I remember when playing this game, I knew what was coming but I had this vain pathetic hope that if i used enough elixirs and curaga against the infantrymen, Zack would be okay and he and Aerith would live happily ever after

yeah zack is great and all , but cloud defeated sephiroth , got revenge for zack and learned omnislash ^-^ . however .. cloud would not have gotten this far if not for zack ...
