thus incapable of listening to human music.

  • By the gear, I think it's a Porcupine tree show (maybe) or a Jordan Rudess solo show (most likely). It's awesome, but i like it more with Richard Barbieri in keys.

  • smallest stage evere

  • jordan q monstruo es exelente

  • Demasiado talento para un escenario tan pequeño!!!!

  • Does anyone know where the footage comes from ?

  • OMG.. a piece of Porcupine Tree.. with a piece of Dream Theater?..

    now I can die Happy..

    you Know..

i follow you doown.. to the valley of MUSIC

  • too much talent for one stage

  • Plmafios01. I just envy master jordán , dont take it too serious

  • Great

  • Legend... wait for it..(5min&4sec later)...DARY

  • Haahaha, so, if Rudess stores all his talent in his goatee then where does Wilson store his? Wait... I know this... it's his hair.

  • keyboard mistake at 2:50...

  • Comment removed

  • @oscar1974 Ur a mistake

  • I'm so sad for Dream Theater falling apart...

  • my two favourite bands.Wow

  • Wonderful song, wonderful singers..Steven is a Genius and Jordan is a Keywizard!!

  • How can 14 people dislike this?!

  • @Stinechk maybe they don't appreciate the quality of sound.. :D

  • @Stinechk Justin Beiber wasnt patient enough to create a fifteenth account!

  • @Stinechk Nickelback fans.

  • @Stinechk 14 people who haven't graduated to the big leagues when it comes to perceiving GREATNESS.

  • @Stinechk Too much info to process for their 5 neurons, probably Lady Gaga fans.

  • @intestinomedicino Hahaha yeah, or Justin Bieber LOL. Couldn't agree more!

  • @Stinechk 19 now! I guess, frustrated musicians!

  • @Stinechk 14 people like Britney Spears?

  • @Stinechk because Rudess ruins the song by showing off. It doesn't fit the original at all, nor Steven's guitar play here. It's just a misfit. Steven himself says it's not the technical complexity of songs that makes Porcupine Tree, it's the composition and layering. So ruining that composition is the worst thing you can do to a PT song and that's exactly what Rudess does here. The beautiful, subtle melody by Barbieri is gone and what we got back sounds like muzak.

  • Do you really think Steven Wilson didn't know Jordan would show off all over the song? It's not supposed to be the original, and I think it'd be insulting to assume Steven didn't know what he was getting into with this collaboration.

  • @kekburloller go fuck urslf....

  • @Stinechk Deaf perhaps?

  • the perfect song

  • oh man what's the song that follows this?

  • goosebumps

  • Did the audience really not recognize the song before he started singing? That intro is very recognizable in my opinion.

  • where was this?

  • holy shit i think im crying... btw kevin moore is better still!

  • @rockstarsupernate

    I agree. Imagine a Porcupine Tree/O.S.I. colab...

  • Profesor Rudess :):)

  • I wish that someday I could play like Rudess. =o

I think I'll go practice piano now.

Also, this is an absolutely beautiful version.

  • beautiful. :D

  • wowwww =)

  • Jordan Rudess is the best living pianist!

  • @92Misfit Greatest living penis what? he is a keyboadist

  • @VlogTheateR We get it. You're hilarious.

  • @BruisedEyeSockets i appreciate your sarcasm very much :)

  • @92Misfit Greatest living penis what? he is a keyboardist

  • hell ya! Great emotion in this track

  • I'll kick the 13 asses that don't like this ¬¬

  • Jordan Rudess makes a mistake at 1:45. Quite unusual...

  • @FutureHyperion

    2012 man!!!

  • @FutureHyperion Yeah, you are right. It's also like Steven is looking at him after that mistake.

  • wow...

  • Such a beautiful song and JR really suits it,don't often hear Him play like that in DT.Wicked.

  • metropolis part 3: it's not gonna happen

  • @BenMurrie Metropolis Part 3: Scenes from a Deadwing

  • I hope people realize what they're seeing here. This is two unbelievably talented artists performing a once in a lifetime dream.

Jordan Rudess can do no wrong in my eyes. The man plays straight from the heart -- genius.

  • great track :)

  • I can't wait for the project with Mike Portnoy, Mikael Akerfeldt and Steven

  • @HateHumanity where is there evidence of this existing?

  • It's been talked about for years now, mentioned in interviews of all three members for quite some time. They all insist that it will happen sometime, but that they're never all free at the same time to do so.

  • @HateHumanity Seriously? Where have you heard that?

  • @passgodtpaadegselv It's true, but don't get your hopes up. The article I read it from was from back 2006.

  • @Deathshuck Ah, okay. I guess it was just too good to be true anyway. But thank you!

  • @passgodtpaadegselv

Don't get your hopes down just yet, apparently they have already started without Portnoy, though he'll be on board soon enough. There are interviews on Blabbermouth and Metal Injection, dated to this year last month, of Steven Wilson and Mikeal Akerdfelt already starting on the project without Portnoy, for now, and all ready have 15 mins of material that they came up with. Their all still on tour so it will be another while before it really kicks off

  • @NightmareCinema42889 Oh, really? That's just great! I'll try and stay updated then.

  • My dream come true ♥ (:

  • It warms my heart to see Steven Wilson this close to Dream Theatre. Porcupine Tree is such a hidden gem. An absolutely amazing band.

  • OMG! no fucking way!!! awesome!!

  • the goatee is where rudess stores all of his talent.

  • Rudess Tree :D

  • Prog-gasmic

  • what a treat!!

  • RUDESS IMMENSO.

  • Beautiful. And it is so nice to see Steven Wilson smile, he doesn't smile often

  • When I saw the video title my face nearly melted off

  • I think wilson and rudess is a pretty cool guy. eh plays musics and doesnt afraid of anything...

  • @jeffreybp

I think jeffreybp is a pretty cool guy, eh makes witty comments and doesnt afraid of anything! hehe thumbs up dude! Love this version :)

  • Hats off to Rudess, just check the score or stems for that track and you'll see how much it relies on layered strings and synth, but the dude does it with just piano. Don't get me wrong, i think Barbieri is far better for PT and does a better job of the song live, but can't deny the guy props.

  • "Dream Tree"

  • @BiorythmicDrifter

I think Porcupine Dream sounds better, mate.

  • @nhonho23 Porcupine Theater sounds even better XD

  • Dream Tree :-)

  • @Rishro

    Porcupine Theatre

  • what next? gavin and portnoy having a drummoff? this is awesome!

  • This song is so... I wish I had another word beside awesome ... beautiful? stirring? I can just listen to it over and over. (Though I prefer the studio ver ;-)Thanks for posting!

  • @IYAMNI captivating.

  • i can't believe how amazing this sounds live.. :O
