The only reason VII is popular is the hype and the fact that it gets straight to the point relatively early. VIII is the most technically advanced PS Final Fantasy, yet needs time to really get into. Squall is the better protagonist, swordsman, and leader. Cloud has a big sword and gravity-defying hair, which my close-to-1-year-old cousin already has (hair, not sword).
VII's story is the most overrated of any of the Final Fantasies. It's not a bad story by any means, but it's nothing special. Everything that happened it it had happened in an earlier Final Fantasy and in many ways it was done better in those games. Sephiroth LOOKED cool, but there was nothing groundbreaking about the was he did things. I mean, he basically just did the same things that minor villains had done in the earlier games, so I don't understand why he's considered to be a good villain.

Squall has proven he can reach Clouds level of strength specially when he pulls the trigger to attack. Squall also is a more agile character and has higher responses to attacks. Squall focuses his mind like a beam when in a fight and does not listen nor care about stupid comments someone like Sephiroth would make, unlike cloud. Squall does more damage in his final attack, 40 % more. Squall also is 17, at 17 cloud was a weakling.

agree. ffVIII is more realistic cause it shows reality, even if impregned with magic. squall is an AWESOME hero cause he changes from solitary to wanting to save EVERYONE, and he does. in contrast, cloud doesn't save zack nor aeris, cause he is psychally and mentally weak when he has his chance. Squal, even if sometimes doubts, he makes the right choice almost everytime. so i'd say they are equal in strenght (at the ending of both games), but squall is WAY MORE heroic.

His attack may be a bit higher than theres but they have other stats much better than Clouds. Clouds not the best.

How come clouds does more slashes than Squall though, in VIII Squall does more connected slashes than Cloud in the same time that cloud does Omnislash so stupid. Squall owns, and that is why he faces Sephiroth in Dissidia.
Squall has proven he can reach Clouds level of strength specially when he pulls the trigger to attack. Squall also is a more agile character and has higher responses to attacks. Squall focuses his mind like a beam when in a fight and does not listen nor care about stupid comments someone like Sephiroth would make, unlike cloud. Squall does more damage in his final attack, 40 % more. Squall also is 17, at 17 cloud was a weakling.

agree. ffVIII is more realistic cause it shows reality, even if impregned with magic. squall is an AWESOME hero cause he changes from solitary to wanting to save EVERYONE, and he does. in contrast, cloud doesn't save zack nor aeris, cause he is psychally and mentally weak when he has his chance. Squal, even if sometimes doubts, he makes the right choice almost everytime. so i'd say they are equal in strenght (at the ending of both games), but squall is WAY MORE heroic.

cause Cloud became the celebrity. FFVIII had better music, same engine, yet much better graphics, better main character development, and also, a better villain. Ultimicia was also a god, she controlled Time, Space and Matter. She could stop Sephiroth in time, her magical powers are more powerful than any 7 character, and she can also reverse Cloud in battle, something Squall became immune to. Squall is the shit.

Also, the idea of a mortal defeating a so-called 'God' who controlled time, space and matter is just silly. Because first of all, she couldn't have been a God, because they are immortal and don't die, like Sephiroth, who came back to life like 1million times. And who killed him every time? That's right, CLOUD! That's why I believe Cloud would win.

Ultimecia did have the power to control time, space, and dimension, Squall was able to beat her, and i doubt Cloud would. Squall and Cloud are both the most powerful FF characters along side WoL and Cecil. Cloud is not the most powerful Protagonist. His attack may be a bit higher than theres but they have other stats much better than Clouds. Clouds not the best.

Also, Squall can only beat Ultimecia because HE is the protagonist of FFVIII. Think about it, they needed to make the hero immune to her powers so he could realistically kill her and if Cloud were the protagonist of FFVIII and was immune to her, he definitely could've slaughtered her.

Sephiroth wasn't just some cheapass with god-like powers, he was a mortal with a lot of skill and power. -Cloud at the age of 16 was just an ordinary ShinRa infantryman with average skills with a sword, who couldn't even make it into SOLDIER.
-Squall at the age of 17 was the master of his own weapon, and leader of the most powerful force in the planet. The SeeDs. The only ones capable on taking out Sorceresses, which are planetary threats.

So what if Sephiroth wasn't trying? He still got killed 1hit by Cloud's Omnislash Version 5 (technically 6hit). Also, do you think anyone else in FFVII could have taken out Sephiroth? He joined Balamb at the age of 6/7 and became the leader of SeeD just in the second disc of the game, whereas Cloud tried to join SOLDIER at the age of 13, became an ordinary ShinRa grunt and was experimented in a laboratory for 4 years.
Sephiroth got killed because he's arrogant. He wanted him to suffer. He didn't used a fraction of his abilities to combat Cloud. He was dominated just by basic swordsmanship. It's stated, sorry.

How come clouds does more slashes than Squall though, in VIII Squall does more connected slashes than Cloud in the same time that cloud does Omnislash so stupid. cloud is to slow if u want power i suggest either sephy, jecth or garland cuz they r pretty fast characters with their power lvl and if u like magis pick golbeza or exdeath

all of the characeters in dissidia are balance.. the character you mentioned has/have theyre drawbacks..
squall's move have fast and slow attacks.. the same as cloud and others.. but your right on 1 point.. JECHT is such a badass.. hehehe.. XD
