The EA-6B's are used over there for flares mostly.

any reason why they need electronic warfare aircraft over a primitive country such as afghanistan? is it to capture signals from communications equipment used by the enemy?

I couldn't begin to guess how many times I've stood out on the line next to a Prowler doing this very same thing. Launches were always interesting.
