Mike jenkins caught the ball in bounds for a first down but was called incomplete thats what setup the punt return by rosco parish that setup a field goal to go into overtime. OSU had the first down and would have ran the clock out jeeze dude watch the game again. Miami really did lose this game in regulation.
Im an ohio state fan with a question that may have hurt miami. On the last play in overtime, did miami only have 10 men on the field? I tried to count through the bad video quality and thought it was 10. maybe im wrong

Miami has been in shambles since Ohio State ripped their hearts out of them. Miami will lose to the Buckeyes in the Shoe. The Buckeyes have a better QB, stable of RB's, better WR's and a MUCH better defense. The conference Ohio State plays in is MUCH stronger than the ACC, and last season showed that with the Big Ten's dominance. The same thing will happen to Miami in 2002, and in last year's bowl game. They will lose to a superior Big Ten defense. Hell, Oregon was better than Miami.
@taydiggy Only thing that might be objective in your post is the WR issue. I think Miami might have an edge. Benjamin, Hankerson and Johnson are pretty good receivers. But Harris throws an abyss of picks anyways, so thats a non-factor. :)
Miami had a very good team that year..but they had not seen a D like OSU's all year,during the game the Miami QB was trown around,slamed,rushed...when it got in the 4th quarter you could see the fear in his eyes knowing that they was comming and that my friend is what caused Miami to loose that game not a penalty

The game went on for yet another overtime after the interference call (which should have been a defensive holding call). Miami had its chances. They were not robbed. They got beat! Go Buckeyes!

@andgom007, actually there were 2 penalties on that play, a holding against Gamble when he first got off the line, and the pass interference. So even if you're still crying about the pass interference being illegitimate, the holding was legit and occurred before the pass ever went up. It's pretty well-documented. Besides, the officials didn't convert a 4th-and-17 on that drive, OSU did.

What is really funny is how the critics prior to this game talked about Ohio State like they were 'sorry scrubs', saying they would lose to Miami by 4 touchdowns and the Miami players even had the balls to announce champ party dates prior to the game. All of these things really fired up Ohio State and it showed on the football field. Ohio State came to get some respect and win the national title and did just that. 8 of the starting 11 for OSU in this game are playing in the NFL right now...

Miami has been in shambles since Ohio State ripped their hearts out of them. Miami will lose to the Buckeyes in the Shoe. The Buckeyes have a better QB, stable of RB's, better WR's and a MUCH better defense. The conference Ohio State plays in is MUCH stronger than the ACC, and last season showed that with the Big Ten's dominance. The same thing will happen to Miami in 2002, and in last year's bowl game. They will lose to a superior Big Ten defense. Hell, Oregon was better than Miami.

A. Larry Coker had more influence in the team.
B. They weren't as hungry as they were, ask a few of the '02 players who've played with OSU players in the NFL. They'll say they never saw Ohio State coming.

Defense wins championships and Ohio State proved that against a Miami team that was supposed to win by 4+ touchdowns. The game went on for yet another overtime after the interference call (which should have been a defensive holding call). Miami had its chances. They were not robbed. They got beat! Go Buckeyes!

@andgom007, actually there were 2 penalties on that play, a holding against Gamble when he first got off the line, and the pass interference. So even if you're still crying about the pass interference being illegitimate, the holding was legit and occurred before the pass ever went up. It's pretty well-documented. Besides, the officials didn't convert a 4th-and-17 on that drive, OSU did.

If you're at all interested in facts, according to an article on cbssports in July '03: "At the line of scrimmage, Sharpe tried to "jam" Gamble and impeded his progress. When the official who had the call in the end zone didn't make it, Porter came rushing from the back of the end zone to throw the flag 4-5 seconds after the play had ended. He signaled a push for a defensive pass interference, then a signal for holding." (I got the link if you want it)

What is really funny is how the critics prior to this game talked about Ohio State like they were 'sorry scrubs', saying they would lose to Miami by 4 touchdowns and the Miami players even had the balls to announce champ party dates prior to the game. All of these things really fired up Ohio State and it showed on the football field.
