i favor wushu over the other asian martial arts styles, but whenever you see a movie or video supporting a particular style over another-this instance is against karate-you get the notion that the opposing side has been portrayed rather inaccurately... but excellent choreographing nonetheless.

@evilunixuser1 It actually depends on the situation. The Japanese have a different variation than the Chinese on martial arts. For that, one cannot simply say that the Chinese are better, because there is a different history. In a case like this, the Chinese fighter has simply learned fighting ALL his life and so forth, and is not as inexperienced as the other dojo fighters who simply challenged him (from what I recall, Japanese masters also fight fair)

it's funny to see the massive difference between Jet Li's fight scenes and Bruce Lee's. Jet's look so much like choreographed exaggerated routines whereas Bruce Lee's looked more like an actual fight than routine.

It's hard to fault Fist of Legend on that front, really: this is the first fight. He crushes Akutagawa and his students, but it get harder after that: Ting An gets a few licks in but is beaten soundly, Fuimo Funakoshi actually *beats* him, and the General Fujita fight is an absolute slobberknocker. Li's character gets beat to hell and back before winning the final fight, even dislocating an arm.

In my opinion it's Li's best movie, actually.

Just read that the Bruce Lee movie (Fist of Fury) was meant to be retitled as Fists of Fury in the US but got switched somehow with the title intended for The Big Boss. Hence The Big Boss is known as Fists of Fury and Fist of Fury is known as The Chinese Connection. Nice one guys...

@sensato66 Hwa fist doesn't really exist. It's an invented style for the movie. What Jet Li was doing was a mixture of about 7 or 8 different styles, as kung-fu/wu-shu should be. It is safer to just call it wu-shu as once you realise that the styles are supposed to be mixed and matched then your realise that styles are nothing more than teaching aids and techniques are nothing more than tools designed for a specific job.

He did not learn Nanquan (Southern fist), because his training focused only in the Northern Shaolin Styles.
