The password cracking scene was actually lost in translation. In the Japanese version the password was "Time Ripple," which is six characters long in Japanese. After she cracked it, Rowena made a comment that was something along the lines of "this guy has no imagination." They changed it to VISION in English because it was A: relevant and B: six characters long. The scene wasn't about Rowena's genius, it was about Kodai's awful password. "The Password is Always Swordfish" indeed.

What I didn't like about this movie was what they did with the three beasts. I mean I believe they should be unique species (despite the fact that Prof Oak said "It was A suicune" in the fourth movie... I think if he is seeing multiple Suicunes, and one isn't an illusion, then he's hallucinating on crack.) I mean, Shiney suicune was the real one, and regualr suicune an illusion? WTF?! Oh, speaking of which, can you please review teh movie, pokemon 4-Ever? Oh, PLEASE do! :D

I agree, there's no... investment(I think that's the word I'm looking for) when stopping Kodai from ruining the forest, even less without details of the replanting. If it was like a plague of salted earth that lasted a decade rather than a viewer-depicted "Sunday it was fine, Monday nothing grew, Tuesday there stands some grass" scenario, there'd be some support for the heroes.

And they downplayed Rowena to an undercover reporter, instead of an executive with her own agenda. but that's only me

@oOaka47Oo Noone is claiming that the pokemon movies are going to win any Oscars, but that's not really what they're about. Consider how important pokemon is to an entire generation. People just want to see pokemon continue and have fun. Pokemon is arguably the most potent pop culture phenomenon of all time. Everyone who grew up in the 90's remembers it and 90's kids will carry their nostalgia to the grave.

@iTylers I did not forget. Latios technically died, and I use the word "technically" because he really just became the new jewel that was protecting the city. It wasn't really a "tragic" death, but a death that was passed off as just part of the circle of life, a necessary tragedy, etc. But yes, Latios technically died... of course it didn't feel like it because that movie was GOD AWFUL, so when they tried to add an element of drama at the end I was just like "are you kidding me?"

It was certainly an enjoyable movie, it's just that there's at least 7 better Pokemon movies, in my humble opinion. (those being Pokemon 1, 8, 2, 3, 6, 10, and 4, in that order, if you were to ask me, not that you did. :D)

@Armandoservinfranco at some point I may, it does take me a long time to produce a review like this so i have to feel like doing it. I have to watch the movie so it's fresh in my mind, then write a script, set up a "stage" w/ high quality microphones, etc., film myself, find a file of the film, go through the whole film cutting out B-roll to use, and then edit the video together and render it/upload it. Lucario is one I'd want to do, I think I want to do Pokemon 1 first though.

I think you missed a heck of a lot of good points in the movie. No offense, but a lot of your complants seem to be more of not understanding what's going on. Zoroark broke free because Zorua called out to her with telepathy and infuriated her, she snapped and that's why she broke out for example, I had no problem understanding that.

There are others I'd like to point out, but I'm out of room. Anyway, I hate to say but I only really agree with any of your complaints, but all your positives.

I liked the movie, but I was bursting out laughing at the bad voice acting thru half of it. The pirate guy and the Ranger had such ridiculous voice acting. LOL. I was probably a little hard of Shaymin too, it was annoying, but in an amusing way.

ok i hav some disagreements with ur commentary. 1 u hav no soul (jk). i freakin cried when zoroark died. there waz no garuntee that she waz going to come back like in the Lucario movie (that one REALLY hurt). 2 time ripple waz as important as the space/time waves in movie 10. it waz giving backround.also, who u rather c her try like 5 times before she gets it? 3 it waz to build suspense. 4 well neither did the pokemon collector from the 2nd movie but he waz still a villian.

Maybe the film was just so silly that the dramatic ending didn't phase me, I will say that I cried at the end of the Lucario film, so a soul I have, lol. The collector in Pkmn 2 was different from Kodai to me, b/c he was a real developed character. Kodai was evil for evil's sake with no real explanation, in pkmn 2 the villian has a depersonalized feel, he doesn't feel like what he's doing is wrong, he's reserved and shallow. I liked him.

Zorua and Zoroark aren't legendaries. They are event Pokemon though.

@Outlaw997 I hate to argue, but to my knowledge, neither pokemon can be captured through normal game progression and can only be obtained through a one-time only pokemon event... That qualifies them as legendary, does it not? They are exactly like Mew (glitch aside) in that respect and Mew is considered legendary. Maybe I'm wrong somewhere...

@Supertrekkie4 Not in the technical sense. Legendaries are those creatures that are literally "legends" in-game wise. Zorua/Zoroark aren't that. They're just normal Pokemon that you get though an event.

When you pointed out Zoroark's close-to-death scene, you forgot Pokémon 5 when saying that the pokémon were not gonna die - Latios is dead at the end of this movie, and he is Latias' brother. I just had to say that.

Although, if I remember, Latios really sacrificed itself and turned into the town's new dew stone or whatever, so that was kind of a "happy" "his spirit will always be with us" type death, but you're right, he did die. I guess I forgot because that movie is the worst pokemon movie I've ever seen... maybe I'll review that one someday. Man, I hate pokemon 5. :)

@naturematthe hey, to each his own. If you enjoyed it then great, I'm glad you did! My personal opinion of that film in a nutshell is that the setting is too myopic (they never leave that one town for the whole film), the villians are too prissy, the pokemon are annoying (dolphin/pigeon squeeks, ugh), and there are too many weird things and plot holes. Why does an isolated town protected by Latios/Latias need what is effectively a "doomsday machine" for defense?? lol, but it's just my opinion

Just because a movie is for kids it doesn't get a free pass to be crappy, is that what we want to treat our kids? Take a movie like The Lion King, or The Secret of NIMH, or Finding Nemo, those are movies for kids, but they're also very good movies, even adults enjoy those films. It's not unusual to review kids movies, and Pokemon meant alot to my childhood.

I would love you to do Pokemon film number 8: Lucario and the mystery of mew. Not my favorite, but I just love Lucario - my favorite pokemon by far, even tho I stopped watching pokemon after season 3 like you did.

Great review. I love how you go into such detail of the plot, the bad parts and the good parts. You seem pretty confident when you talk, and you talk in a good tempo. So more reviews would be nice =)

Probably not too soon, 4th year of college is tough right now, but some time in the future perhaps... Pokemon 1 is still my favorite, not that anyone asked.
