  • No thanks. I'll take the Bible passed down through pure texts. The one that hasn't been appreciably changed since it's translation- the Authorized Version.

  • Thanks for this AHHAHAHAHAHA

    ALL THE CHURCHES NEEDS. LOL

  • this is hillarious!!!

  • This is like arguing over which flavour of ice cream the moon is made of. There is almost certainly no god.

  • @UrukEngineer go away, no one cares about your dogma and doctrine that you got from your pope richard dawkins.

  • @UE Oh, there is God, and I know Him--you can too. A person ignorant of something should never try to teach those who know, but rather they should go to those who know and ask to be taught. Logical, isn't it.

Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God, so read one of the Gospels, Matthew-John and let God convict your heart through the Truth of His Word. Jesus died for our sins, was buried and rose again the third day; if you look upon the Son and believe in Him, you will be saved!

  • @Enoch2 I (like you?) was brought up to believe in the christian god. The dialogue I thought I had with him was really just an imagined one - althought it felt real, it was just a powerful illusion.

You are wrong about logic. The logical way to assess the god hypothesis is to evaluate the evidence. A dispassionate, unemotional assessment has only one conclusion; there is almost certainly no god and that the christian god most definately does not exist.

Think with your head not your heart

  • @UrukEngineer That's funny, because I spent more than 4 years in Religious Studies at a secular university before I came to the reasoned conclusion that the true God is the God of the Bible, and that the Bible is absolutely true down to the most exact detail. Then I cried out to the LORD JESUS to save me and He did. Now I'm a child of God and I share in His righteousness by His grace, with peace and joy in the Holy Ghost!!!

Everybody knows there's God, including you (Rom 1:19-21)!

  • @Enoch2 Hmm, instead of studying "Religious Studies", had you studied Physics, Genetics, Geology, Astronomy, Psychology and Bible Historicity, you might well have conclude that there was not a god.

Everybody knows there's no god (Dawkins, "The God Delusion", p 137)

  • @UrukEngineer Dude, seriously, Dawkins has been refuted over and over by Christian philosopher and apologist, WIlliam Lane Craig, also by Mathematician John Lennox from Oxford University in his two debates with Dawkins. Even molecular biophysicist, Alister McGrath who is also a Christian apologist has debunked Dawkin's christian caricatures face to face with him and in writing, see, "the dawkin's delusion."

  • @graceteam Craig is undoubtedly a good debater. I have watched some of his his debates with Atheists. Craig is always well prepared unlike his Atheist opponents. However don't confuse well-practiced apologetics for the Truth.

There simply is no evidence to support the belief in a supernatural god. If YOU think there is, then you and I have a different standard by which we judge what constitutes "evidence".

    Seriously dude.

  • @UrukEngineer Being saved is about believing, not about 'being brought up to believe'. A person cannot be brainwashed into salvation; Jesus said that for men, salvation is impossible. But all are free to respond to the drawing of God to Jesus Christ and to receive faith to believe in Him. Unbelief is a sin and sin is deceitful, so you have been fooled by many years of fulfilling the desires of your mind (Eph 2:1-9)--now the darkness is so great you do not even know there is God (Matt 6:23).

  • @Enoch2 "A person cannot be brainwashed into salvation" - they CAN however be mistaken about their belief in god. Do you think Muslims, Hindus and Buddists are also correct in their beliefs - or do christians have a monopoly on the truth about god?

  • @UrukEngineer "But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils." 1 Cor 10:20

I have absolute assurance in my heart and mind that I am a child of God and have eternal life. Muhammad on his death-bed said, "Though I am the apostle of allah, yet I do not know what allah will do to me."

Why would anyone be a Muslim when the chief Muslim didn't know if he was going to heaven or hell?

  • @Enoch2 No, what you have descibed is why you PREFER to be a christian. This is not the same as why only christianity is right.

I feel that one should only hold a belief that is justified based on the available evidence. For that reason I am almost absolutely certain there is no god(s). I am certain however that the Abrahamic god is fictious.

The central issue is what is more important to you as a person, belief in god or the Truth?

  • Read..."Why the English Standard Version should not become the English Standard Version" by Mark Strauss.

I personally prefer the NIV'84, and the NLT.

  • The ESV is based on the Masoretic Text.

  • Pipers like 2pac

  • gets the glasshouse christians all riled up.. made me laugh thanks.. And the esv rocks!!

  • I still prefer the Hebrew and Greek.

  • @jefferygwatkins he he he

  • @jefferygwatkins Well for the rest of us that can't read original greek and hebrew texts, The NASB and ESV must suffice :)

  • @JcWhatCounts20 LOL. You should learn, it isn't the most difficult thing. It doesn't matter if ESV is the most closely translated. Every translation is an interpretation.

  • i dont like this... really, seems to be everything this man says is turned into some ''sermon jam'' come on.

  • Only got one leader mate. Jesus.

  • It's amazing how susceptible modern Christians are to marketing. Your leaders are corrupt, in bed with the World economic system...they love it, and build their rotten churches on it.

  • @TuLithu

    go away...

  • John Piper is correct. I have the ESV Study Bible and it's awesome... much more than I could have ever hoped for. It is fair in its commentary even about the doctrines of grace.

  • As others have noted, "best marketed" does not mean the best. It seems that the Neo-Reformed churches of Piper, Driscoll, Mahaney et al. have been alone in embracing the ESV. Most Pentecostals and non-denoms hold to their NIVs and Fundamentalists to the KJV. I don't know what the Emerging Churches are using (if anything). I don't think the ESV will ever be widely adopted. Like there will never be the next Beatles, there will never be the next standard Bible like the KJV was for centuries.

  • LOOOOOOOOOL that was funny just listened to it i love it - Disco with Piper talking!

    haha God Bless!

  • oh by the way I prefer NASB

  • Best marketed study Bible of all time.

  • Piper rules.
